My best friend sez there's no way to defend your/my home in the burbs....he sez buggin out is the only way.... he sez  I couldnt defend my home for very long,so whats the use of a gen set and stayin inside all hunkered down?...the bad guys will wait you out and get ya from all sides.....he sez the deer lease way down south is the ticket...oh sure 300 miles on the road... I say no way...opinions please

Depends on the scenario.  If the government locks down pavement and roads in/out of your area, can anyone make it out another way?

Here I have a street full of LE/former military...and someone keeps feeding the dang pigeons.  Protection and food.

Listen to your friend he is a smart guy..... that is why I say you have to leave early before it gets bad or you most likely will not leave at all.

Like that dude from Croatia said...everything was bad but not THAT bad.  Politicos were saying "Don't worry...don't worry. We got this!  And your safety is our first SQUIRREL!" and all hell broke loose NOW.

300 miles is a bit of a hike, I've got a farm ploted out with a friend in northwestern il on the wi il boarder. Been thinking bout this the past couple of days. My truck hardly ever has more than a half tank of gas. Work van on the other hand is usually always gassed up and has lots of tools that could be very helpful, but we'll never know how to deal with it till it happens, but I'd rather be safe than sorry

This was a decent article about what to carry (and what not to carry.) It seems like a mash between survivalist and military.

Washguy yes 300 miles is a long way to go especially from Dallas ! If you really want to do that take small trips using fm roads get where you want to be. I'm like you in a sense,I'm in Arlington but for land within a couple of hours away at max. The more isolated the better as long as you have water ! If using propane, think about how many people have grills in their backyards. Just an idea.
