CProducts LLC DPMS/SR25 308 Magazines $12.75
survivalshop replied to imschur's topic in Gear & Accessories
The twenty five rounders are not on the CProducts web sight yet . Hard to believe they would be on the market yet if not shown on there sight ,but ya never know . As far as having problems with there mags ,mine run 100% reliability & I have a bunch of them. Who's been running there twenty five round mags ? -
I ordered the Lee again . I will order another one next time I order and use one for large primers ,one for small primers . Maybe they will last longer .LOL I have been loading with my Lee 1000 and putting the final seating of the primer with it . I truly need a Dillon ,gotta quit buying AR parts for a while . Lucky for me I'm going to have to think about what to build next , a perfact time to save enough for the Dillon I want .

Some are always loaded ,some are just in designated boxes(223,308 ).

My thoughts , exactly.

Well, my almost thirty year old Lee hand priming tool started to not seat primer all the way. This tool has been very useful through out the years ,just the last hundred or so 308's it started to give me trouble . Last night ,priming 45 acps ,I had to resort to finnish priming with my single stage press priming attachment ( I had to look for all the parts ). I need a new one ,but I'm torn between a new Lee or maybe some thing else. (I almost said some thing better ,but hard to beat that many years of service.) What are you reloaders using with good results ?

Fulton Armory is where I got both my rifle & carbine springs & buffers. Both work fine . -

Millet, TRS 1 ,4x16x50 scope & Extreme Tactical rings from Burris. -
I think Ithaca made some 1911's for WW II . As said, could be some one had it Nickled. That would be a good score !

Case tumbling with brasso cleaner media mixed ??
survivalshop replied to KS Shooter's topic in Reloading
You should wipe your brass off after tumbling ,no matter what you use. I see people getting good results with "Lemi-shine" on old tarnished brass & then tumbling them after words. I think its two table spoons per quart of warm water & sitting over night. -
Are you neck sizing only for your AR 308 ? Semi auto reloads should be full length sized, at least. Just be careful with any type crimping die ,if you over do it ,they will set the case back & bulge the case shoulder.( especially 223 ) I personally use small base die's ,but most will not need them .

Supreme Court ruling on Chicago gun ban
survivalshop replied to Madhouse's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Just like DC did ,they will make it almost impossible to have one ,with all the hoops you will have to jump through . Its "us" they are afraid of ,not the guns . Nor do they really care about crime . They want us dependant on them for every thing ,including our lives . Its all about power , over us . -

AP4 Carbine Buttstock Replacement
survivalshop replied to KS Shooter's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
The carbine castle nut may be straked in place or they might have lock tight-ed it . A good carbine stock wrench is a good investment ,but you can use a pin punch , just be careful & have the the stock supported in some way. You can get any ones std. stock & rifle length receiver extension (any AR stock & receiver extension will fit ) ,but you will need a 308 rifle length spring & rifle buffer ( your carbine spring & buffer & receiver extension will not work ). You can get them from from DPMS or some one who sells DPMS parts. (Midway ,Fulton Armory ,just to name a few ) -
I finally got out & put some rounds on target with the 16" bbl. with the rifle length gas system & she shot pretty damn good for a stock trigger & 4x32 ,ten + year old turkey scope . I also put a set of Magpul sights on her .Here's the story below . The first test firing ,I had problems with the rifle not functioning with more than five rounds with the PMags , I loaded them up with twenty rounds & placed the caps on them & let them set that way since the first firing . They worked flawlessly , both mags numerous times with different loadings of rounds & they held the bolt back last round . All other rounds works flawlessly ,I had no malfunction , except after the first two PMags that held the bolt back last round ,no mags afterward would hold it back . I could lock it manually (some thing I could not do the first test ) I tested every mag I had with me & no difference . It will need more tweeking ,spring tension may be the problem now . I could only get on the 100yd. range today ,because there was some kind of shoot going on in the other three ranges ,I wanted to sight the rifle in @ twenty five first ,but I was hitting the 24x24 cardboard with the way the scope was set up ,what luck . So I dialed her in as best as I could with a stock trigger with 9+ # pull & about a mile of creep ,but crisp disengagement . After doing some test firing to make sure how & what kind of grouping I would get .I cleaned the barrel & chamber & put some of my 172 gr. hand loads down range , she grouped much better than the Milspec ,but the trigger & scope were not up to the task . I took the scope off & put the Magpuls on & she was shooing a little high ,So dialed the front sight up a bit and was surprised at how nice she shot with open sights , I had my doubts about the inexpensive Magpuls ,but they were nice even in rapid firing . I will post some photos tomarrow , those DE Magpuls look real nice on that rail & match my CTR. Oh I had so many people come up & ask me what the" hell was I shooting ". Rapid fire , 100yrds, 147 gr. FNM nato ammo My 172 gr. hand loads . need trigger work. 100 yrd ,magpul sights ,rapid fire from a rest Like I said ,needs some good trigger work & I kinda like the Magpul sights. That's a 3" targadot .

Try a good muzzle brake or go to a gas block with a regulator( although I have not seen one that has any kind of sophistication to it ,yet .A set screw in it ,just doesn't seem all that sophisticated ). I have a PRI brake on my 20 " bbl. & it made a substantial difference. The rifle is on the heavy side though .

I have found that it is a good idea to use powders that show over charge . I think you will find that when most of the case is filled ,you get the best loads any way . I think that it is a economic decision to use a powder that you use less ,more rounds per pound . One that can bite you if you are not careful . I have an Anaconda in 44 mag. & since I use it to hunt ,all my charges are hand weighed. I also have no problem using my Redding measure to load for volume . I just check the charge once in a while & look over the loading block with a strong light ,to see if all charges look the same level . Since I went to a digital scale I hardly use my beam scale . I do check my initial charge weight with both. You can never be too careful.

That one was the only " customisable around ,when I built my first 308. Its unfortunate that after the install of the JP, " VTEC " ,that one (not having or unable to sell ,parts for them ) would be low on my list of purchasing . As I am trying to get around other manufacturers that have " changed major things " to suit there own needs & not there buyers wants. I actually like it .

That's a lot of cash for a bbl. , are they that much better ,other than weight reduction ?
-
Maybe I was just to fast for them ! <thumbsup>

Most like the receiver fit to be on the snug side . I have only one AR that is on that side , the rest have some play.( including my 308"s ) The long range shooters may speak up ,but I have not found a difference between tight & loose or some play as far as how they shoot ,but I have never done anything as far scientific testing . The beauty of the AR system is that every thing that needs to be aliened is on the upper receiver ,so it really shouldn't matter. You can get matched sets of uppers & lowers ,I have one I built from Olympic Arms that is well over twenty years young . Its an odd ball build as most see now a days , she has a Ultra match ,24" ,1-10 bbl..( this one has a small amount of play ) Non of my 5.56 AR's have Flat top receivers , they are too old for them new fangled things ,but the 24 " is as good as it gets a 100 yds. with Iron sights. I guess at my age ,I should put a scope on her & try it out. Scope choice, well there are so many out there ,just how much do you want to spend?
