Driedmeat Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 Hello folks. Been lurking a short time and want to join in the fun. Appears to be a lot of great information and experience here - which is good because I have very little!! I am 50 years old and my interests revolve around the outdoors. I have hunted and fished this part of the world since I was able to cast a lure or pull a trigger! Dove season starts here on Sunday and unfortunately I'm gonna have to sit in the shade and heckle my buddies for a while. I had back surgery last week so I'm on the injured reserves for a while. My interest in the .308 platform is due to the infestation of hogs where I hunt. I have a Ruger SR556 that has been a tack driver and a fantastic tool for deer harvest. Every deer I shoot is a neck shot at under 150 yds. The Ruger has been perfect for that task... However, it is not ideal for a tough foe like the hogs. The .308 AR platform should be perfect for my needs. So here I am!
Armed Eye Doc Posted August 28, 2019 Report Posted August 28, 2019 Welcome from close to Dallas, but not too close.

Definitely NOT to dissuade you from building or buying a .308AR, but... Try some Barnes 70gr TSX projectiles in that 5.56 gun, on the hogs. It'll rip their asses up for sure. There are a few places that sell it as loaded ammo. It's worth a shot, in the meantime, while you're building that Bigger AR.
unforgiven Posted August 29, 2019 Report Posted August 29, 2019 Welcome from Indiana brother , heal up quick.
