  1. ^+1, very nice trigger and you get a box of swag with it.
  2. The infamous Breast guy better change your measurements to grams man
  3. Hope that next one doesn't head your way, looking like a rough hurricane season for sure.
  4. Glad to hear from you, when you weren't posting your usual early morning I figured something was up. Since the water didn't get you I bet you actually have flood insurance!
  5. Always check headspace, even more important on these large frame AR's due to the lack of standardized specs. I routinely check headspace whenever I have a bolt broken down, things do wear out, I have never wore a bolt or extension out myself but I try!
  6. Welcome from Iowa, via Virginia!
  7. I haven't used that stock but did have their adjustable Viper, piece of crap! Wobbly, loose pin fit, and the plastic was slick. Their grip was junk as well, took a bunch of grinding and filing to even get it close to fitting. I love their dust covers and have had good luck with their upper and lower parts but I avoid their furniture.
  8. For return to zero QD mounts I have had good luck with ADM. The Burris QD mount didn't work well for me, tried two, they shot loose randomly. Recently bought a set of Bobro BUIS, I really like using them and they are very thin, hardly notice them when folded down. lots of info on these topics here; https://forum.308ar.com/forum/21-optics-amp-mounts-buissights/
  9. Wonder what we'll get from this crisis, all "republican" controlled government.............
  10. Welcome from Iowa!
  11. 3 O'clock is fine on it's own. Weak ejection could be an under gassed issue, check for gas leaks. Could be a weak ejector spring. With just 200 rounds it could also still be breaking in, check for any unusual wear in the upper receiver, BCG, and where the BCG enters the extension. These large frame AR's like lots of lube during break in so don't be afraid to get messy.
  12. Yes, they consistently return to the same POI each time they are put back on. Ran them on a 300 BO some in between their turn on the Matrix so they went on both warm and cold, showed no difference. When checking them with the suppressor alignment gauge they line up just a little different from each other, within the limits but off center a little in different directions. I'm thinking this must have something to do with the POI difference. The 51T adapters seem to place the suppressor in the same orientation no matter how you orient the suppressor when starting it. I'm hoping I will end up with groups as tight with the suppressors as without but this may not work out, I guess I will have to settle for good consistency.
  13. I have two SDN-6's, a black and an FDE. While swapping them around to avoid a mirage I made a few observations. I didn't see much of a shift while running a Bushnell 1-6.5 but the new Bushnell 4.5-30 XRS showed me a bigger difference, I believe this relates to being more precise with the XRS and slowing down my pace while shooting these groups. First two pictures, 100 yards, FGMM 175gr. 7.62x51 version. Zeroed the scope for this load running the black SDN-6, first group suppressed ( high flyer was all me), second no suppressor; Next three pictures are 100 yards, FGMM 168 gr. and yes I did shoot some three round groups, the schit is expensive! First is with the black supressor, second is the FDE version, and third is no suppressor; I shot this pattern for two rounds cooling the rifle and suppressors in between and got consistent results. Surprised me to see there is even a POI shift between the two SDN-6's. This negates my plan for these suppressors to be interchangable, no way will I be keeping two separate sets of dope to accommodate this difference! All targets have a 1 inch grid pattern.
  14. Much better range trip this morning, not sure what my problem was last night but had much more consistent results this morning. No measureable POI change after remounting the scope for Aadmount! Slowed down my pace a bit and had much better luck getting my eyes to focus with the scope, also made a big difference on the mirage. I will have to invest in one of the Black Hills Mirage Abatement Device (MAD) so I can get back to my normal pace;http://blackhillsgear.com/store.html#!/Suppressor-Silencer-High-Temp-NOMEX-MAD-Wrap/p/85499571/category=0 The TacOps Handle stayed put so the BCM latch may be getting wore out or it is just the loose fit in this rifle. No time this trip to do a good tracking test, too lazy to make my own so I ordered 25 of these, should last me a good while;https://shop.actiontarget.com/content/jdsver-1-jericho-defense-scope-verification-target.asp Here are two targets at 100 yards, with and without suppressor FGMM 175gr 7.62x51 version, first one with my black SDN-6, second one without a suppressor; I will follow up with more pictures and observations related to POI shift and using a suppressor in the Class III section.
  15. Give HBN a try for coating if you do your own, the T site has some very detailed instructions and explains the benefits of HBN vs. Moly. If I understand correctly the moly has a tendency to draw or trap moisture on the bore surface, hence the need to clean it, HBN does not need to be cleaned. I use a HBN treatment during break in, makes cleaning much easier, mix a little HBN with alcohol and run a patch soaked in it just before shooting the next round. You can get the HBN on that auction site pretty cheap, a little goes a long way, and be careful with it, once spilled the location will be forever slick!
  16. That's how Eugene Stoner designed it.
  17. Very nice, been looking at that same barrel/BCG combo for my next build. Just put a Fulton build together for my Brother-in-Law, 18 inch rifle gas Criterion barrel, noticed the gas tube they sold goes deep but this one didn't bottom out. Everything from Fulton was a nice tight fit, how snug was your extension/receiver fit?
  18. I notice most the precision crowd that use suppressors have a cover on them to mitigate mirage. I tried one of the slip on silicone versions but it added so much weight and size plus kept the suppressor hot for a good bit longer making it a long wait before I could take it off at the range, it resides in a drawer now. I'm going to try and hit the range early tomorrow morning to take advantage of the 55 degree temps, that and slow down a bit, hard for me to do though, I need about a five weapon rotation going to give anything time to cool
  19. Welcome from Iowa!
  20. Had to edit the POI shift with the suppressor info, The shift given was after putting my second SDN-6 on after making adjustments with a couple groups using no suppressor. Swapping them out helped minimize the mirage issue but didn't eliminate it. My usual send it fast as I can get on target pace just isn't going to cut it with this optic and a suppressor. Swapped the BCM CH for a TacOps, maybe just a little movement on the BCM when latched while the TacOps is solid. I'm going to have a broken nose if the TacOps whacks me! No unusual marks inside the Matrix, receiver or the BCG. Headspace checks out fine, nothing loose. Nothing bad on the brass, actually lighter ejector swipes on both brands of brass than I am used to seeing which doesn't make much sense. Looking like shooter error, just need a longer get to know you period for that heavy duty scope I guess. Next trip out I may drag the lead sled along and see if I can remove some of the human error factor. Should get a read on the return to zero capability having taken the mount off the rifle and reinstalled per the manufacturer's directions. Once the corn is out this fall I will be able to stretch it out a good bit. For now......need more ammo!
  21. Mounted and boresighted the scope. Very impressed with the Aadmount, leveling the crosshair was a snap with the built in level. The tritium makes a world of difference picking up the tiny vial and all my checks show it to be very precise, maybe sensitive to the point of irritation at times. Very easy to get just the right amount of pressure when adjusting the scope so it moves smoothly and evenly when getting it leveled, no doubt due to the very precise machining of the rings. I was going to take a few pictures but Aadland Engineering has such a nice spread figured I would just post the link; http://www.aadmount.com/30mm/index.html The first trip to the range ended up a WTF trip. Got near the bullseye with 5 rounds but the mirage off the suppressor was a surprise at 20x, forget the 30x, didn't seem to matter much with the 1-6.5 I had been running. Four inches low and two inches right when I took it back on. Groups started getting real shabby on me, 1.5 moa that I was used to with this rifle but only when I loaded one round at a time, second and third shots from the mag would be a couple inches any old direction they chose from the first round. Shooting PMC 150 gr. and FGMM 168's, no appreciable difference. Another irritant was the charging handle randomly hitting me in the nose. Something is up with this rifle, Matrix build, wish I had the AR-10 available but it is half apart waiting for parts to add a free float tube, 51T FH, and an adjustable gas block so it will be suppressor ready. Off to the basement and a diagnostic session with the Matrix......... Almost forgot, what I could tell of the scope I like, clear glass, positive adjustments, using the FFP mil reticle for making adjustments worked great. Looking forward to getting a rifle sorted out and putting it to use at some longer ranges. Negatives, parallax says it goes down to 75 yards but for me the 75 yard setting was barely on for the 100 yard line, short of that is not the domain of this scope. Another factor for my eyes is the higher magnification seems to mess with my vision after 15-20 minutes straight use, gets a blur that doesn't go away for a half hour or so.
  22. Soap, Grandpa used Tide and gasoline when I was a kid, late 60's early 70's. I'm not sure what it was in the soap that actually gave it a thicker consistency when mixed.
  23. A BCM keymod socket for a QD swivel.
  24. That isn't a bad group for 250 in the wind. Keep shooting, it will get better as you get to know your rifle.
  25. I'm finding the cans are the cheaper part of the equation, just realized I have burned up 1,000 rounds in the 226 since getting the Ti-Rant. My 5.56 stash is down an ammo can full since getting home 6 days ago, don't even want to think about the 308 I've shot up and over 800 rounds of 300 BO. To be fair I would have shot a good bit of this suppressor or not but my ammo bill has taken a big jump for sure!
