Buy away. That’s the beauty of these guns. You can put a lot of different things on. Just stick to the reliable and basic stuff for the critical parts and the rest, run with whatever you think is cool. Looking forward to your completion as well. It’s always fun to see a finished rifle.

Mostly for rings for me. One piece is usually just fine as they get machined or cast as one aligned unit. I find the quick lapping and alignment bar to make rings work out quite well. Probably not necessary, but I can’t complain about how any have turned out.

I bought a kit from Wheeler that had lapping bars, an inch/lbs nut driver (something like Fat Max was the name on it). I think the nut driver can be found for like $15. Worth owning if you deal with scopes enough.

Triangular scales are definitely not a thing of the past. I use them all the time. I have never used a slide rule, though did get to play with one a few times.

It’s just a jamb nut to keep it from rotating. All of the strength (or weakness if you prefer) is in the threads of the tube and the rear of the receiver.

Good looking ribs! I might know a guy with the skills to build a cover you can grill under. The umbrellas are nice….but I picture a massive outdoor grilling setup with a beer fridge and a pizza oven too.

Our next week is scheduled to be just that Magwa, 40-30. Crazy we’d be matched up with northern Idaho right now. I might be heading up to Coeur d'Alene at the end of June.
