Don't know who Shakira is but that ass HAD my attention, then made me wish I hadn't looked. Some sort of subliminal feminist tool to get me to stop staring at asses.........

That is so wrong!

They have given me the confidence to buy their stuff in bulk now knowing they will back it up. The replacement ammo shot pretty damn good in several different weapons. It took a bit of prodding but Midway stepped up as well, still haven't shot the FGMM 185 juggernaut they sent as a replacement.

Welcome from Iowa!

I recently listened to a podcast with Ryan Cleckner, former Ranger and Sniper school instructor among many other things. He stated that cold bore/fouling shots being off target had more to do with a cold shooter than anything else. "A target to help you confirm “cold-bore” shift (or the lack thereof!)" https://ryancleckner.com/free-long-range-shooting-targets/ Curious what the cadre here think about this? I found it hard to accept having seen a shift on the first round pretty consistently. The cold shooter explanation wouldn't seem to explain it for me. Many times I have seen this shift even after shooting many rounds through another rifle directly before starting in with a fresh one. I would think that would make me a "warm" shooter. This target from todays range trip got me thinking about this. The first shot went way low while the next 19 stayed pretty consistent. I had already shot a couple hundred rounds from two other 5.56 rifles before picking up the Matrix so my trigger finger was plenty warm.

Second Zero Prism Lens, rapid zero change
jtallen83 replied to jtallen83's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
Yep, for under $50 the glass just can't be top end stuff, or I wouldn't think. Odds are there are no coatings either, they don't bragg on any. -
Looks being the operative term. My matrix looks like it and has the Armalite thread pattern on the upper but will not come close to fitting my ArmaLite lower. No combination of my Armalite and matrix will fit together.

I WISH! I would love to have a few claymores for the SHTF bag! Just a fancy plate sent from Israel, Mom liked it, she collects blue pottery like that.

Second Zero Prism Lens, rapid zero change
jtallen83 replied to jtallen83's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
They used a type of prism device, Charlie TARAC, to make that 5 mile shot recently but that device was calibrated for so many mils not a particular range. I would think this device could have a similar application but they don't give you the mils. I am pretty skeptical this device would hold up in the field, just looks too fragile. Here is a link on the Charlie TARAC prism, looks to be a much sturdier device; https://www.tacomhq.com/products-charlie-tarac.html -
Second Zero Prism Lens, rapid zero change
jtallen83 replied to jtallen83's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
There is an article in this month's G&A. No crosshairs or dot, just a prism lens that "does a very controlled bend of incoming light light to move the crosshairs a specified amount." They also state it was very successfully tested by SOF, both ours and other nations, so maybe it will hold up. I imagine there will be one in my future. -
bet you have never seen this one,

You have tried a genuine ArmaLite AR-10 mag catch and it does not work? we are not talking about the generic "AR-10" LPK's but genuine Armalite parts. These issues are the reason we harp on not using the term AR-10 if it is not an Armalite, people end up with issues and parts they cannot use. -

Simple answer, buy the Armalite part, install and forget. -

Saw this interesting prism lens for shifting your zero with the flick of a lever. They advertise models for many calibers and second zeros at 320 and 500 yards. MSRP of $60, street price under $50, so not a real high price just wonder how durable it is for that money. http://axeonoptics.com/2017/03/30/second-zero-opens-up-long-range-possibilities/ http://axeonoptics.com/second-zero/ for sale here; http://www.sanborngunshop.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=83_107_542

I gather from the somewhat vague description the barrel is a Lothar Walther blank chambered by Gorilla Mfg., heard plenty on Lothar, never heard of Gorilla Mfg?

You call that snow? Looks like a heavy frost to me Nothing better for tracking than a fresh morning snow, our deer up north have no choice but to carry on with daily routine, they'd starve otherwise!

I am patiently waiting for these to hit the gun pushers shelves. Thinking it may be a good replacement for my 716 pistol.

That is a big plus in my book as well. I think it is just as good or better a trigger as the SSA, SSA-E is a bit more precise for me but then that's a different application. Considering the wide variety of people that shoot my rifles the MBT is the best 2 stage for the money in my book. -

Looks like it could be a first generation Armalite AR-10 magazine. Gen two fixed some feeding issues and is said to be superior, I have never used a first gen myself. http://www.armslist.com/posts/2727489/coeur-d-alene-magazines-for-sale--armalite-ar-10-gen-1-preban-20-round-magazine Left, first gen, middle, cheap wannabe Armalite, right gen II, all have flat bases, even my 25 rounders.

^^^^^^^^^Amen. Not a big fan of the 45 degree stuff though, too much hanging of the rifle getting caught on schit for me. I really like the Bobro low profile set, you hardly know they are there and they are very well made.
