Midwest Industries SS KeyMod Series Handguard

 

Introductions of the products utilizing the KeyMod are rolling out on a weekly basis and now Midwest Industries has expanded on their offering of handguards featuring the direct attachment system with  12" and 15" offerings utilizing their SS-Series style. The lightweight 12" handguard will come in at just 8.5 ounces including the barrel nut has a total length of 12.625 inches. The KeyMod attachment points are present at 3, 6, and 9 with a continual rail up top and 5 QD Sling attachment points. Midwest Industries will have the SS KeyMod Handguard shipping by the end of October.

I first spotted the MI SS series a while back, and have been pestering them about when it will be available for our AR308s. They've been good natured about it, saying be patient, sometime after September. They're waiting on packaging.

I've never seen that one. It's a very nice piece. I'm still waiting to see what MAG Tactical rolls out for theirs. I'd like it to be something like that but I'm not sure if it will be a keymod.

Yup, a BCM midlength 16" LW barrel upper receiver group with that rail is what I'm waiting for to finish my LW build.

Saw the Midwest 10" and 12" on amazon . The 12" in black $173.99 and in FDE $170.99. These are the AR15 platform models.

Will the BCM only be for AR15 platform?

Initially, yes.  In the future?  They don't make many 308AR parts, so they probably won't do a FF rail, either.  I doubt you'd ever see a BCM 308 FF setup.

That MI Keymod looks great...and so light!  What do you think the 15" will weigh?  Any insights into the probable interior dimensions?  Sams as the SS Gen II maybe?

Run the numbers on the listed weight above, and you should be pretty close to the accurate weight.

I'm doubt the 15" keymod will weigh much less than the standard 15" ff tube.
