  1. Have you checked the scale against a known weight to calibrate it?
  2. I bought one from ADM. http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/106/ Caught it on sale a good bit cheaper though.
  3. Guns have always been an integral part of the holiday for me, it's a family tradition! Primary Arms added a part II sale; https://www.primaryarms.com/Sale_s/5169.htm?utm_source=bronto&utm_medium=email&utm_content=BANNER_1&utm_campaign=15-05-Ad5_Memorial_Day_Part_2
  4. Midway; http://www.midwayusa.com/find?promotionid=1078745
  5. Witness marks will be they way to go for me then, for sure on the PM400 now that I realize how it is put together.
  6. Just checked my PM400, no castle nut on that buffer tube? I guess that's why I didn't notice. Maybe I should stake the ones on the home builds, but then I've never had one come loose....yet.
  7. Just noticed that Sig stakes the castle nut to the rear cover plate, guess they don't want it coming loose but then it would be a pain to swap tubes like this. I've never noticed this before, is it common now days or is this a Sig thing?
  8. I was surprised how much carbon came of the BCG from just Sigs test fire. <dontknow> I hope it stays clean, all those deep relief cuts make it a pain, not just a simple wipe down. I'm one of those people that will never be accused of over-cleaning a rifle, never experienced a carbon induced failure and I push it. I hate breaking in new barrels................
  9. Yep, with lots of restrictions, no rifle caliber handguns being one of them..........no rifles, no feeding, no dogs, and on and on it goes. Every year people get whacked with 12 gauge slugs but they can't connect the dots. Hundreds of people pushing through the woods while others take snap shots at the running deer. They claim it isn't ethical to use dogs but then it seems fine that people get shot...... It's not ethical to use a rifle or put out food so you can get a precise shot but tracking a gut shot deer for a mile is perfectly fine.....very obvious the people making the rules are not experienced hunters......
  10. Here is the piston; One other difference from my AR-10 is the use of a flat wire buffer spring, not sure if that is bad or good? ??? Makes it a PITA to remove ........
  11. Got her cleaned up and took some pictures while things were apart. Here is the BCG; I noticed some differences with the pictures in the Sig manual. First there is no spring on the firing pin like my AR-10. Second was the lack of a plug and O-ring on the extractor, again like my AR-10 as well as shown and described in the owners manual. I'd be curious to hear from other 716 owners if they have these or is it something that got dropped on all 716's or just from the pistol model? ????
  12. No SBR's allowed in Iowa, they have been pimping us with suppressor bills that die but not even a mention of SBR's. I'll keep it as short as I can, if they renig on the brace thing then I guess they will have to come and take.......... Right now it feels like it fits just right, good to know there are options out there if I decide it doesn't.
  13. She is a svelte 8.6 ponds, naked......... I'll get some pictures of the piston system as well as the bolt then, Sig calls it a short stroke system. You'll have to tell me what system it's like, I haven't seen the AA or the HK in person, I'm gonna strip her down and lube her up first thing in the morning, maybe I should pick a name before we get that personal but then waiting to see how she shoots could have some bearing there, hope she doesn't mind if the first one is quickie....with pictures! B)
  14. What would I gain from the KAK upgrade? From the look of the shockwave I'd be loosing some surface area at the back of the brace, last thing I want is a blade digging in to my shoulder.....just in case I fell on the thing or something, of course I'd never fire the weapon from my shoulder......... B)
  15. I'll make sure and post more pictures, I actually haven't even popped a pin yet, busy reading the instructions.......I know, I just lost my man card <dontknow>
  16. This "Pistol" followed me home from a gun show today; Yep, it's a pistol! I've been so happy with my PM400 I decided to step it up a notch or so. I've been pestering all the local dealers for a price on the new ArmaLite pistols but couldn't even get a possible date when they would have a firm price let alone actually get one so I decided to try a piston gun. My first impression is that I'm impressed. The fit and finish is great for an AR rifle. The Phase 5 buffer tube is different than my PM400 and a welcome addition. The spacer puts the "brace" in exactly the right position for me. Coincidentally the LOP needed to fit my arm is the same for my shoulder, ::) not that I would ever fire the weapon from my shoulder and risk creating an instant SBR :strokin: :hornet: The ambi safety and mag release are a big plus as well. The biggest downside I see so far is the VERY crappy trigger, designed by a lawyer for sure with what feels like a 10 pound pull. It has major creep and is extremely gritty all the way through. A Geiselle trigger will be the first upgrade for sure! Looks like the suppressor bill will be left to die in the Iowa senate this year  :yup: but if they ever do get it passed the 4 position gas block will allow for some real quiet shooting. With a heavy schedule this weekend I won't get a chance to wring it out till the holiday so I'll report back then on what I find, I'm thinking they will be thrilled to have it at our new indoor range >:D
  17. Hope the toe can hang out with you a while longer, never know when you'll need to put your foot up someone's a$$! My dad is dealing with a the does of agent orange he got while in Vietnam. Three bouts with two types of cancer and the same loss of feeling in his feet and lower legs. When he doesn't use the VA docs he seems to get better.............. Now we trust the same company when they tell us there are no issues with GMO foods.........
  18. One of the worst beatings I've ever taken was in riding in the back of a track running full bore cross country....wanted to kick that drivers a$$.
  19. 98 pretty much hit all the points. The only thing I would add would be to yell in a loud authoritative voice, " Who the Fuk is next?" I've used this in a couple lopsided bar brawls, after you make the blood flow on one and make it clear you are ready to do it again most often the others will back away, if they don't then you better show you mean it. This might not play well in a later court hearing but then as they say, I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
  20. I'm confident things will be cleaned up properly with Ron Mower on the case, very straight shooter, both literally and figuratively. The Iowa DCI is a VERY independent agency unlike the state patrol, I've never heard of any political leanings at DCI. The details in the article do have a fishy smell, somebody will get Mower'd.
  21. Someone stuffed the pedestal mount in our jeep full of coke when it traveled back from Panama. Never did figure out how they found it.... or who did it............very little was said <dontknow>
  22. :eek7: He used the N word....... This will just add to the push for a national police force, who else could get this mess straight <laughs> The revolving door legal system wouldn't have anything to do with frustrated LEO's would it <dontknow> add that to a total lack of support from leadership and I bet they line up for miles to apply for a Baltimore PD job..............
  23. The first real AR-10 on the list of "AR-10's" is on page 5................... far from "comprehensive".
  24. The new regulations for 2015 have already been written and published, this "final action" is just a commission that rubber stamps them. This is a done deal already. Just another cut of the thousands.....
  25. Better stock up on Lube! :yup: As usual they would rather "make a deal" :bj: than actually fight for our rights, easier to fund-raise when you have a phony deal in the headlines. Who the Hell do they think they are negotiating away any type of ammo :wtf: ..........Time to get some letters off to my reps......again. Sounds like we better be ready for another run on ammo, they should all be beat :909: HEY NRA :gtfo2:
