Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Hey guys, Now that I'm acquiring a lot of firearms I need a safe. I know you get what you pay for when it comes for a safe but I don't have 1k+ to shell out for a safe. What do you guys reccomend for about 500 bucks? I just need something to store them in for now. Thanks in advance! Ps, I was trying to fix my title but didn't see the option unless I'm blind. " in need of a safe" Edited June 17, 2014 by Cali_Ed
shibiwan Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Can I add me to the list? Need a safe for the manufacturing shop. :)
sketch Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I found mine at lowes under your budget but is well built.
DNP Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Keep an eye on Costco online. They wind up with great deals from time to time. Got a 64 gun Cannon delivered for about $800. Best deal there right now is about $900 though. Every few months they have a good one, I just waited for the time to work out where they had a sale and I had money.
shibiwan Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Costco... hmmm gotta keep an eye out for that. 64 should cover all the firearms in our small "retail floor".
Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 Lol, I looked at costco they are pricey. I looked for the centeriun safes at Lowes but they don't seem to carry them just stack on. I know homedepot has safes but they are digital and I don't want that.
DNP Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 The digital ain't bad. But the cannons come in both now. They have a digital with a mechanical backup on some models.

Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 How about this? http://mobile.walmart.com/ip/16637354?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222228000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=m&wl3=41833582510&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=19880599990&veh=sem
sketch Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Was never a fan of stack on but that looks to be about the same quality I got from lowes price is right!
DNP Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 That's the ideal - so it never locks up on you. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have that. Convenience of the digital with the piece of mind from a mechanical. Would have loved it.
Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 I looked for the centeriun one lowes doesn't carry it anymore
sketch Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Chk liberty web site they might have a dealer list?
Toolndie7 Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 You could always check out your local craigslist sometimes there are guys on there with a nice safe they need to dump cause they are moving or something.
survivalshop Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Gander Mountain has Liberty safes , Dick's Sporting goods has Cannon . I think booth have Stack On's also. Edited June 17, 2014 by survivalshop
Toolndie7 Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 just got this email and thought it was relevant to your woes Here
BigP623 Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 Just remeber a safe in that price range is probably gonna be chinese made. Save a few bucks and invest in a quality product made in the USA. Ive been eyeing sturdy safe company for a little while now and their torture tests on their safes seem to be top knotch. That being said it doesnt come with all the pretty interiers like the Winchesters etc, but it looks to be built like a rock.
Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 I know, I've watched videos explain safes and there materials and actual wall thickness. You get what you pay for. But like I said I don't have 1600 bucks for a decent safe. I just need something to store them for now. One year old is growing fast

One year old is growing fast I don't mean to come off as a dick, but you never thought about a safe before having a kid? There are a lot of other what ifs that drove me to buy a safe before kids in my house?!
Cali_Ed Posted June 17, 2014 Author Report Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) Yes I have, for now they are stashed away in a good place. I don't leave them out and about in plane sight. I don't own a arsenal of weapons. Just a couple. I want to increase my inventory so that's why I want a safe. Yes I should have a safe by now, but kinda put it on the back burner (not best idea) to throw my money into my build, now it's done and I'm hunting for a safe. I didn't to come off as irresponsible even though my actions have kind of pointed to that. Like I said guns are safely tucked away. ( hand guns are in a fire safe, but that's only big enough for that not a rifle.) Edited June 17, 2014 by Cali_Ed
shepp Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 (edited) I donno maybe I'm paranoid but my guns never came to my house before I had a safe. A pro can find them hidden and a fire well they know no boundaries Edited June 17, 2014 by shepp
DNP Posted June 17, 2014 Report Posted June 17, 2014 I don't see why you gotta have a safe because there's kids around. I thought we were trying to de-pussify this world by carrying out rifles everywhere we go? Might as well start at home, right? But seriously, responsible ownership doesn't necessarily require a safe. We never had one as I was growing up. Guns were kept in sight, but I was trained not to touch them...along with stay away from the stove and out of dads liquor. <-that only lasted so long, but by that point I had my own guns and had been trained on the safe handling.
