That is actually what I run since it was the EXACT thing I was issued while active duty. I also have the assault pack that I picked up for a decent price. Those things (ruck and assault pack) are rugged as all heck.

I think beyond the normal stuff ( first aid kit or more , food/water , ammo ), it would be up to the individual . Some may make more room for ammo ( me ) & some may use more room for food & water . Its up to the individual .

Flame me, but as far as I know the only people who can successfully 'bug out' are Africans in Africa. The huts are mud. They have no tools. They might have some seeds for crops. Some sharpened sticks.

If shit goes bad, gold won't be worth a thing. Food, water, ammo, mags, survival gear. Three to five days at most. You can't wander forever. Unless you have to, but that's a different and worse scenario.

But, at that point, that's where those of us that are armed....will prey upon the sheep. Until their resources are used up....or until we're out of ammo. Then.....we get more basic and simpler. Not to get too dark or anything.
