  1. Sawman says;
  2. and Bill keeps digging;
  3. I regularly carry pelican cases and ammo cans into hotels, never been hassled once about it. Wonder how much more will change on the facts given so far. That FBI guy behind the Sheriff during the press conference creeps me out, he had reptile alien eyes! Where did I put my tinfoil........
  4. Nothing obvious that I can see. Gas port is fairly easy to see being a 16 inch rifle gas and from the muzzle it looks good. Odds are it is just me
  5. Last day of an 18 day R&R so I'm a little depressed about heading to work tomorrow, but hey, how many guys get to work where others go on vacation then take off weeks at a time? I'll get over the depression
  6. Just what I've read, doesn't turn me on, barrel burner, expensive ammo, long action. maybe with military acceptance the ammo will be cheaper but then that never happen for the 338 Lapua. I think if I were going for something in that ballpark I would just stick with the 300 win mag but again those overbore cartridges just don't do much for me, I'll skip a few notches and go with 50 BMG.
  7. It can be loaded a little hotter than the 6.5 with the same high BC bullets, downside is lack of factory loads but then I won't get there till I have time to reload anyway.
  8. Not enough draw to get me off my caliber inventory, good match 308 is so much cheaper. Maybe when I have time to reload I'll delve into other calibers......that 260 from LaRue has had me day dreaming on several occasions.
  9. Can't buy a Ruger, swore I'd never give them a dime, but then they didn't have a precision rifle then......... Might try to get a deal on an AR31 with a 24 inch barrel since I already have a pile of mags that work for it.
  10. Need to take a closer look, local gun pusher has a set, I avoided picking it up knowing how hard it is to put stuff back on the shelf........
  11. What do you have going on with the gas tube as it enters the receiver? Never seen anything like that, something to dissipate heat?
  12. No borescope available without a healthy charge. I'd think any burr from drilling would be shot away by now, sure looks nice and shiny with naked eye and a flashlight. Could also be I just don't shoot well This makes me want to get some sort of precision bolt gun.
  13. Amen Brother! NOT ONE MORE INCH, the NFA is unconstitutional and must be repealed!
  14. I still think there is some sort of heat issue with the barrel. Spent the morning shooting 5 round groups and waiting for everything to cool off, somewhat. First shot is an inch or so low from the zero but the following shots always head higher to the zero point and a little above. The shots mostly string verticle, a couple groups followed the centerline exactly. If I limited the cool off time a bit the group would be tighter, in the 1 MOA and under range, but by the 4th and 5th shot on those groups the mirage was starting to interfere. If I was lucky and caught a breeze then it didn't bother me as much and the group would be on the better side. At 30x this scope is twice as powerful as anything else I have shot so I have some adjusting to do there. Anxious to see what I can do when I have a wrap for the suppressor and can keep shooting once it has heated up.
  15. Of the half dozen plus times I have had weapons shipped back from Sig I have only signed a couple times. They usually just leave it sit on the doorstep. Sig has been terrible about notifying me when they ship.
  16. I'd be curious how many calls the ATF got from this video, you know somebody took the bait
  17. Interesting to watch how the Still report gets past the bots that have been demonetizing you tube videos related to the shooting along with skewing search results.
  18. I tried a Manta silicone cover but found it very heavy and near impossible to remove, have you tried to remove that one? Think I'm going to look into Black Hills wrap next.
  19. Nice build! Any thoughts on the suppressor cover yet?
  20. Best to get upper and lower of the same brand. PSA parts compatibility has given more than a few fits. There is a sub section for PSA, I would start there and then use the search function for other compatibility threads.
  21. I had used a type of Audette ladder system, no chrono so I just went by the nodes that showed on the target; http://2poqx8tjzgi65olp24je4x4n.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/excerpt-on-creighton-audettes-20-round-string-load-development.pdf I recently ran across this info, if I ever get back to reloading I will give it a go; http://optimalchargeweight.embarqspace.com/ocw-vs-ladder/4529811360
  22. Welcome from Iowa!
  23. Wouldn't want any facts to interfere with the emotional outrage propaganda campaign. Wonder if the guy with a stick got a "strike"?
  24. Used to bring dad's bird dogs all the time, part of training them to ignore the gunfire. That said we never put them front and center like that with rifles.
  25. They have the lapping tool for both 308 AR and AR 15; http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/625-ar-tools I'm heading out now to sling some more lead and see if yesterday's results will hold up. edit: Damn rain and wind shut me down for a fair test session, had to be content with slinging a couple boxes of 300BO and packing up
