How sure are we that all the facts are out? Many allies don't seem as eager to state facts yet. Saudi false flag? Necon false flag? Incentive for the saudi's to buy more better stuff? For all the proclamations of how devastating the attack was on production the estimates I hear say they will be back up to capacity in short order. I honestly don't give a schit how hard the bastards get hit, either side, as long as we don't get drug into the mess beyond selling them more equipment to blast each other with. I would think we are keeping our top of the line stuff secret and close to the vest...........if not we are fked.

I have an 18 inch 223 Wylde from Armalite, 1:8 twist stainless, it shoots lights out with whatever I feed it. Best accuracy has been with 77 grain SMK's but any average quality 55 grain load will do one MOA.

I had .073 on a 7.62x51 marked barrel and it runs great. Made the measurement with chineseum calipers using chineseum number bits for a gauge. Calipers were accurate into the 4th decimal point last I checked them on a standard. Odd, now we have two different factory gas port sizes and two different gas tube lengths.
-
Mine ran good right out the chute. I still haven’t checked the other spares I have but get a feeling there are two different variations.

@98Z5V Honored you felt the need to devote so many keystrokes in responding to my sarcastic sentence. You have your style, I have mine. -

@98Z5VI'm sure he will want to stay now with that encouragement......getting those pics for us as we speak I'm sure. @Popeye51 , Hang around and help us all learn a little, some of us are very interested in even a chance to learn something new, there is very little info out there on those lefty 308AR's. -
Hulk Hands Dry Hopped Gose from Prairie Artisan Ales, brewed and canned by Krebs Brewing C in Krebs, OK. Has a faint sour aroma with a little bread mixed in. Taste follows with just a faint sour and a malty bread dough flavor. It does have a very mild hop bitter at the finish. Sours are not usually my thing but this has a crisp, refreshing flavor, light enough to be a good chugger.

The 17th has actually had a bad influence on politics in America. Originally our state representatives had a direct influence on the federal government by appointing senators. They are closer to the people and were held responsible for their senate choices, much the same effect as the electoral college. With the 17th you get situations like hilliary, rich influential people move to a state buy a senate seat with mass media. Senators only answer to the big money and the parties now. The progressives understood how the 17th would work and pushed for it, it was a progressive idea to help the population centers they control have more influence. https://thefederalist.com/2017/08/08/time-repeal-17th-amendment-end-direct-election-senators/

https://www.armalite.com/product/10007010-ar10-rifle-length-gas-tube/ No substitute like the original

Check that part, reviews say it is not the AR-10 rifle length tube.

I agree with @washguy , try the standard spring first then move to the Armalite gas tube if that doesn't work, if it wasn't the spring then it never hurts to have a fresh spring around. That brass looks too close for an overgassed issue. It's a pain when they are not functioning but more rounds down the pipe may help as well.

Lorenzo The Beer Cat NEIPA brewed and canned by Dorchester Brewing Co. Boston Mass. for Fat Orange Cat and distributed by 12%. Has a mild citrusy aroma, a little fruity. Taste is outstanding, lots of fruity goodness, mango, cantaloupe, a little citrus, nothing over powering just a crisp clean harmony of flavor. There is a malty backbone with a hint of caramel and a real creamy rich mouth feel, sweet like a lactose beer. The finish has a touch of that hops bitter but just enough to balance the sweet. This is one outstanding beer, I will find more!

Most important components to pair up in 308 build
jtallen83 replied to bootsector's topic in General Discussion
https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10rekit01-6-position-receiver-extension-kit/ This is a good kit. I have a rifle with the Aero kit, it works but it took some adjusting to get it there. The Armalite is plug and play, no adjustments required. I preferred the fit and finish of the Brownells nitride BCG over the Toolcraft but both function fine. I sent back a Brownells retro BCG because it would not headspace on the intended barrel but did on other barrels, it was a very nice looking BCG and very reasonable. The nicest BCG I have used was from Fulton Armory, fantastic fit and finish and nice tight headspacing, a dead ringer for the JP BCG for much less money. -
Gas tube is a bit short, the Armalite tube would go past the ideal halfway point, another manufacturer splitting the difference. I would wait and see how it shoots but the gas tube may be your next item to swap.

jtallen83 replied to Popeye51's topic in Building a .308AR
Those ejector swipes are fairly common, I have one that makes a good mark but headspace is on the money. Is the ejector radiused on the edges? Radiused edges make a difference. It could also be a little overgassed or under assed, not enough weight in the recoil system to slow down the timing and allow the case to shrink back before the bolt starts moving causing deeper marks from both ejector and extractor. Have you checked headspace? -
Unless your buffer tube is some oddball inside depth the parts you have should be able to do the job, just a little tweaking needed. If you don't want to mess with tweaking it then the Armalite kit linked above will work, every time. See if you can get another turn on the tube. Put the rifle together and pull the charging handle all the way back and see what measurement you have between the bolt and the catch, I shoot for 3/16-1/8 inch, If the gap is bigger I would add a quarter. Put some sharpie on the marks from the carrier hitting the lower and check to see if it is still hitting, may need to fire a live round to know for sure as the bumper does compress some under recoil.
-
Hold up there! You need the correct length tube to use the Armalite buffer, it works as a system. What is the inside depth of the tube you have? Here is a link to the kit I mentioned, the search function here will lead you to all kinds of info on the buffer system. https://www.armalite.com/product/ar10rekit01-6-position-receiver-extension-kit/
-
As @Armed Eye Doc mentioned it does look like the buffer tube could go another turn, had to file a notch in one one of mine to get that turn and not bind the detent.
-
Drop a quarter or two in the buffer tube and see if that will stop the carrier from hitting. Also a picture of the gas tube in position inside the upper would help, many times we see AR15 tubes falling short in 308’s. Real Armalite parts in these areas often help. You never hear of the Armalite buffer kit, tube, spring, and buffer, having issues, uses a standard H3 buffer in a bit longer tube, that said your parts should work fine once you stop the contact, I have a build with an Aero buffer kit that had a similar issue, same marks on the lower, and 50 cents solved it. The Armalite rifle length gas tube is a touch longer giving a bit more dwell time.
-
I will be sharing this!
-
Sounds like all good quality parts. Where does the gas tube end inside the upper? Should be in the center of the cam pin cutout. Might pay to slide the gas block forward and look for the shadow of carbon to see if the port is completely open. Could be the tolerances are tight and it needs more rounds through it to mate the surfaces. Any marks on the lower right in front of the buffer tube? and Welcome from Iowa, via Missouri, be sure to introduce yourself in the introduction category.

Good schit right there!
