    Heat!

I'm 30 miles from there so that's not a problem. The closest trailer park to me is about 1/2 mile away, but I think your theory has some merit Dirk!

    Heat!

Had a helluva rainstorm here last night! I went out about 11:00 PM and sat on the patio for about 30 minutes and just watched the rain and lightning! Night before last they had something called a 'micro-burst' down in Columbus that tore the roof off the old school house and damaged several mobile homes. Some were originally saying it was a tornado due to the damage, but being a Kansas native I didn't think so. Tornadoes are extremely rare in SW New Mexico. Fortunately no one was injured, seems a lot of the damaged mobile homes belong to people who actually live just across the border in Palomas Mex. and were unoccupied. They have them so they have a legitimate US address and can milk our govt. assistance programs!
  3. I have to give a thumbs up to Shaun and Liz Reynolds at D&M Sporting Goods here in Deming, NM. During all the stupidity they never raised their prices. When AR-15 mags were going for over $50 apiece I bought 3 from Shaun at $12 each. Right now he has AR-15 rifles on the rack for $800! Shaun and Liz have also chaired the local Friends of NRA Banquet for the last several years. Shaun's father was my FTO back when I started the PD here and D&M has always been a huge supporter of law enforcement. Just all around good people! <thumbsup>

  6. Dirk, another thing I've learned in all my years of gunsmithing is that taps DO wear out! When they start getting dull you're inviting disaster by continuing to use them. I'm not sure how hard aluminum is on a tap or how many times you used that particular tap so I'm not passing judgement on your actions, just stating what I've learned. When I built my son's STI 2011 I used a slide that already had the Bomar sight cut from the factory, but for some strange reason they don't tap the elevation screw hole! STI slides have a reputation for being some hard steel I found out later, AFTER I broke the tap off in the slide! The tap had been used maybe 5 or 6 times before, and yes, I was using oil. Fortunately my machinist friend in El Paso is also an excellent welder and after a phone call and an afternoon drive to El Paso the problem was solved. The guy literally welded up a nub on the very small part of the tap that was protruding and then just took a pair of pliers and turned the tap out! I ordered a new tap from Brownells and finished the job. I could definitely feel the difference between the old tap and the new one when I finished tapping that hole. BTW, cool solution you came up with! I definitely have to remember it in case I have a similar problem. Taps are evil! Just when you think things are going great they will mess your day up!

    Heat!

Yup, same here in New Mexico, mid 70's to mid 80's all this last week. Week before was triple digits. Weird!
  8. Coffee has never had that effect on me, which is good because I drink a LOT of coffee! V8 gives me gas something fierce though, and I love the stuff! But then again, at my age it seems like everything gives me gas. <lmao>
  9. ROLMAFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <laughs> <lmao> <laughs> <lmao> <laughs> <lmao>
  10. Guess he was affiliated with Seneca Armory, he hasn't posted a thing since your warning!
  11. Do you work for these guys or what? At least two thirds of your posts since you joined have sounded like commercials for Seneca Armory!
  12. Rob, my computer doesn't have a wireless modem so if I use my phone I have to hardwire it. Mine seems to at least maintain the charge level while doing so, so I assume the phone is getting enough power through the hardwire to keep from going dead.
  13. Thank you for doing that! <thumbsup>
  14. I've done this a few times with my Verizon phone when my Qwest service has been down. It worked pretty good. If you use the phone as a wireless hotspot you can set it up for a password as Rob said, but you also need to plug it into the charger, as it can drain the battery pretty quick.
  15. Thank God! Drugs are bad for you! Just sayin............... <lmao>
  16. I just sent Josh two Priority Mail boxes to Okinawa. I wonder which direction they went? :ugone2far: <dontknow>
  17. We're just going to watch the city fireworks. It's so dry around here I don't even want to mess with them myself. There's already a bigassed fire about 45 miles north of us (Silver Fire) that is just now being contained.
  18. You know Ron, we used to have a guy on the PD here that did stuff like that on his nights off. After they put him on medication he was okay (except for when he got off his meds!) <dontknow> <lmao>
  19. Great article! Thanks for taking the time to post it!
  20. Fanfuckingtastic! Job well done Captain!
  21. Cuff the motherfucker's hands behind his back and let the husband have at him with a nightstick until he runs out of steam! :bat:
  22. Good one Jon! For those who don't know him, this is my son Josh;
  23. I usually fix my own stuff. It all started with me being such a picky bastard that the only way stuff got done to my satisfaction was to do it myself. Now that I'm older it isn't so much that I'm picky, now it's more me being a cheap bastard! I have quit doing my own oil changes though. I don't get up off the ground very easily these days and trying to dispose of the old oil is a pain.
  24. Got it brother. Thanks!
