The first question is always "What are going to use it for?" As 98Z5V said, Wilson Combat, Faxon and Ballistic Advantage will make a more than adequate barrel for most any need.

What caliber? What do you consider long range? What distance will you be shooting? What is the gun's intended use? Targets? Hunting? If I assume 308 and 500 yards and closer, you will not likely notice any difference in performance between the two barrels. What part of Texas are you in? There are plenty of places to shoot distance in Texas. You just have to know the right people or pay for the place.

Joseph, the young man in question, is up and around. He has been working some although he's not fully released from the doctor yet. He has a drive to help his parents with the everyday bills that they have. He does not want to sit around all day and be waited on. There will likely be no way to pay for the medical bills.
