Lookin' sexy

You asked for it, and we listened. Midwest Industries is now making our SSK (Keymod) handguard for the 308 pattern rifles.

Pictured here is the DPMS low pattern handguard on a Smith & Wesson M&P10. This 12" handguard weighs in at 12.4 oz with the barrel nut. The 15" is 13.3oz. Each handguard comes with one five slot rail section. Like everything MI it is made in the USA and is backed by our lifetime warranty.

These will be shipping in two weeks.

Any idea on pricing?  Will it fit both AR10 & DPMS patterns?   It's not yet up on the MI site.

No.  According to them, the AR-10 patterns will run next, when they've got these DPMS-based ones out.

Whew!

Finally something to distract me from the .300 Blackout and I can save my money.

You're making excuses and telling stories, brother - you don't even have a DPMS-based 308...  <lmao>

Funny…I thought we got lowers at the same place, on the same day, from the same person.

Plus they already had the Armalite version…which is the pattern of the forearms on the LAR-8s.

FWIW... It is VEEEEERRRRRRRYYYYY easy to over tighten this handguard and break it... I did :'(

The stupid aluminum is so light that I just kept tightening and tightening, expecting it to come to a stop. I eventually noticed that the little locking lugs that go into the barrel nut had started bending and one had broken off. This is on a .22lr build, so I'm not too worried about it (I also dropped a bunch of $$$ to have it cerkoted to match my receivers). It just sucks that I made such a stupid rookie mistake. That's what I deserve for rushing. <nutkick>

The instructions were pretty clear to me IMO, when they said 35in-lbs for those hex screws. That comes to just under 3ft-lbs (3lb weight on a 1ft bar). Very easy to go past that.

DAMN!  You GOT me, brother - I completely forgot about the pattern on the Dane Armory lowers, no kidding.

You DO have a DPMS-based 308.  My apologies for heckling you like that.  :-[

Okay, back to my normal self now...  :fawkdance:

That's okay brother!  I'll always love you!

I'm assuming any low profile or micro gas block would work okay with this rail, correct?  Also, I have the newer low profile DPMS upper so do I just use your standard mid length gas tube for my mid length barrel?  I have seen that some are bent and some are straight.

A lo-pro block is a lo-pro block. Any should work for what you're looking for. And yes, I would guess that a standard mid-length tube should work fine. But not having one of these rifles......you can't hold my feet to the fire on it.
