  1. DPMS will take care of you . Hell tell them they have the wrong barrel on there from what you ordered , they may give you what you want , it doesn't hurt to ask & tell them your story .
  2. I would not worry about talking about it , its an honest malfunction & they didn't witness it , so it didn't happen . <thumbsup> As already said , the first thing I would do is disassemble the FCG & see if you have or had a spent primer under the disconnector or trigger & if all clean , check disconnector function or have a Smith check it out & make sure they are familiar with AR's .As said also , the disconnector spring could be broke or weak . . I have had both happen , spent primer in just the right place at the right time & had a disconnector go bad & same thing happened.
  3. I think you are better off not paying too much attention the the MilDots & use your Turrets for adj. for adding to or subtracting for range . If you sight in at 100 yards , thats your zero on the turrets & how many clicks for windage or elevation , at different ranges is what I use ,Once I set my zero , for example , mine are set at 100 yards , I have with a 168gr. load , its three clicks up & two clicks left for me to center @ two hundred yards , from my 100 yard zero. I Make notes or a dope chart for what bullet weight or load I use & I can always go to the notes to go to the right amount of clicks for them . Some tape these to there rifles for easy viewing . As said above , the MilDots or hash marks or BDC are just reference & will most likely never match up to different loads you are using . They are also as said for range estimation or quick shooting , Kentucky windage /elevation.
  4. I went into Gander Mountain today to see if they had any of my favorite Deer food & they were out , probably till hunting season , but I walked over to to the ammo section & low & behold they had a display of REAL CCI Mini Mag ammo for sale . I picked up the max per customer of 500 & I had another appointment to make so I came back a half hour later & picked up another 500 & that display was almost gone . One of my bro's talked me into selling him the extra 500 ( his grand children love shooting .22's ) I don't need all that ammo any way . The only .22 I have shot in the last ten years is for testing a firearm I have worked on . This is the first time in at least four years( or maybe more ) I have sen .22 CCI ammo on sale , any where . They had the Remington buckets of .22 for $ 69.99 & I passed it up , even though it was more ammo for the price.
  5. This is what I use for installing & aligning upper rails . Problem is yours is already installed & you need to loosen the hand guard nut up to probably to re-align the rail . DETAILS Add to Favorites Add to Wish List ITEM DETAILS Made in the USA MAKE MODEL Make: AR-15/M4
  6. Double check your reloading procedures & loadings . Make sure of proper trim to length & sized correctly .What type sizer die are you using ? Full length or Small base . RP ( Remington Peters ) is some soft brass & may not like hotter than normal loadings . I get some of my best groups with RP brass , go figure . I mostly use LC brass (Lake City )
  7. Factory rifle ? If so, call DPMS to take care of it .
  8. Just think how many others are going to think or be forced to think the same way & do you think the people in these out of the way places will welcome all the hordes coming from the City's , with welcome arms . "Yes , come join us , we will share our supplies with you " NOT ! The fact is , what ever happens to make this Sereno , it will not be scripted by anything in a survival book , it will be pure chaos & being prepared helps more than not , that's for sure . Just don't expect it to go down in much of the forms in writings. Since this is thread is about B.O.B.'s & where I live , It would be a last resort to bug out at all , but still good to have one in case of natural disasters & should be kept close at hand , just in case. I live in Hurricane world down here & having a B.O.B. in my car/truck could mean the difference between life & death if caught out in something like a Hurricane , Tornado , earth Quake ,fire , etc. ( or that you may have to leave because of one of them )
  9. Nice , let us know how it works out . That's an expensive 22 cal. charging handle .
  10. I would call or email Amilite , that should never made it past inspection or could have been bumped in shipping . They will tell you how or what to do with it . I agree, the hand guard tube is out of alignment , but not sure if just loosening the cinch nut, if it will align correctly or if there is some kind of pin system that was also mentioned .
  11. Your reloads or factory ammo ?
  12. I've got a TRX & I can't move my hand guard , its on my 300BLK , sounds like they are not assembled correctly . 308 hand guard shouldn't be any different .
  13. Did the hand guard turn when you tightened that hand guard nut up or did you get this upper complete ?
  14. Buffer & spring also work to feed the next round into the chamber , there is a balance of sorts that is needed for proper function of a complete recoil & feeding cycle of the action. The inertia of the buffers weight helps all this happen . The issue of the right weigh buffer has to do with a couple of factors . I wait till the action is properly broke in , for any tuning with the buffer & spring. There are only a few choices in weights , so they will all pretty much work , but some will work better than others depending on several factors .
  15. Hand guard flexing ?
  16. The have portable solar panels now a days also . They fold or roll up , some pretty small to charge cell phones & Lap tops & Tablets or rechargeable batteries .
  17. Goooooo, south ! <thumbsup>
  18. Its not just the ramp , though you can alter it to work . The bottom of the BS is keeping it up higher & interfering with BCG travel , the BS is regulated in its travel by the cut in the lower receiver & you don't want to mess with that , so you take some off the bottom of the BS where it hits the bottom of the cut in the receiver , you may be able to take enough off to let the BS sit lower in the receiver enough to clear the BCG's travel . If you look at your photo , you can not only see the ramp is more pronounced , but also the stop tang on the BS ( flat area above your thumb ) & that is where you can remove material to let the buffer spring for the BS force it deeper in the receiver . The AR 15 may or may not work & if it does , it may not hold the bolt back for long , most times the BCG will drop back into battery with the slightest movement or bump of the rifle .
  19. So they ordered a rifle & didn't check on the model year changes or that the rifle they ordered was the same as their old data on it read & just ordered it ! They own this , you told them what you wanted & what it looked like & what configuration you wanted & they gave or ordered you something different . If you ordered a mustang & they got in a F150 , would that be OK ? Its still a Ford product , just not what you ordered . I 'm sorry , but this is unacceptable to me & I was a 20 yr. FFL dealer & if something I ordered for a customer came in wrong , it would go back or I would make it up in some way to the customer's satisfaction, even if it was on my dime , just the way I conducted business & you should not expect less . Its the dealers responsibility to keep informed or check on model changes , If not, they are just gun pushers & not a firearms dealer . Like I said , they own this mistake & its up to you to decide what you want , of course if you are now in possession of said rife , its yours now . OK I'm off the soap box ! <dontknow>
  20. Why ,Shiver me timbers .
  21. I have been looking at combat Tomahawks & a new folding shovel , just haven't made my mind up yet .
  22. I would measure as said, to see which receiver extension it will fit . If it was advertised that its for a commercial extension , the stock will be too loose on a Mil spec. Mil Spec outside extension tube dia . is 1.15" Commercial outside tube dis. is 1.17"
  23. My wife got me something for my pak to use for hunting & now one resides in my B.O.B , its a sealable water proof inside liner & I can tell you from hunting in the rain for three days , it keeps it dry in there . Of course thats if your pak is not water proof already . Still a good idea. As said, the Magnesium fire starter is a must , Bic lighters don't work too well below a certain temperature , unless you keep them in your pocket ,next to body heat.
