  1. Once you see the hookers here in Iowa you may just change your mind, at least stick with a :strokin:
  2. As King Leonidas said "Come Take"! I honestly wish they would try it soon so we could get this bull$hit over with, our grandkids shouldn't have to deal with this mess........
  3. I'd still feel naked without a chute or a rope.............
  4. One of the best scope evaluation series around, hours of reading if you study the whole thing <thumbsup> The only place I've ever seen a Sheperd scope is the pages of Shotgun News..............
  5. I carried a Gerber Covert FAST knife every day for 4+ years. The coating kept the blade looking new and the edge held up the whole time. The scales started to get a little play in them so I sent it in, they mailed me a new one, just cost me the $3 shipping. There is a big difference between the Chinese stuff and the Made in USA stuff, don't write them off if you have a budget.
  6. Bought a new set of shooting bags last night. My father-in-law blew my front bag up on Memorial day, still haven't figured that one out? ????
  7. I heard some good things on this ammo so I ordered 500 rounds for my P716 from Mass Ammo; https://massammo.com/massammo.com/lake-city-7-62x51-mk319/ It showed up Monday afternoon so when I get home this weekend I'll give it a good run in both the 716 and my 20 inch AR-10. Couldn't believe after all this time nobody invoked the rule :wtf: so I called myself on it :whip2: ....is it that obvious I don't need enablers? ????
  8. I'm sticking with ArmaLites advice, NO ABRASIVES; http://www.armalite.com/images/Tech%20Notes/2015/Tech%20Note%2028,%20Breaking%20in%20Match%20Barrels,%20030205.pdf
  9. I like about 200 lumens for rifles, 100 is fine for a pistol. I find more does mess with my vision at times if inside but most the time I'm poking around in the woods and pasture. I'm a Surefire snob but own a Streamlight TLR-1 and like it just don't have the same confidence level with it. I like the Surefires because I can buy them used on ebay fairly cheap and not worry about any issues, snow, rain, below zero and 110 they just kick a$$.
  10. For the price I shouldn't complain, they basically threw in a scope with the mount. I may be able to adjust to the tiny eye box but I like to let the rounds fly at a brisk pace so having to be sooooo precise with the cheek weld is a downer for me.
  11. ^ Yep, I like to feel it seat so I can ditch anything that is even remotely loose.
  12. Someone forgot to tell the guys at Guns and Ammo TV about the latest ATF letter dealing with the Sig brace. I watched the show last night and they were firing the PM400 with brace from the shoulder and expounding on the virtues of such a short package. They either didn't get the memo <dontknow> , don't care <thumbsup> , or possibly have that particular PM400 registered as a SBR.
  13. Thought I should have added the links to the products so here they are, scope first; https://www.primaryarms.com/urlrewrite.asp?404;https://www.primaryarms.com:443/Primary_Arms_4_16X44_Illuminated_Mil_Dot_Scope_p/pa416x.htm and the mount; http://www.americandefensemanufacturing.com/view/product/790/ Just tried to set the turrets back to zero.......not exactly. The splines that the turrets fit on only line up with every other mark so I'm off by a hash mark on both elevation and windage...of course.
  14. I finally got around to mounting the Primary Arms 4x16 illuminated mil dot scope and ADM 20 MOA mount on my AR10. Primary Arms had this combo listed on their ebay site as an already mounted pair for under $190. I've been wanting a good ADM mount and the 20 MOA fit what I had been thinking about so I grabbed the set. I quickly realized that this set had never been used, must have been for a display. The screws were just finger tight on the rings and the crosshairs were far from level. In less than 10 minutes I had the crosshairs level, the provided thread locker applied, and the rings torqued down. The finish on the scope looks good but the lens caps don't look like they will last long, very cheap in appearance. The glass is decent, not there with my Bushnell Elites but plenty good for the money. Adjustment clicks are a bit soft but easily felt if not heard. I still need to remove the screw and reset the turrets to zero so I can't say how that will go yet. I didn't take the time to do a real accurate tracking test but a quick box on the 12 inch targets I had showed it to be adequate. My accuracy suffers when using the horribly designed shooting positions at the local range so any complaints could relate to that. The biggest issue I have with the scope is the small and sensitive eye box. Even with the parallax set correctly the slightest change of position moves the crosshairs an inch or better on the target. Neither of my Bushnell Elites even come close to this drastic movement, not sure how or why this is but it is. With more familiarity on the scope this should become less of an issue but at this point I don't see this scope deserving a spot on my ArmaLite. Even with the difficulty I was having putting out decent groups I decided to give the ADM mount a re-zero test. I shot ten rounds, Fiocchi Exacta 175 gr match, taking the mount off and putting it back between each shot; The first 5 stayed nice and tight but then I started getting spasms in my back from the awkward position so things widened out a bit. I'm pretty confident the mount will do its part if I can. I'm thinking I'll sell the scope while it is shiny like new and the covers are in one piece then put that money towards another good quality scope for the mount.
  15. So very true!
  16. My just turned 14 year old Granddaughter did this with my new P716. 30 rounds, iron sights, at 50 yards. Short of pistols this was her first experience shooting iron sights( she has near 500 rounds under the the belt with my AR-10 so not her first 7.62 outing). She also went 50 for 50 on the 100 yard dueling tree with my Armalite 5.56 build, beat me and 3 other 40+ year shooters. Add this to a straight A 8th grade report card she nailed down for the year and I am one PROUD grandpa! B)
  17. That is just a CYA letter by the ATF. If they were serious then they would be out busting people on you tube videos. They won't do it because they know they will loose the fight........like they have the power to change the definition of words <lmao>
  18. In memory of Tom McShannon who died fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was my Grandfathers best friend. I never met the man but through my Grandfathers visits to his grave I learned most of what I know about honor and service.
  19. Made it back to the range late this afternoon with dad and my Granddaughter. Another 120 rounds, 50 Pakistani surplus, 50 1975 headstamped Indian surplus, and another 20 ZQ1. My Granddaughter had a couple double feeds at first but once I got her to lean in hard and hold it tight, she might be 75 pounds when wet, the issues stopped. My biggest concern is the large quantity of brass shavings I'm seeing, this will eventually gum something up..........
  20. THIS THING IS A BLAST! :hethan: Got 60 rounds down the pipe for break-in today, the first thirty were shoot one and clean. It does have either a chrome lining or melonite but Sig doesn't seem to know which one so I thought I'd clean the copper out of the first bunch just to be safe, can't go backwards later. Last 30 rounds are the target shown, iron sights at 50 yards with the last 5 of those being as fast as I could reasonably get the sight picture back, a good brake would help speed this up for sure.I cleaned every 5 rounds for the last 30. She is a loud one but as far as recoil goes I didn't notice much difference from my AR-10, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about when it comes to short 308's. Maybe I just don't notice recoil due to all the nerve damage from a broken neck? ??? I'd say if you think these are excessive on recoil then you better just stick with a .22. Our local range has built 10 foot tunnels for firing positions so you are surrounded by muzzle blast; That is 3/8 inch steel plate for a roof, safety first, hearing....maybe later. The trigger actually started to smooth out a little, it still has a long way to go to be close to satisfactory though. As far as not cleaning the bolt goes that is fantasy world. There is so much brass smeared everywhere on the bolt face, lugs, and around the chamber you'd swear it just went a thousand rounds! I'm hoping this will lessen as the round count builds. Carbon wise it is pretty clean. No reloading for this brass. Big gouges from the feedramps and then the ejection is so strong that most of the mouths were severely dented from banging into the wall. A chunk of grip tape on the deflector seems to have mitigated any case shoulder denting. I did induce one malfunction, I set the gas to the suppressor setting just to see what it would do, bolt stopped about an inch back. No problem though, just yanked the charging handle and reset the gas block, back in action! Now to get the scope mounted, get those MK319 rounds in, and then stretch it out! Damn I hope Iowa passes that suppressor law soon......
  21. Ordered 500 rounds of MK319 for my P716. I know it functions in a 16 incher so with the adjustable gas block on the Sig I felt comfortable getting a good supply. Not a bad price either at 66 cents a round plus 2 ammo cans. https://massammo.com/massammo.com/lake-city-7-62x51-mk319-130gr-sost-otm-250-round-ammo-can-free-shipping-when-you-300-00-or-more/
  22. If the wife hadn't bought it for as a Christmas gift I'd never have an Atlas.........that said I wouldn't sell it now that I've used it. The QD addition was needed so I could easily use it on all my rifles....still need to gather up a Harris though.
  23. My Atlas has two screws that attached to a rail instead of a stud like a Harris. You can actually take the rail section off the ADM and put the lever section directly on the Atlas to substitute for the two screw setup. I've never seen one in hand but that appears to be how the Atlas factory QD setup is made. ADM makes some good $hit!
  24. I understand the solemness of the occasion but does anyone really think the honored fallen would want us to spend the day mourning and not celebrate the freedoms they gave their lives to defend????
