Ya , he makes them , but they are not on sale for this price , other wise I would think about it . I get Xtra high Burris Extreme Tactical Rings that are perfect height for 1/3 the price or less or the Warne QR , work also . Like Marks stuff , just never in my price range .
-
Good deal , too bad it 's not high enough for me ,like all other one piece mounts out there .

The use of the Laser will tell you if the Gas Block or sight is off , if the sights sight plane is dead nuts in line with the Uppers Rail ( measured aligning marks at the front & back of the Rail ) then that tells you it could be the Barrel thats off , be it mounting of Rifling or some other weird stuff . If you are using Magpul Plastic/Polymer sights , they are not made to mount on a Railed Gas Block & they tell you so in the instructions , if they are the Pro's , not an issue . I have never trusted Railed Gas Blocks to be precisely aligned with the Upper Receiver or that they are level with the Uppers Rail . If you had a Railed HG , did you try the Front sight on the HG's Rail ? That Laser I used was on a New Colt Carbine that was shooting so far right , the rear sight was buried to the left & still shot 8" right , by using the Laser , I found that the Taper Pinned A2 Front Sight Tower was off to one side , removing the Tapered Pins & aligning the Sight tower so it was dead on aligned with the Uppers Rail ( shown in the Photo ) , the rear sight could be adj. to center hit all ammo used in it , though its was still left in the rear Sight adj. , you could still do a little adj. with it . If the front Sight is low on that Gas Block Rail , you will have issues doing any adj. on it & if that Gas Block is off to one side or the other , even a couple of hairs , you will have issues sighting the rifle . All this still doesn't mean you could have a goofy shooting Barrel , I've seen those also . The Upper Receivers can be Tweaked out of alignment by not using proper Fixtures to install the barrel or not having them set up properly . DPMS Rifles , like most production rifles are built by factory line personal , like any factory , no longer are firearms made or assembled by GunSmiths .They make too many . Ordinary factory workers on an assembly line assemble them & DPMS doesn't make their own Barrels , so hard to say who makes them ,

I don't know , I think you may need that kit for your self , my neck hurts looking at your shooting stance .

PSA PA10 GEN 2 build, with parts list and cost
survivalshop replied to odie64's topic in Palmetto State Armory
AR 10 Extractor spring system is with just the spring & one O-ring , I believe . If the BCG doesn't have a spring loaded firing pin , its aDPMS type BCG . DPMS has a two Spring set up with a small dia. spring inside a larger one & no o-ring . Their new system has an Elastomer spring ( some kind of rubber ) no steel spring or o-ring . people say they work good , it only comes as a kit , Extractor & elastomer spring . Its what they use in their new GII 308AR , kit is made for the LR series 308AR's . -
Not bad , better than $ 42 I still haven't tried out my 10 round L 7's I got & after, I think it was jtallen83 had an issue with his , makes me want to try them out even more .

Let us know how you think about it , the Rule will take effect shortly Will be waiting for you review . -
Still using the Railed Gas Block or did you use a upper Rail for the front sight on the FF HG ? ( if it had one ) Do you have or can you use another complete Upper to try out , a shooting buddy 's or something . You can also use a laser to see how the sights line up with the Upper's Rail .
-
I hope you mean , Extractor ? The Extractor Pin & Spring system should be fine . I also have heard the new DPMS II replacement system that works in the LR series of DPMS rifles , works good also . These Extractors are not cheap , no matter which one you get.
-
The POF & DPMS have different Receiver Pin sizes ( Disassembly & Pivot ) , if memory serves me . Fulton sold DPMS Receivers for a while early on & then supposedly made or had their own made up later .
-
A D.Wilson BCG ? If so , change the Extractor to a authentic DPMS Extractor , I had the same issue with one used in a build & there have been a couple others . This is not because of a bad or flawed machining process, its because of Tolerance Stacking with some 308AR rifles , no standards & some just don't play well together . As a matter of fact , I had some posts on the subject , somewhere around here .
-
From my DPMS Upper receiver , this is an old build , my first 308AR many years ago , probably 10-12 years ago . Its before I was at this forum , & maybe before this Forum its self , because its how I met Imschur , who is king $hit here well maybe to himself . My guess is , as said , it may be a Side Charger made or altered by Fulton Armory , but its a DPMS Slick side as 98 noted .

You fuker's are making me jealous

Looks like its been converted to a side charing Upper . I will look at mine to see if any markings on them . Photo's can show details , that may not be noticed by all .

5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
Only have one 69 gr. SMK , have 5 , 55 gr. SMK 's & about 30, 52 gr. SMK's , so I guess I would have to order some 77 or 75 gr. Bullets , I like the BC of the tipped SMK . The whole thing about this is , I've been setting up all my rifles for the more normal Combat ranges , I have no where to shoot over 200 yards . The place I found that has a 800 yard range is a joke , the bro's at the range tell me none of them will go shoot there again , they have a raised platform that will only seat or accommodate six people & when they move around the platform , it shakes & moves around . F that . So the 62 & 55 gr. loads will do me just fine & I will concentrate on those & my 155 gr. for the 308 , at least until I find a long range facility that won't cost me $ 100 to shoot for a day & is not 100 miles away . -
5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
To me it looks like the X-Terminator is a better choice for this Barrel , of course ES & SD or Velocity , don't mean good groups , be it close or far ranges , but it sure helps with consistency in groups & basically , isn't that what we are looking for ? I will still load up the next test loads the same way , just to see how the two different Powders print & I want to see how well they do out of my 16"s . A 1-8, Piston & a 1-7 twist, DI . I have been loading all these Tac Powder loads to .223 spec's , I should have read up on it more , as said I some how missed that loading data when I looked this Powder up . Yes Tac shoots well with 155 gr. 308's too ! -
5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
I think your right about the Barrel length & how most Bullets will shoot , the reason the 1-7 is used on the M4 with heavy Bullets is because of the short barrel . I have tried the 69 gr. SMK @ 200 yards & they shot real good , but at the time I still had the A2 Upper & Sights on , as I built it . Now with a Flat top & Scope , the rifle may shoot very well indeed . I did notice something shooting this rifle with these loads , some fired Brass were landing on my bare Arm & made me stop to clear the hot freaking thing off me . this has all the original Buffer components in it & before I shoot again , I will change out the Buffer Spring with a new one , I just happen to have a couple laying around . Might change out the Bolt component Springs also. -

I started this , if you need me to change something , let me know , maybe the important personal here might notice & do something

I'm starting a thread on this in hopes the STAFF here will make it Pinned . Only info needed here is if you know your Barrels Port size , post it here , with Manufacturer , Gas system length & Barrel length & if you had to make any changes to it to make it work if you had issues. Kreiger Criterion 308 ,16" HB , Rifle Gas system ------ 0.1095 " Sharps , 25-45 Sharps , 20" LT , Rifle gas system ---- 0.09375" Here is some info from Tactical Machining AR-15 GAS PORT SIZES Disclaimer: These are lists of compiled information from multiple sources. While we make our best effort to test and produce these should be considered for reference only. Any time you start messing with the gas port on your rifle you run the risk of destroying the barrel or causing it to be over gassed. So who's in charge of this $hit ?

After using Rock Set on the Thread Protector , it didn't move for the last testing . The new test loads were in the 2700 fps range & can be seen in the reloading section thread , there was a slight increase in recoil , if you could call it that , but no muzzle rise with no Brake on their Barrel/Caliber , quite surprising . Might have something to do with the Geissele Buffer system . Rifle is shooting good , no cleaning or re-lubing , since assembly with the " 98 Special " . I'm going to order another HG just like this one , but in Gray & also get another Stock in Gray . To match the Pistol Grip , of course .

5.56 loads with Ramshot , Tac & X-Terminator Powders
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Reloading
The Test Rifle ( has a different scope on it now ). I know 69 gr. SMK work well with this twist rate & also 53 gr. SMK shoot very good , I never tried 77 gr. , the 62 gr. are not bad also . If you look at the X-terminator ES &SD , they should be a better load If I wasn't in a hurry for the shots , I know all would have been better . I will make up the same loads & some a little different & I think I have a few 69 gr. SMK's left .Also , I was zeroing in the scope at the same time . -
I was looking at the Ramshot Load data & I have been loading with Tac Powder with in the .223 load data & stumbled across their load data for the 5.56 pressure data & since I have some of their X-Terminator , which is said to be good for the 5.56 loads , I tried some out the other day while doing some Chrono testing for the 25-45 Sharps . Some good results were got , even though I was testing in the beginning of a Thunder storm & the last two were in a pouring rain & done with quick shooting . all were MOA & some if I took my time I'm sure would have been sub MOA . Rifle has a 24" , 1-10 Ultra Match Barrel from Olympic Arms & was installed when built in the late seventies . Bullet was 62 gr. Hornady FMJHP Powder / Charge wt. Avg. Vel. ES SD # 13 , X-Terminator 24.0 gr. 3044 fps 59 26 # 14 ,X-Terminator 24.3 gr. 3080 fps 7 3 # 12 ,X-Terminator 24.5 gr. 3097 fps 5 2 # 17 ,Tac 24.8 gr. 3053 fps 45 22 # 16 ,Tac 25.0 gr. 3066 fps 25 12 # 15 ,Tac 25.5 gr. 3118 fps. 20 10 Interesting results , I'm kinda digging the X-Terminator for consistency & will do more testing . I was sighting in a different scope on the 24" so they were all over the paper until I got them on center , of course by then I had gusting 30 knot wind & a down pour . I will post the target with the better outline of the %.56 loads , but it can be seen in the 25-45 Sharps reloading Thread , its the # 2 Target .

There is a little more room in the case for Powder , but not much . I think the H335 has a little more room then the X-Terminator at those load levels . Whats good about the 90 gr. GK is there Boat tail is , it gives a little more room for Powder . The second target may have worse groups because by the second test load , it was a 30 knot wind from behind me & to the left & by the time I got to the last 5.56 test loads out, it was a Monsoon . My old ass had to sprint 200 yards to there & back to get my stand . The ES & SD of the H 335 shows much better , but also the X -Terminator Powder was the last to be shot , not sure if it means anything , but ya never know on a new Barrel . I was trying to zero the scope in , but quickly found out that the 87 & 90 gr. Bullets shot right & left , depending on which one I zero'ed in on , so I'm going to zero on the 90 gr. GK . I will continue the testing of this box of 87 Speer , but will not purchase any more .
