  1. Wonder with the different muzzle blast signature , if a Brake for a 308, would work with a 300 win. mag . Or does it even matter ?
  2. I trust the repeatability of a FF hand guard attachments any day over a std. type hand guard. Which is how the MOE attaches .
  3. Could be just the polymer tip, itself , that's at different lengths . One would think , unless the tip is interfering with the seating plug of the die, they should seat into the case about the same . Most seating plugs use the bullets ogive to seat the bullet & if the tip was not interfering with the seating stem/plug ,they should not be any deeper in the case . Unless the bullets are indeed out of spec's. I have to check my Hornady bullets , because I use a lot of them for different calibers .
  4. I think some where here , it was said that there 168 gr. match bullets ,varied also . I have some & have not got around checking them yet Polymer tipped bullets ? I get anal by weighing my brass & put them in batches by weight . Not a bad idea with bullets , I may start looking a little closer at them also.
  5. Any news on the BCG's ?
  6. Fudge, I have to send mine new one back. Seems the pin that connects the two trigger half's is a tight fit or some thing . If I flip my trigger it will work every time , but slowly doing it , it hangs up . This is the second new S&W I have bought, in the last four years , that had to go back ,Now I'm having second thoughts about the M&P 9mm ,I was going to get.
  7. Wouldn't of thought of it ,if you hadn't brought it up .
  8. You do know that you have to feed your sickness, that we all have , its not like we want it to go away or some thing . <dontknow>
  9. I also believe its fine & probably tight because of the coating . I would be happy to have a snug "GO " gage on a match barrel . Take her out & do your safety checks of the action & safety & give the rifle some break in rounds, if all safety checks work out ok & spent cases look OK . Then check head space again, I think you will be satisfied with the outcome.
  10. I like the MOE hand guards , but FreeFloat hand guards can't be beat for stability for mounting equipment & bipods. Not to mention a more accurate shooting platform . Welcome to 308AR
  11. Your cartridge case will fit in the bolt head cartridge pocket , but the head space gage ,will not ? Is that correct ? If so , what manufacturer made the gage ? Did you try fitment & head space , with the ejector & extractor removed ? Some gage's require you to do so & some just ejector removal is required & yet some need no disassembly at all of the bolt .
  12. Nice mount . I clean & de-grease all screws & screw/nut holes & use small amount of blue loctight , on all mounting hardware. Just incase you are a strong bolt tightener , use manufacturer's rated tightening sequence & or torque values.
  13. Or until he puts a large scope on it .
  14. Graf & sons have Jamison's 200 gr. hp & 124 gr. hp ammo in stock.
  15. 8) What, no Tac 1 charging handle ? I'm shocked .
  16. Detents & there springs are what I get asked for most of the time . I buy them in 10 pak's because i'm asked a lot for them. I was asked for a buffer retainer spring the other day & didn't have one & I usually have them , but was out for some reason. A bolt kit( extractor & spring, ejector & spring ,gas rings) ,spring kit , a lower & upper parts kits . If some one needs a new trigger , hammer or,disconnector, I usually just get them a trigger system (ALG, Spike's or a custom match trigger system , if they want to spend the money & that's what its all about . Most just want to get back in action.
  17. The clamp on type tend to be a little taller on the bottom clamp area , But pretty much, they are all I use.
  18. Did I miss Melonite finish in that test ?
  19. That's a good question , but I think there are no real spec's as you describe , only what could be milspec as far as Carbine or Rifle length gas tubes , now with the mid length . Not sure I have ever seen a spec on how far the gas tube penetrates the upper receiver . I have to look to see if I have any thing in print on the subject.
  20. Your idea of the AR 10 gas tube may indeed work , the only way you can get an accurate measurement of the two barrels shoulder to barrel extension seating flange , would have to have stripped barrels . The gas block may also not be to spec's . I see you have two different ones .
  21. That's a lot of mags. Weight & portability are important factors for hunting . The older I get the more I try to lose from my hunting kit .
