Sweet! Dadgummit! Looks like I'm gonna have to build something. Jon

Tased? By the look of that card he's gonna be caned! <laughs> Jon

I know it may sound that way but I'm all for LE having tools to do their job. It is the muckity-mucks that push to get dumb laws passed that I take issue with. I like how when Cali banned the .50BMGs for civilians, the main excuse was "We're protecting our citizens. These bullets (sic) can shoot through an armor plated limosuine." I feel safer already. Most folks can't afford the fun stuff and/or the ammo to feed it. We have a guy at our club that has a .50BMG but just the one. It is mighty and cool and mighty cool! Jon

My new love interest... an AR-10mm?

Well, with the same mag body in a 10mm, you should be able to blast a load of what, 25? Jon -
"Business as usual" with Freedom Group didn't fare to well for Marlin. Jon

Up at Sportsman's Warehouse. If you don't know where it is, exit off I-10 at Orange Grove, turn east, get into the left lane immediately and turn left on Thornydale, next light is Costco and turn left again. Follow it around past Home Depot and it is on the left. I left a whopping four boxes. <laughs> Should be restocked soon. Give me a ring, I'll treat you to a coffee. <thumbsup> Jon

Excellent unforgiven! I've only heard old timers claim to have rock salt loads. A guy I was in the Navy with had a rock salt story. Said he was riding his dirtbike, tearing up a farmer's land and the farmer started shooting towards him with a rifle. So he thinks to himself "I need to get close, so he can't hit my speedy bike with the rifle." When he got in close, the farmer put down the rifle and blasted him with a couple of loads of rock salt from his shotgun. Said he had to lay in the creek for a long time for the stinging to stop. <laughs> Personally, I believe a person is better off using what police in their area use, if you are going with less lethal. If it comes up in court, when they try to make you look like a pain-inflicting sadist, your lawyer can point out that it is the same issue as the local PD. Jon

Went and picked up some slugs and buckshot loads today. Federal, Remmy, and some of those Rio slugs. I've seen the Rio advertised in some of the catalogs but have had no experience with them. These are 1oz. slugs and on the box it says 1,440fps!!! That is over 100fps faster than the Remmy loads. Anyone tried these? Jon

What do you have on order or in the mail?

5,000 rounds of .22 Long Rifle and some ear plugs. Monday, a Witness .45acp with a threaded barrel and compensator. Jon -
All good points, Robo! It sounds like it is an arbitrary process to get the approval for the AW (Cali's definition...much of that is OTC here in AZ), meaning it isn't a "shall issue". I know that four years in AZ Corrections was plenty long enough to be seen as an enemy forever by those who were incarcerated. It has to be the same way on the street too. While cops get called when these whack jobs go overboard, their responsible neighbors (who deal with the whacks daily) should have the same resources. We have no constitutional right to police protection...that is all on us. By definition, police are first responders...first to respond after an incident. A whole lot of time and money could be saved if citizens were free to neutralize gumptardidity. Jon

That is irksome. Dingdongs on GB are infamous for that. Type in something like "Smith 357" and you get something listed like "Charter Arms .357 Magnum not colt smith ruger". Where the hell is Al Sharpton for the important stuff? Jon
-
I could disagree more but will limit myself. Those same crazy or just plain bad people are faced by everyone on the street, cops or general public. They should all have the same options for protecting themselves. While LE leadership in California feel they need to restrict access to certain types of guns and other weapons (their knife laws are ridiculous) that only LE should have, I'm glad there are manufacturers like Ronnie Barrett around to say otherwise. Unforgiven, while working corrections, we had "old-school" less lethal shotgun ammo-birdshot. Like the star rounds you posted the link to, we were trained to aim at the legs or do a skip-shot to the legs. Up close and personal, birdshot is lethal. That lethal distance isn't too far on humans, depending on choke...I'm sure we all know someone that got "peppered" while dove hunting. Look at Dick Cheney's incident...and that was pretty darn close. The heavier the individual pellets, the more it carries that energy downrange if you miss your intended target. That .32 caliber buckshot pellet may cause you problems in court, criminal and civil. As an instructor, one of my pet peeves is the whole "shotguns don't have to be aimed" myth. If you can afford to support the neighbor's kid with buckshot-reduced mental capacity and health issues for the rest of your (or the kid's) natural life, don't worry about aiming a shotgun. On the other end of the spectrum, slugs really let the shotgun's versatility shine through! Around here, home invasions aren't uncommon and are often on the wrong house. Invaders wear an assortment of items common to LE, body armor being one of them. Trauma plates don't really have much to say about a 1 1/4 ounce (546.9 grains of love) moving at 1300 fps. But, again, that energy can play against the person that owns a home made of drywall and stucco. A friend of mine that was on a small PD in one of the mining and farming communities here in AZ, had an incident one night. He attempted to remedy the situation with his shotgun at about 45 yards. With the issued buckshot (don't know the size/velocity), his direct hits had little effect. He carried high-velocity slugs after that, and practiced to 120 yards for accuracy. I may have to get this 930SPX tapped for chokes. Jon

Ran about 150 rounds through it this morning...ZERO hiccups! First mag out, shot out the center of the target at 10 yards...then ran the target to the next bay, to show a friend that sold her Glock 34 that was worthless. Her hubby wants one BAD. Then did a few transition drills at 25 yards. The steel says "Clang-clang-clangclang-bong-bong!" Jon

Went to the range and blasted a few boxes of light loads through the 930SPX. Didn't even think of taking a photo...dad gummit! Tried out the "ghost load" too. What seemed to be sure disaster on my Tri Star worked like a charm with the Mossy! Nine rounds of blammity can be comforting. Eight is nothing to sneeze at though. Ran a few transition drills, from handgun to shotgun. Feels good stretching out a bit! Looks like a need a case of buck and a case of slugs. Jon

I do what I can...what I can. Looks like my plans have changed. Probably due to one of the little whippersnappers doing an open-face broadcast sneeze, I'm coming down with a cold fast. Should be up plenty early now. All spaced out this afternoon, the girl comes home and I soon hear a plastic shopping bag rustling, so I look over and see her pull the present I got her today out of the bag. She looks at me, so I said "Merry Christmas. Now I don't have to wrap it." She disappeared, comes back in a few minutes with the tags cut off, wearing it. She looks at me straight faced and says "You should put it away next time." Jon
