So let me tell you a little story about 300 BLK

I agree, love reading your stuff! <thumbsup> -
Gun safety should start as soon as they are old enough to understand what it's all about. As Robocop and Shepp said, teaching them to shoot depends on their level of maturity and each kid is different. I started my son Josh at 7 with a Browning Buckmark 22 pistol and at the age of eight he started shooting a 1911, first with just one round in the gun and seated with his arms braced on his knees. After I was confident he could handle the recoil without dropping the gun we went to two rounds and then on from there. He shot his first practical pistol match with my 1911 at 10 years of age with standard loads (see the attached pic). Josh's youngest sibling was 14 when he was born so he grew up around fairly mature brothers and sisters as opposed to siblings more his own age so I'm sure this had an effect on his maturity. Like I said, each child is different. I'm sure that with the experience you've had with foster kids you are quite capable of determining when he is ready to start. Thanks for bringing these kids into your lives and making a difference! <thumbsup>

^^^^This! I figured the same thing, probably get a more unbiased view than any of the U.S. media puts out.

Disorderly Conduct and Careless Driving are the most vague and abused charges used bu LEO's! When I went to the academy an instructor warned us that careless driving was the most abused ordinance in the New Mexico Uniform Traffic Code and if continued to be abused we would eventually lose the use of it. In 20 years as a shift supervisor I taught my officers that at LEAST 9 out of 10 times they wrote a careless driving ticket I could find a specific statute that would cover the offense they wrote the Careless ticket for, and that using Careless driving was a good indication that they were too lazy to become familiar with the traffic code! That being said, I also regard Disorderly Conduct as a catch-all charge that is abused. As far as I'm concerned, the use of Disorderly Conduct to charge someone carrying a rifle in an open carry state is CHICKEN SCHIT! If any LEO's here take offense to what I just said then maybe you need to go back and read the Second Amendment and recall the oath you took when you pinned that badge on. If a person is disorderly that is one thing, but charging someone who is not being disorderly just because someone else complained about them exercising their constitutional rights is just plain wrong and as far as I'm concerned that officer has tarnished the badge. There are pros and cons to open carry but every law abiding citizen in an open carry state should have the right to weigh those for himself and NOT have to worry about some badge heavy cop with the attitude that he is THE LAW and has the last say determine if they can exercise a right guaranteed by the Constitution and their state laws.

I've lived in New Mexico for 35 years and it's been an open carry state all the time I've been here. Very few people take advantage of it though. I don't know if they are aware that it's legal or it's that most just don't want to open carry. I'm glad Mississipi has gotten on board! <thumbsup>

I've had issues with copying and pasting text here also but my issue may have more to do with my computer. I've found that when the 'paste' tab won't work if I hit the space bar once then for some reason it will then let me paste.

Well Kiltedcowboy, I gotta tell you, I raised 4 boys in just the manner you described. I have 3 I'm proud as hell of and one in the state prison! Why? His mother and I have never figured it out.
-
I saw the same picture and that is why I said I wasn't sure about the 3rd. one.
-
Okay, we got 3 black kids who beat the hell out of a white kid on a school bus, then we got 2 black kids (not sure about the 3rd one involved) who shoot a white guy in the back while he's out jogging and now we have two black guys beat a white senior citizen to death. I see a pattern here. Does anyone else think that maybe blacks are starting to retaliate over the Martin/Zimmerman thing?

AND premeditated murder!

I've had some alligator gumbo that was awesome! <thumbsup>

Josh says the same thing, it's like paradise. His only problem is the heat, actually the humidity. He's a desert rat and sweats a lot, even more so there. I don't think I've ever heard him complain about the rain though.

Sonofabitch this crap pisses me off! I hope these nappy headed pieces of schit roast in hell! And WTF? Obama says he's not familiar with the case? Why does that statement not surprise me in the least? I am so sick of Obama's hipocrasy and Holder is right up there with him in my book! I got news for you Mr. President, if you had had a son he probably would have looked like one of these turds!

My son Josh is the one on the right, closest to the camera. They are out on maneuvers in Okinawa and a typhoon is rolling in!

My sister used to buy those orange candy peanuts that are made out of marshmallow or something for my nephew, and I guess they are called 'circus peanuts'. One day while standing in the checkout line at the grocery store he started hollering that she didn't get him any 'circle penises'!

Post it, no problem here.
-
As for naming guns, I don't do it. Hell, I have enough of a problem remembering the grandkids' names!
-
Yup, shot that thing ONE time! I'm still bitching at my son for talking me in to it!

Everything has it's faults, there's no such thing as a maintenance free landscape other than just letting crap grow wild! I have the crushed rock and desert plants landscaping in my front yard and that stuff is more work than grass! I have to go out and pull weeds out of that stuff all the time and it's really bad during monsoon season. Yes, there is landscaping cloth under the rock, but just enough dirt blows in around the rock during our spring winds to support the weeds. You can't mow them because of the rocks, so you have to pull them by hand. You can spray them with a chemical of some sort to kill them, but then you have dead brown weeds in your rocks.
-
96 days? That happens quite a bit here. Right now it's our monsoon season and my grass looks great!

Yeah baby! <thumbsup>

It's my understanding that kevlar can break down over time and it's recommended that ballistic vests be changed out every 5 years. When I started the PD I bought my own Second Chance vest and replaced it several years later (about 8 years I believe) with a department issued vest. It was rated to stop a 44 mag when new. I took it out to the range a couple of years after getting the new one issued and shot it with a 158 gr. 357 mag HP. Bullet went all the way through the vest!

Man I hope it was minimal! Burns can be horrific! I know!

They said he had some bad burns. Do you have any idea how he's doing?
