  1. I was at the fun store the other day to pick up a lower & I had a chance to pick one of them up and feel it . Man, that thing is heavy ,but that is a nice stock . I may have to change the full stock on my 20" . I would not even think about putting it on my 16 " , I like that under 10 # rifle the way she is .
  2. Both my 308's have AR 15 fire control groups in them ,no alterations except I like to polish mine up a bit before install .
  3. A cut down spring & wood spacer . You will have to experiment with lengths of both spring & spacer . ( I think now , it would be easier to just buy them ) I have done it before for a hunt in a state that required a five round mag capacity & I took a scoped FN-FAL with an altered 20 rd. mag. I set up to hunt with . Didn't see a legal buck , but the following year I took a nice seven point with my scoped M1 Garand.
  4. Your standard buffer & spring in your rifle should handle any .308 ammo out there , with out changing them . Some use specialized buffers for a lot of different reasons . Some say its the only way to get the rifle to function correctly . If your rifle doesn't function with the std. buffer /spring set up ,be it rifle length or carbine system (with the proper buffer & spring ) there is some thing not right right with the way the rifle was manufactured or a combination of components that are not with in spec's. Some rifles are tight out of the factory & need a proper break in to function properly. Some have tight or rough chambers ,right from the factory ( I would put that into out of spec. category) This should not be , coming from a factory rifle , shows poor quality control in my book. You can change buffers & springs for a particular load or ammo , but that may bring you into the realm of it may not function the action with other loads or ammo .
  5. Any one reload this brass ? Its that stuff from Wideners , PRVI 308 with boxer primed brass . http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=7240&dir=18|830|848
  6. Just try different ammo combo's & if your a reloaded just try different bullet & charge weights or different powder's I'm sure the barrel will shoot fine also , just not sure of what it will like to eat , The 1-10 will give good results as an average with different loads & bullet combo's . I think the 1-12 would be more of a target type twist for longer range , but it should have no problems shooting any .308.
  7. I'm sure you have read about the cancellation of MI's from South Korea . Kinda makes one wounder WTF , they sell them every day here . Also makes ya wounder who may be behind it or help influence the decision . If you are into conspiracy theory's , Look who would not like to see all them rifles coming on to the market .
  8. That is strange . They must have changed things up a bit . I also though that they only changed the 20 + to 1/12 . My 20" & 16" are both 1/10 . I don't it being a problem , the 1/12 & 1/11.5 are becoming std . now a days. Hay , if you don't like it , send it back . It was advertised as a 1/10/.
  9. If the trigger/hammer spring works in a 5.56 & that's what I have in both of my 308's , as do most of us who have stock triggers from DPMS or who ever, the AR 15 type Timney should have no problem working in the 308 version. I have read of some using them when they first came out , with no problems . Just makes ya wounder if indeed there are differences between the two types . Maybe they had problems in the past . I could get one & see if I have problems & just put in on of my 5.56 if I do . I also see that Rainer arms had them on sale for $ 159.00 for Labor day sale. There is a code they e-mailed me , to get that price.
  10. I will be disassembling the rifle to check the roller cam pin & will speak up if I see any thing out of the ordinary . I believe its more likely may hand loads , short stroking the action . Like I said this bullet is a subject of a thread in its self . Its a really good grouper & I would like to get it to function reliably ,but the shape is causing problems feeding in semi auto's .I'm experimenting with OAL & charge weights & I think I went to low of a charge . They all functioned ,but might be just a tad low to force the BCG back far enough to completely engage the bolt stop .
  11. What's the difference between the 308 trigger & the Ar 15 ? Is it a heaver hammer , spring , what ? I'm using AR 15 parts in both my 308"s & they have no problem firing off the primer , so why would they offer the 308 for more $$ , than the AR 15 ?
  12. That pretty much shows its a mag or how the mag is attached to the rifle, problem.
  13. Worked just fine as far as the BCG was concerned , but the BCG did not stay back when last round was fired ,again . I thought I got that taken care of . I'm hoping that its not just because of the change of one part . I was using a special 169 gr. ,solid copper bullet I have & hand loaded , so the problem may lie there. The shape of this bullet makes it not a good feeder in any of my semi auto 308's ( feed a complete mag ,this test )& the load is still in development stages, but that's another story.
  14. Yes , the bullet button could need some tweeking to get the mag high enough or stable enough to feed reliably. Might also look deeper in to your mag conversion .( 10/20 )
  15. C product mags ? If so, yes they are a good mag brand. Doesn't mean that there couldn't be some thing wrong with them . Try a different manufacturer mag ,just to see if the problem persists. Borrow one if ya can ,( just to test against yours ) from a fellow shooter at the range or some one you shoot with .
  16. I knew I could go with more powder , I just tried them out against my WC 846 , to compare. Want to see some group photo's posted , if ya can .
  17. And matching 308 buffer & spring . Cabine or rifle .
  18. I got a SI Defence ,gen. II billet upper for one of my 308's & I like it . Not sure if I have a use for there side rail on the upper ,but it is made well . They have a gen. III with out the side rail & it has a forward assist. I would buy another . I just wish they had made the gen. III when I was looking for an upper , I would have bought it just because of the FA.
  19. Try loading the P-mags to the full 20 rounds & letting them set that way for a few days to a week . I had the same problems with my CMMG lower as far as feeding (no mangled rounds ). The CMMG lower just did not like the P-mags at first until I seasoned the mag springs with a full loading an setting aside for a week . Mine all function fine now . The DPMS & C Product mags worked fine . Look in the Generial section under "16 " barrel with rifle length gas system ". I have a CMMG lower with a SI Defence ,Gen. II billet upper.
  20. Most feeding problems are associated with the magazine. Have you tried different manufactures . I am not familiar with that cal. , but I'm sure there are more than one manufacturer of mags for it .
  21. I like that front sight , not the rear . Look like well made units though. I have Magpuls on one of my 308's & like them .
  22. I got my POF roller bearing cam pin yesterday & installed it today . Fit was not a problem & testing it , the BCG seems to me , to run a little easier . No scientific testing but the BCG just slides home & locks with out a problem . Will do some range testing maybe tomarrow to see how it works . They say no lubrication needed ,but I did not like the way the rollers sounded & felt , so some CLP & it feels like it should .
  23. You can send the barrels maker a DPMS bolt for them to head space to the barrel . I have had no problems with them at all . I do have a spare as with my 5.56 AR's . Barrel extensions can be had from a lot of different places ,DPMS , Midway , SI Defence, Brownells , etc. . You can have a stainless steel or plain phosphated steel , your choice. Just to let you know ,I and others have had no problems with Fulton Armory , Krieger Criterion barrels . I have two and the both check out & shoot fine .

    POF 308

I just put on lay a way a 5.56 (marked multi cal. )lower from them , billet , w/amb. mag release. Very impressed with the quality. I put it on lay a way plan because I also bought a LWRC 5.56 nato lower for a build I have already in progress & was short on cash for the POF yesterday.
  25. Barrel nut should be fine ,now the gas block, (if different size ) will need to be changed , but I'm sure you knew that.
