mrmackc Posted March 7, 2015 Report Posted March 7, 2015 I'm looking for a nice smoker to replace my old Brinkman round 1500 watt electric from the 1980 era, it is about burnt thru the bottom. I can't decide between electric or propane using the hickory mesquite chips up right. Or maybe a combo charcoal, wood and propane grilling and smoking unit I have seen at Lowes. That Masterbilt looks awful nice. Tell me about the "Smoke Daddy" is it attached to the side of the smoker? I do turkeys, briskits, and hams and almost anything with my old Brinkman. It has a porcelain water pan above the heater for liquids (water cooking wine and spices) I like the moist flavor mixed with the wood smoke. You load it up, Wood chips wrapped in foil, the liquid above the chips and two racks for the meat and put the lid on and plug it in for about 45 minutes per pound of meat. The results are great! The new ones all have an access door on the side. Mine does not have any access door, the smoker is sealed except for around the lid.
shepp Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 I really like my masterbuilt even tho it's "cheating" digital temp control and timer Smoke daddy is pretty damn slick puts off way more smoke than just the materbuilt allows for cold smoking too wich is how you do cheese http://www.smokedaddyinc.com
mrmackc Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Thanks, looks like I will have a Masterbilt digital controlled 30" electric smoker with a Smoke Daddy on my wish list. I was looking at Brinkman combo propane charcoal smoker grills, but they have been discontinued.
unforgiven Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 I use two,Weber Performer charcoal grill w/propane spark igniter and Green Mountian pellet smoker/grill digital 150* - 500* range.I likey.

shepp Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 I saw a Green Mountain on Home Depot site, I'll check it out, Thanks Think wash has the green mointain too with a modified smoke daddy attachment
unforgiven Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Yea he does.He is the one that turned me on to it.Nice that you can find it at Home Depot.I drove 70 miles out to farm land as it was independent dealers that sold the grill.I have the smaller of the two models.http://greenmountaingrills.com/
washguy Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Yeppers my Green mountain is going on 4 years now....pellet grills are awesome...I think the Daniel Boone is the smaller of the two....me and Rene have it. I wouldnt think there would be any need for the larger one. The only reason I put a smoke daddy on it was because the BBQ joint around the corner has BBQ that is so smokey good I was trying to keep up with their smoke...lol One thing bout Green mountain is that my parts warranty is still honored even after 4 years...cant beat that...neat thing bout the Green mountain...you can grill steaks and stuff too ,cause it can get up to 500 degrees and sear steaks,,,used it last nite for steaks...yummy! Me and Rene both have the "blanket" which allows the smoker to use less pellets. I order my pellets online and get 40 lb bags for bout a buck a pound delivered :) Wash
shepp Posted March 8, 2015 Report Posted March 8, 2015 Cabelas also has pellets now. ^-^ Got a cabelas opening 30 min from me.........I'm going to need a second job!
