Good news on the cycling now - but that means the gas port size is off.  I went through playing with the buffer weight only because I didn't want to rip the upper down and drill the gas port up.  Playing with the buffer weight did two things for me, and I knew that going into it:

1) easier than ripping the upper down.

2) if it cycled lighter, it would confirm that my gas port size is too small.

One day, I'll rip the upper apart and drill that gas port up.  <thumbsup>

Ok just so I was not talking out of my A$$ I just pulled my buffer it weighs 5 0z it is a solid buffer,,,, I have shot both supressed and unsurpressed 147, 187, and 220 and have never had a issue of any kind.... so I am thinking 5 oz is not a H3 so if I said the wrong thinmg my bad but I am still learning too.... my barrel is a 10 1/2 pistol lenght gas tube now one thing I know will help if you are short on gas is a pigtail gastube it has extra lenght and will capture more gas as i understand it ... maybe?

I don't have any experience at all with the pigtail gas tubes but the general consensus over at 300blktalk.com is that they create more problems than they solve and really don't work for the 300 platform.

98, what size should the gas port be?

.308, i haven't tried supersonics yet.  I didn't have time the day I was at the range. Next time.  COAL on that load is 2.260"

Minimum 0.090".  Shibi builds his pistol-length barrels with 0.100" gas ports, I'm pretty certain.

Yes, also depends on gas system length, but you can get away with 0.088" or bigger in a pistol-length system.
