  1. Magwa, why subsonics, do you hunt at fairly short ranges in your neck of the woods? Just wondering the reasoning behind that choice, not that there is anything wrong with it. They do seem to work well on hogs.
  2. This board is probably the best source of information on building an AR 308 around. There are guys here that know more about this platform than anywhere else on the 'net. Start reading through some of the threads on builds and if you can't find an answer to what you're dealing with just ask, someone here will have the correct info for you.
  3. That guy is a helluva bagger jockey! I've got a buddy that's a motor officer on the El Paso PD that I've seen do some of that schit on his Tour-Glide!
  4. Sorry for your loss Ron. I had a buddy that was also a Vietnam vet and 12 years with DC Metropolitan Police before he couldn't take the B.S. any more and quit. He too hardly ever talked about Vietnam. He died of cancer that was almost certainly caused by agent orange. It does hurt to lose guys of that caliber!
  5. Yeah, but the solitaire games work really well! That's good to hear about the pee problem, sounds like the meds are working! ROFL!
  6. Why? Tom isn't one of those Armalite 'people'!
  7. Only from those Armalite 'people'! Everyone else just thinks it's funny! ROFLMAO!!!
  8. To start with, that's NOT a fukking shooting! A shooting involves discharging a firearm! Douchebag reporters, I swear! The incident as claimed by the victim could have happened but as others have said, the odds are extremely slim of something like that taking place. I think the victim isn't telling the whole story!
  9. Nice first impression write up! I'm looking forward to hearing more about how it performs when you get some glass on it.
  10. Rene, you need to upgrade from that Commodor 64!
  11. IMHO Colt's quality hasn't matched their prices for over 20 years. Kimber and Springfield have far surpassed them.
  12. That is a hell of a deal!
  13. In that price range I would go for the Springfield Range Officer.
  14. Good job Sketch! Now you know more about 1911's than a lot of others do.
  15. When I read your first post, I was going to suggest a 1-4 scope! For the caliber and ranges you're looking at I think it would be a great choice. Put that Vortex on there and see how it does.
  16. Beach, if you want to try something like that out on a budget take a look at Kinetitech's stuff; http://www.kineti-tech.com/create-a-2-piece-muzzle-brake-cucussion-sound-redirector/ I've got one of theirs on my 300 BLK pistol and it seems to work pretty good for that app.
  17. Tom I also agree with you when it comes to buying a full rifle, but I haven't bought a full AR type rifle in years. The last full rifle I got was the LR308 that my wife & Josh bought me. I like building my own too much and I don't mind spending money on good barrels and triggers but I can't see spending the difference between a lower receiver that says Noveske over what an Anderson receiver costs. Maybe after 10's of thousands of rounds the more expensive receiver will be in better shape, but realistically I'm never going to shoot 10's of thousands of rounds through any one rifle of mine.
  18. I have to agree with you Beach, I just can't reconcile paying extra for a name when another company's part while do the same thing with the same precision and the same durability.
  19. Nice grips!
  20. Thank you! It's a blast to shoot too! 300 Blackout.
  21. Okay brother, how many suppressed short barreled AR's do you have pics of wearing your slings? Huh? Huh? Just sayin!
  22. Another thing I forgot to mention is that I use a ball cutter in a dremel tool to bevel the holes for the plunger tube pins on the inside of the frame. It only takes just a little bevel and gives the pins something to swage into when you stake them. When the plunger tube gets loose it's usually because the staked pins had no place to flare into when they were staked and this solves that issue. I've actually removed plunger tubes that were loose and beveled the inside of the hole and reinstalled the same tube with the Loctite and restaking and had them work just fine after that.
  23. This is the tool for staking the grip bushings; http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/power-tools-accessories/drill-bits/grip-bushing-staker-sku080644000-696-2869.aspx?sku=080-644-000
  24. I use Mobil 1 on my guns. That being said, a guy just gave me 7 full, unused bottles of military issue Break Free CLP that he found dumpster diving behind the local Natl. Guard Armory. I figure some youngster was doing some cleaning and figured since the teflon had settled they were no good and threw them away!
