  1. Wonder why they fixed one typo and not the other? Either way once the preeminent Ballistician of our day starts recommending a 1:8 for short barrel 308's you can bet there will be some on the market soon.
  2. I caught a podcast today with an interview of Bryan Litz of Applied Ballistics and Berger Bullets. After hearing this and seeing that the new ArmaLite site still lists the 13.5 inch barrel at 1:8 twist I don't think it is a typo. Bryan stated that because of the loss in velocity of the shorter barrel a faster twist is needed to stabilize projectiles when they go transonic. It confused me a bit because transonic is transonic, might happen at a different range but the same thing happens? He had a lot of ballistic mumbo jumbo about the physics of it but I would tend to just accept his word. He did say that there would be little to no difference before the bullet hits transonic. https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10-308-13-5-target-barrel/ http://www.precisionriflemedia.com/podcast/2016/4/28/prm-005-bryan-litz
  3. Congratulations, sounds like you raised a fine young lady! Always feels good when the youngsters excel, you'll soon forget how much school costs you
  4. Excellent reporting! Nice to get this firsthand information.
  5. So you ordered a set? Expecting a review soon.....
  6. Now it's just a matter of putting rounds down range. I'm betting you'll rapidly shrink those not too bad groups to a steady 1 MOA. Good work
  7. I will have to defer to those that have PSA rifles. With no set spec it can vary from rifle to rifle what works and what doesn't.
  8. SLR is a solid time tested block, positive adjustment, no coil type spring to fail, and great customer service. Superlative is a dual function block. One end of the adjustment is a restrictive type and the other way bleeds off gas to reduce pressure. I found the bleed off inadequate for the gas volume of 308. Do a search here for a thread with more details. Never used a jp so can't really say, I think it uses a coil spring and ball detent if I remember correctly.
  9. 10. Welcome from Iowa, enjoy the shoot, I'm jealous of y'all!
  11. I had that security guard video posted here but that link died, YouTube is getting pretty blatant with their selective editing lately.
  12. I heard them discussing why more regulations are needed for rental cars on Fox News. These idiots just don't get it!
  13. Click on the Brownells link near the top of the page, they should have all the options you need. They also have a chat feature so you can ask questions if compatibility isn't clear in the description.
  14. Not a color I would choose but hey, there is always FDE Cerakote! https://aeroprecisionusa.com/m5e1-anodized-red-builder-set.html?sc_src=email_2413796&sc_lid=137359739&sc_uid=x3DcFAL1Zp&sc_llid=62798&utm_source=Emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=November+Builder+Set+-+Anodized+Red+Cerakote2017-11-01+21%3A31%3A00&sc_eh=5531ebedbcffb26a1
  15. We need to get rid of the progressive, politically minded judges that keep blocking any actions that would limit or eliminate these immigration loopholes as well.
  16. Navy command in the South Pacific has had lots of corruption problems come to light in the last few years, sure hope that isn't the tack this story takes.
  17. All this time and still no clear facts besides people died;
  18. https://www.armalite.com/product-category/complete-firearms/eagle-arms/ They don't seem to have any AR-10 related products anymore.

Never heard of these gadgets but looks like this is how these extreme range shots are being pulled off; https://www.tacomhq.com/products-charlie-tarac.html and adjustable scope rings; http://iveyshooting.com/index.php?id_product=16&controller=product Just these two items come in at over $2,000!
  22. Ok, a highly modified Armalite AR-30. I'm a little bummed as I have been watching for a used AR-30 or 31 in anticipation of having the funds by spring, no doubt this will add to the price a bit. https://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/americans-set-new-long-range-world-record-5000-yards-2-84-miles/?utm_source=email&utm_medium=20171027_FridayDigest_145&utm_campaign=/blog/americans-set-new-long-range-world-record-5000-yards-2-84-miles/
