cwikjr
And I'm happy!!! Kind of a rocky road getting it done... Figured I'd post in the right part of the fourm this time... Here link to the first part of the build... It now has a APF 15 inch FF hand guard 16 inch barrel with a rifle length gas system... Primary Arms is sending the correct gas tubes for the Tactical Ambush barrel I have the ArmaLite tubes are to short for it also... The guys a Alex Pro Firearms treated me too good service like I've not seen in years... Had to give them a plug!!!! Here's a picture and a video... I like it alot!!! To cold to do any real shooting today...

cwikjr
Nice. Now the ar-15 guys are gonna be all over your ass, "is that a 308?" Congrats Yep it's .308... Kind of nice to go from a mouse gun to a full size AR... Still love my .556 AR's... May have to do a SBR in .308!!! APF has 12.5 inch .308 barrels... edgecrusher
I'm doing a 12.5 with a noveske barrel
FaRKle!
I'm still not sure what a .308SBR does for you over a 7.62x39.
edgecrusher
Stopping power, range, crossover capability with my other firearms.
FaRKle!
Stopping power, range, crossover capability with my other firearms. The ballistics are pretty much the same as 7.62x39 with a .308 SBR, so I don't see how there's any increased stopping power or range. cwikjr
The thing that keeps me away from a 7.62x39 AR is the bolts break and the mags suck... And the days of $69 a case of Norinco ammo are long gone!!!

FaRKle!
Really ?Yes. You can find those statements from Knight's employees around the net on multiple forums explaining why there's no SBR SR-25 and why they only make 16"> barreled SR-25s. And the days of $69 a case of Norinco ammo are long gone!!! Check out the Cason Engineering enhanced 7.62x39 bolt. If you're opposed to an AR-47 lower (which uses standard AK mags) the ASC mags really aren't that bad
bigdaddy1957
Once you slow down a .308 by going with an SBR length barrel you basically get 7.62x39 ballistics. It maybe more accurate but the gun itself and ammo weight more than an AK and it's ammo. That's why I'm thinking you do not see anybody seriously using .308 SBRs. That might change with development of ammo in the future though. I almost forgot....That's a great looking rifle. Similar to what I have in mind for mine possibly. I'm still doing fact finding on parts and prices and hoping more companies come out with parts for the DPMS pattern. survivalshop
There are just a couple of holes in that theory . One you read it on the internet , two , have you done any chronograph testing , three , an SBR is not meant to be a long or med. range rifle , the SR 25 IS a Med. to Long range rifle . Comparing the 308 , 150 gr. to the AK 123 gr. bullets , the 150 will win , hands down in ballistics . I've thought of building a AR-47 lower from a Jack Squats puzzle piece lower... I like building hybrids... Here is my AR-180/15 lower on a ArmaLite 180 upper... I dubbed it the C.O.B®-180/15... C.O.B®=Crabby Old Bastard that's me... It may look a little rough but it works great!!! Working on a .308 version lower and upper... The rebirth of the ArmaLite AR-12 my winter project...
