    Biathlon Guns

They use a lot of yoga breathing exercises to slow their heart rate during the shooting, then time to fire between heart beats. It is interesting training. The guy on Top Gear tried it with an Hand K MP5 and didnt even hit the target!
  4. Nice tires I have something similar on my Honda Foreman. Got the Electronic Shift one so no belt worries.
  5. Another welcome from Badgerland
  6. Kawasaki Vulcans, then I had a couple of near misses. Decided my reaction times weren't going to get any faster, so I quit while I was ahead.
  7. Used to be a motorcycle, now.... Plus I am involved in Great Lakes Fishery issues on a state and national level in addition to fishing a lot.

    Grilling

The Argentines make what they call a salt crust fish. They build two wood fires, one below a steel platform and one on a platform above it. On the platform is a whole salmon or big trout that is encased in salt. When done they take it off and crack the salt with a mallet. It is killer!

    Grilling

Try Argentine Parrilla sometime. Real simple, mince a clove of garlic and put in salt water, 1 tablespoon salt to one cup of water. Put favorit steak- T-Bone, Ribeye, bone in ribeye, porterhouse, in a plastic bag overnight in the refrigerator with the salt water garlic mix. Pull out the next day and allow to come to room temperature. Start a fire and allow to burn down to hot coals. Put a grate just above the height of the flames and preheat. Throw steak on for five minutes. Then rotate 90 degrees to get cross hatch grill marks. Leave two more minutes. Flip, rotate at five minutes ( this is for a 1 and 1/2 to two inch thick steak) Then watch for blood to ooze up through the cooked side. When that happens it is medium rare. At that point pull off the grill and allow to rest for five minutes. The salt water makes for a hard salty crust on the outside. Needs no more seasonings except pepper. Enjoy. Since I tried this I don't cook them any other way.

    Biathlon Guns

We have a biathalon club up here that trains kids in proper techniques. The rifles are by far the biggest expense. I skiied the olympic biathalon training course outside West Yellowstone years ago. Would have liked to have something larger than a 22 with me that day. It was April and the Grizzlies had come out of hibernation and trashed the track by walking across it with their big paws. Don't know if it is even there anymore.
  12. Good stuff. I got lucky last summer through a friend and got 700 175gr SMK BTHP bullets, so I am rolling my own for now. 42 gr RL15, Winchester Large Rifle Primers, Lake City and Federal brass.
  13. Correction: I meant Berger hybrid bullets not Barnes. Thanks Dane.
  14. Just logged on a reviewed Armalite tech notes. Only mention is not to use heavier than 180 gr bullets in 1 in 11.25 twist. Could not find much else. I will have to spend some time and do some research on those lighter bullets apparently.
  15. If my memory is right, Armalite recommends 150 grain or higher. I can't remember offhand if that is just for the AR10T. We are moving and my manual is packed. The lighter Barnes bullets interest me as they have some progressive thoughts on bullet design and corresponding ballistic coefficients. I do intend to pick some lighter ones up. Any preferred powder and load?
  16. For those of us who have the Standard Ar10 rifle with the 20 inch barrel, how about some experiences with what your favorite load is? With a 1 in 11.25 twist rather then the AR10T's 1 in 10, what bullets weights/powder combos have you found the best? As most of you know, Armalite recommends the 168 gr for the "T", but for the standard no real recommendations. Plus 20 versus 16 barrel could make some differences. Interesting enough, I have had best results with M118LR Lake City 175 gr SMK's. I have pretty good luck with 147 gr Nato surplus, but not as accurate. 2 - 2.5 MOA versus 1.5 or less. ( on my non coffee drinking days) right now the M118LR or my reload equivalent remains my favorite, but I want to do some experimenting with the Barnes line of bullets. Jump in with your thoughts.
  17. I have been looking for that book with no luck.
  18. Thanks
  19. Enter this under dumb questions, but I don't know much about the 300 Blackout and am interested in it. The question? Does a longer barrel help improve the distance this cartridge can be effective by any appreciable amount? My understanding is unless you are accomplished at computing howitzer trajectories, the practical limit for this cartridge is 300 yards. Just curious if a longer barrel might improve that.
  20. Welcome Wrenchbender.
  21. Nice Wrenchbender! Fill us in on the specifics.
  22. Alaskan fishing can be combat fishing unless you have a plane, and it can still get crowded. I was up the Talkeetna river in 2004 10 miles from the nearest road, and there were 62 other people fishing with me on a gravel bar!
  23. Guessing the Army purchase is to support Iraqi and Afghani military forces. Years ago the Army made a huge purchase of Arsenal AK type 7.62x39 weapons from Bulgaria to standardize the weaponry of the Iraqi and Afghan defense forces. The Russians were miffed at that time because the Bulgarians under bid them and the plant was built with Soviet assistance in the first place.
  24. A little paronoia is a good thing, they are all out to get me anyway.
