The newest bid deal is third row seats out of suv's. Take less than 45 seconds to walk away with $400-500. Make me nervous about the wires Yukon. Like said above....I hate thieves. Bastards have never worked hard enough to have pride of ownership. I wonder if I could set up something like a purple die pack on my seats....except maybe it could be more like a giant ARM that grabs Tue rat bastage by his nuts.  Better yet, a trunk monkey.

(For those that have never seen the trunk monkey, search that one on YouTube...some of the funniest commercials I've ever seen. )

Metal thieves here in Arizona are going stupid.  Not that they were in anyway smart to begin with.

Cutting lines to street lamps and doing pulls for a few hundred feet of copper, stealing brass firehose fittings, and the catalytic converters too.  Someone recently got a couple of the dipped pure copper plates from a train car.

Really?  "Yeah...my dad just had these 500# copper plates laying around the yard."  Gumpoids.

A few years back they passed a law that nobody could sell scrap w/o photo ID.  Now they are passing a law that scrap yards may not pay in cash, it must be a check-only payment.

I do commercial refrigeration we've had two Inclosed trailers stolen both with 30,000$+ of copper inside. Both times it was off a secured site both times it was an inside job (security company's and the DB's they hire) both times we got our trailer back too they'd dump it few cities away. Most yards around here will call the cops if its in new looking condition or won't take it

Our yards will give you cash for just plain old iron but if you have SS, brass, copper or aluminum it is a 2 week wait for payment. I have a fab shop and we do once a month runs to clean up. Kind of its own little world at the scrap yard <laughs>

we do that too at our shop we scrap old cases we've replaced, old copper, cut offs and other odds and ends. but we have also been going to the same yard for atleast 12 years so they know what we're all about

Yep

A friend of mine that lives in Califruity parks her Lexus in the drive and her Sequoia in the garage. She had 2 catalytic converters stolen. The LEOs told her that it takes about a minute to cut the converters off the Sequoia. 2 peeps. 1 to roll under the vehicle and do the deed and another to drive the getaway vehicle.

The tweakers around here have burnt all their bridges. They've created for themselves an environment that genuinely can't wait for them to OD and die.

Needless to say, no one will hire them and they've ripped off and hurt everyone they know, making it extremely difficult to get their drugs. Recycle centers are the one consistent that never goes away. So they make a big deal out of going around gathering and when necessary stealing metal to turn in.

Fortunately, they are starting to crack down. I guess now they are looking at kicking people out of recycle centers indefinitely if they get caught turning in stolen property.

As soon as South Carolina declared open season on home invaders the states tweaker population went in to decline. We need that policy out here.

The druggies around here are usually on meth which more or less turns you in to a sociopath by making your body dependent on the chemicals that give you any sense of compassion. So they are good about being all nice to people so they can get in the door and then screwing them over. Every time I get a new neighbor, I warn them against these people. Some heed it, most don't. So I end up getting allot of them on my block, going through dumpsters and such. Had several things stolen off my patio when I wasn't looking.

I'm always helpful to everyone around here but the harboring has gotten so bad that I've had little choice but to draw the line and start shunning and even partaking in class-actions against them. It's getting out of control.

Duce you reminded me of the two heroine junkies in a town just south of me that were stealing manhole covers?!? Don't here much bout meth around here up north it's bad, heroine is the bad one around here

When I lived near Tampa in Florida there were allot of local heroin junkies. I had a friend who's sister use to go to raves and bring her with her on occasion. When I had the chance, I went along to serve as a body guard, or basically to make sure she (my friend, not her sister) didn't get raped. Trying to protect her sister was a lost cause as she would give out freely to anyone.

Anyway, I crossed paths with my fair share of heroin junkies there.

I also grew up in South Lake Tahoe during the gang wars of the 90s and all these gang families moved to Tahoe to get their kids away from street gangs. In stead of getting away from it, their kids brought it with them and the resort/tourist city of South Lake Tahoe was overrun with street gangs during that period. It got so bad that the casinos actually told the police to "get the gang problem under control or we will." Fortunately, they made sure that statement reached the ears of the gangs.

My brother was running with one of those gangs. I've never before or since seen anyone so happy to go to jail (or juvenile hall in this case.

Anyway, heroin was a big drug of the time. I always hated street gangs, so the gang culture of 90s Tahoe kept me pretty well secluded to my art projects, video games and history research but; with both my brother and sister running in gangs, I was more or less surrounded by it and well exposed to the drug trade despite wanting nothing to do with it.

Heroin addicts that I've seen were extremely apathetic. I guess in a way they are similar to meth addicts. Meth addicts are more extreme though and tend to be more active as where heroin addicts tend to crawl in to their own little cave for the most part. All the meth addicts I've seen were transients. They try to sweet talk their way in to other people's homes and then cheat and steal from them.

I have a weird reputation around here. I am known for helping folks out, so you'd THINK the meth heads would always be coming my way to try to take advantage. But early on, they discovered that I am no fool and there's a false rumor going around that I pack heat all the time. I DO intend to validate that rumor as soon as I can afford to but in the mean time, the mystic of my ways seams to be keeping me out of trouble. LOL.

Right now my neighbors are at war with one and other. When I first moved in to this neighborhood, the transient traffic was really bad. Allot of neighborhood class actions got all the slime out and it was actually a nice place to live for a while. Now a few people who moved in to the area over the last couple years are bringing the slime back in and those of us who've lived here for a while are seeing the old days come back and are fighting back to keep it from happening.

As soon as I get my CCW, I might start working with the local police as an informant, to help get these scum off the streets.
