One of our old friends here in town was a survivor of Hamburger Hill. He didn’t speak a word for years after he got home apparently. People wondered if he ever would. I was a kid when I knew him and it’s been years. Can only imagine the memories that guy has buried within him...only to be spat on by people when he got back.

County has been extorting money from me left and right to get this building permit. Just paid the local school district we don’t attend $8.400. Next week I get to pay $3,200 in “traffic impact fees”. You know, because now that we have a house we’ll actually start driving our cars. Interestingly enough, I don’t touch a county maintained road between my house and work. All state and city. Then the Fire Marshall wants his cut, and county parks get to steal some too. Like paying property taxes for the rest of my life isn’t bad enough....we need a cut up front. The school bases theirs on Sq Ft which is insane. Should t it be by bedroom, or maybe just a flat fee? Nope. The bigger you make it the more they get. Not sure I follow the logic there. so yeah.....it’s gonna be tough, but I have some money lined up for the rifle, a scope, and hopefully 1000 rounds of ammo. Hurry up @Robocop1051

I heard a few weeks ago that we are close. Very close.

Guys did a kick ass job on our fire. And in 115 degree heat during the first part of it. Tuesday gave us higher humidity and not much wind. They had most of the active burning knocked down, but everyone was on edge for the wind coming in. Wind was milder than expected and the guys were all over any flare ups. It stayed stable and they continue to create the containment lines. We’re good for this fire it seems and we’ll be watching out for the next. This could be a nasty season.

That looks similar to the Eylar deal they just had. I bought a few and so far they seem to do the trick. Haven’t cut the foam yet though. Think the 38” cases were $115 and the 54” was $140. This isn’t how I plan to keep rifles, but was packaging stuff up for the possible evacuation. I can fit my 24” barreled ar15 with PRS and my bolt gun in one and theses two just squeezed into the short case.

Some day...I’m gonna have one of those. @sketch is gonna have two of them.

No life lost is a good one. Sorry for those who lost their homes. So far, we’ve got two injury/illness reports. 20 homes, 25 out buildings. They knocked it down really wel yesterday, but still only 11% contained. Not a lot of active burning but there is some starting back up with the winds today. We’ve got almost 700 guys on it right now. Hoping they hold it back today. They’ve already said they aren’t going to get in front of it due to the dangerous winds right now....so we’ll hope they can keep it as quiet as possible.

I broke quite a few, but that was the first bag I’ve come across that wasn’t fairly uniform. Like their QC has gone away. The place I had been buying pellets lately, Ace Hardware, has almost no selection last time I was in. They had some black Jack Daniels pellets, but I didn’t decide to try them.

I was forced to buy traeger pellets last time due to availability. A lot of the pellets were 3” to 4” long like the machine wasn’t breaking them. Fairly certain that’s what jammed the auger last time. No idea why it burned out yesterday. All was running as it should. The auger must have stopped, and then broke free on its own after the flame was out. The old traeger doesn’t have the “re-light” feature on it. Can’t wait for a new grill if we ever get the house built. from here on I will always dismantle and check the pot before relighting.

Stay safe Mags. We’re waiting to see what the wind does today. Reporting is terrible...wish they would give us some better updates. Weather is weird right now and all the smoke laid down and spread across the county. You can’t even tell where the fire is on the wildfire cameras.

It burned out during the cook. I just vacuumed it two cooks ago, but there was definitely residue in there. Auger jammed on me last cook. Had to tap on it a bit and got it going again. I assumed same deal, gave it some taps and turned it back on. Apparently I had a pile of pellets in the bottom and away she went. Was burning back into the auger and smoking out of the hopper. I probably could have saved the meat but was more concerned about outing the flames before I melted wires and stuff. Bah.

I don’t think that’s at all what he’s trying to say man. It’s obvious he struck a nerve with it, but I don’t think it was an attack on your manhood. Mack can correct me if I’m wrong, but that crap is embarrassing to read for us folks who consider ourselves your family and friends.

17,000+ acres, 3% contained, Santa Ana winds start tomorrow. Boy I hope they make some progress tonight. At least it cooled down a bit today. 15 degrees or so.
