Is there a minimum quality standard for your agency? Not sure if sight mark is something that should be anywhere near a duty weapon. Far as 1st/2nd focal goes, I wouldn't put too much worry into it. If you are shooting close range, you won't be dialing knobs or ranging so it doesn't really matter. if you are far enough away to need that, you will be in 10x already.

I've built a dozen ARs for noobs the past year. All of them started with $400 PSA build kits. Several have been bitten and are on second and third ARs. At this point everyone buying with political motivations already has guns. Low prices will hook all the remaining people who have considered buying but put a low priority on it.

ASA has had my carrier for over 2 weeks. I haven't bugged them yet but seems like a 10 min job. Probably should have just had it done local. Oh well...almost done.

@shepp looks like you may run into the same issue I have with my raised VLTOR and PRI top rails. The one piece mounts are generally too tall. The ADM RECON S and RECON SL are pretty low. GGG also makes a low one for bolt action rifles. These are not cantilever mounts, but since the gun has a continuous top rail you don't need the offset. It really depends on the OD of the scope objective and how much clearance you need. Remember to measure. The objective size listed is the inner lense, not the OD. I have 2 42mm obj scopes and there is about a 4mm difference in OD between them. Makes a big difference when trying to figure out what rings to get. I spend ALOT of time on this crap, but I'm generally pretty happy with the results. In the pics you posted, the guy sitting with the 1-4 scope looks terrible. Way too high to be comfortable, and the more height over bore of your scope, the more issue with parallax you will have.

I had the fortune to be at the right place in the right time where a HEMMET full of AT5s and LAWs had to be "utilized" We banged missiles off of old dead Russian tank corpses for about 4 hours. It was glorious. that was back in the bush days though. Now we funnel them to terrorist through CIA black sites.

Not much will survive a direct hit from a modern ATGM, and our scumbag leadership has been sending them top shelf gear for years. If it hit the back of the turret, they may have survived, that's where the ammo racks are. the rear and top of the turret have "blow off" plates that are designed to let go in the event of ammo cookoff. The 120mm are caseless and will light off very easy. If that was a turret ring hit, the crew was probably liquefied...but not likely from that angle. Halon isn't going to help either way. Abrams armor is very thick on the front slope and front of the turret. The rear hull is basically a steel grill/exhaust vent. The tank wasn't designed to show its ass to the enemy, or be sitting out in the open with no wing man. a platoon is 4 tanks running staggered and platoon formation covers about 270° of interlocking fire to the front of the formation. gunner and TC can scan individually and It's not easy to hide from thermal sights. US tactics keep the enemy out front and trained crews use the equipment properly. These dirka dirkas get our tanks and just sit out there like idiots. Same as firing TOWs at Toyota pickups, or even individual human target. They aren't paying for it so who cares. hurts my heart to see camel fuckers on those proud beasts...like lions in those tiny cages at the county Fair.

Not really an update...but I just had a lightbulb moment while helping a buddy with a build and thought I would post it for posterity I ran into clearance issues with the pri tube and FSGB. Armalite puts their gas port a little further out than DPMS. I assume they do this because the AR10 barrel nut is thicker than an AR15 barrel nut, and the longer port placement makes up the difference and allows usgi drop in handguards to fit. My matrix is the older AR10 pattern, so I ordered the AR10 pattern rail from PRI, but the barrel is DPMS pattern with the standard AR15 rifle gas port placement. the AR10 rail is probably 1/4" longer than the DPMS rail. I should have ordered the DPMS tube with an AR10 barrel nut and it would have been perfect. live and learn. Damn 308s.

Kinda seems like more of a personal preference thing there? Or at least dependant on the scopes eye relief. it shouldn't matter where the scope is as long as you are consistent. Make sure the Mount is pushed all the way forward into the blocks before you crank it down though.
