planeflyer21
That police semi-automatic rifle looks suspiciously like a Cali-banned assault weapon. Why the change in verbage? ::)http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/Semiautomatic-rifle-stolen-from-SF-police-4326325.phpJon
DNP
Oops. Damn thieves. Even the cops aren't safe. It's ok though, he doesn't need that rifle anyways. He can use his shotgun. It's only a crazy assault weapon if its owned by a civilian. You know that.

98Z5V
The high-powered rifle is similar to a military M-16 and is issued to specially trained officers, Andraychak said.Wow. They issue that to ALL Soldiers and Marines... I'm just sayin'.I'll refrain from saying more. Right now.
StainTrain
1. I would like to see that "special" training. 2. Doesn't they person who stole it realize that it is banned. Once he does, he will surely turn it back over to the police.

Robocop1051
You guys would be surprised how often this happens. Locally, one of our LGS loaded up a uhaul a day in advance for a gun show... Need I say more?A fire broke out at our local uniform shop. The fire dept, in their infinite wisdom, pulled all the uniforms out of the store and stashed them in the back alley. Over 100 uniforms from various dept's... Gone!It sux, but it'll keep happening.

Matt.Cross
I'm not far off, on the "special training" thing... :o"Alright listen up boys, I'm only going to say this once. We point the really narrow end towards the enemy, rotate the little lever 90 degrees, and press the trigger to the rear. Now come on up and get your 'Special Training' diplomas and congratulate yourself on becoming one of the nation's elite forces!" <laughs>
98Z5V
^^^ That's exactly what I mean... <lmao>In today's world, you shouldn't have to have any "special training" in order to arm yourself with firearms that are equivalent, or better, than those in the possession of criminals/sociopaths. Yes, you should be intimately familiar with the weapons platform, and yes, you should have to pass recurring qualification with the weapons platform.LEOs shouldn't have to acquire "special training" in order to carry ARs. They don't need "special training" for duty pistols - just the same training everyone else in their dept or academy gets. It's just "training." In my not-so-humble opinion, all LEOs should have pistols, shotguns and centerfire long guns at their disposal, all the time. Reserve the "special training" for things that truly are specialized, i.e., snipers, breaching, dynamic entry, etc. That's the whole reason for SWAT and HRT elements anyway, right?
