For awhile my brother had a system perfected…spray a bit of aerosol while lighting it at just the right distance, and it would burn the wings off the fly.  He called them something like "modified ants".

Super soaker flame thrower is definetly an outdoor tool but would spit fire about 10' !!!

OK. Now I'm seeing a fire extinguisher in the near future for somebody. Possibly some burn gel. <laughs>

I was joking around with my wife about these, and she surprised me with one for my birthday "from the kids".

It blasts spiders and flies pretty good.

I've shot a couple of spiders but they just run off. But these are the big wolf spiders we get down here in Florida.

Some have taken more than one shot and I had a large horse fly that wouldn't go down. But for the most part it's been pretty good.

I'm thinking about trying some sea salt in it this spring.

I generally just leave the spiders alone. If they're alive they must be eating something that I like a whole lot less than them, but if one of those big bastards insists on invading my personal space (like the shower or above the bed) I find a good stiff flyswatter is the weapon of choice.

+1  After buying a house that had been vacant for several months, we had some serious cleaning up to do, everything from black widows to house flies and this thing fit the bill perfectly. The wife did get a little upset about the salt after 20ish shots in the house and the amount of beer I was drinking, but hey, theres a price to pay for any kind of fun.
