imschur Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 Inquired about some Spegal grips.
98Z5V Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Holy poop, it lives!!! <thumbsup>SAH-WEEEEEEET, BROTHER!!! 8)
imschur Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 anyone know what the markings on the barrel and trigger guard represent?
98Z5V Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 "Pineapple" proof marks, started in 1969.
Microgunner Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 anyone know what the markings on the barrel and trigger guard represent? As far as I've been able to determine it's a Belgian Nitro Proof mark. Means it's been proofed to extremely high pressure. PV in oval under crown.
Microgunner Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 Yeah, those grips do look kinda plain in photos.
98Z5V Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 As a kid, I studied the hell out of the BHP - I always thought it was the perfect firearm. I had books on the thing, and read all I could about it. I can't remember how long the pineapple prrof mark ran, but it was only a couple years, not long at all. Here's some more I dug up on it:More than likely the one at the trigger guard used to look like this: The P/V in the Pineapple stands for "Poudre Vive" which means live powder or smokeless powder. It means it has passed the smokeless powder test. The little tower/monument inside the pineapple is the Perron proof. The Perron is the symbol for the city of Liege, it represents "the freedom of the city of Liege." Taken all together it is the final proof for the gun.
imschur Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 Yeah, those grips do look kinda plain in photos. They are in great shape though. The original BHP I fell in love with in the early 90's was similar to mine except the owner had wraparound Pachmayrs and an extra long barrel. Looked silly but what a fun gun.
imschur Posted February 3, 2013 Author Report Posted February 3, 2013 BTW the flash kills the beauty of this pistol and highlights the minimalist of scratches not readily visible to the eye. I will take some proper pictures at some point
98Z5V Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 I know we pressured you into getting something up on the board - but the damn thing is still a work of art, brother. <thumbsup> ;D
unforgiven Posted February 3, 2013 Report Posted February 3, 2013 You got another nice pistol there brother.Just sayin. <thumbsup> ;D
DNP Posted February 4, 2013 Report Posted February 4, 2013 I don't know if I buy it yet. Hold it in front of this thread for proog <laughs>You know, I would have waited til I had some sexier grips on that bad boy before I put her picture up. Really though, that's a bad ass piece. Congrats on adding that to the collection <thumbsup>
