This is just another way to keep any form of ammo out of our hands , because it keeps the manufacturers busy making it for the Gov.. They will probably be buying Millions of Arrows & Bolts next ! <laughs>

Did you look at who took the contract, or is it just out on the table?

I wasn't answering you. Pointing out that this order is primarily for border protection and customs per the original link. I'm aware that BP and customs don't manufacture ammo, thanks though.

I'm perfectly ok with buying 5 million rounds a year for the next 5 years for those guys. Almost doesn't sound like enough.

21,000 agents at the end of 2012, but there's a push for more (in 2013).  Not sure if they got that through, but they were pushing for 40,000.

5,000,000 / 21,000 = about 238 per agent.  Per year.

5,000,000 / 40,000 = 125 per agent. Per year.

Where's greenmist - I'd like to hear his take on being allotted 238 rounds of 12ga.

Per Year.

That's not even enough for one range event, if you're training properly.

Those would be good numbers if they all had to shoot 12 ga. slugs & " 00 " for qualifications .

Not sure how the feds do it.

For AZ corrections we had to run through bird shot, buck shot, and slugs, plus rubber buck.  Always with the familiarization with each, then a couple of runs of "riot loads" (bird, bird, buck, buck, buck, slug, slug) for familiarization with the loading combo (reverse order).

Qualification for accuracy was always with 00 buckshot.

What? If you need 238 rounds of 12 ga. for practice and making qual. there's a problem.

Training properly? LOL! Pistols and rifles are a perishable skill-scatter guns have always been qualed with, using BuckShot in my agencies up here-if you NEED 238 rounds to do so around here, you'd be on the range after we all left and then shooting with the next group who need to re-qual! That's not my opinion, that IS a FACT!

Most Feds qualify quarterly with optional practice shoots. The small number of rounds you suggest maybe sufficient if you are just shooting paper for liability purposes. If you are training people to actually fight with the shotgun, then 238 per agent is a low number.

Stain, that's just your OPINION. He stated a FACT.

When you train to shoot with a 3 man rapid response team for the largest mall in America, one where you have already saved the virginity of the mayors nephew...you only need a few a year. MAX.

Let's see.

1st I'm sorry

2nd thank you for pitching another fat one.
