I have used a Komodo style Barbeque Smoker for the last 6 years. Called the "Akorn" ,I sold my tower smoker a year after I got it and haven't looked back. All the stuff I post under grilling has been cooked on it. It smokes, It grills, it bakes, and everything is excellent. The Akorn is twin walled steel with insulation in between so that it holds heat even at -20 Fahrenheit. I have smoked Brisket, pork shoulders, ribs, short ribs lake trout, steel head and whitefish on it to name a few. I have grilled every steak cut known to man on it and I like it because I can get it in the 500-600F range to sear in the juices on the steak. I swear by it, not at it.

Thank you I hadn't seen that update. I would think with those all aspect helmet displays vertigo would be a problem. I knew about the Turkish situation, probanly for the better with Erdogan. With modern integrated air defence, info would have trickled down to the Russians in even the best case scenario

I have a sneaky suspicion they have a complete F35 already. Last year the first Japanese F35 squadron was doing a 4 plane training flight when the flight leader intentionally turned off his transponder, radioed "continue with the mission" and disappeared. No trace of the pilot or plane has been found. Guessing it is in Chinese or Russian hands, and he is living the good life, very wealthy, somewhere.

Did it involve a 1911? Thread Police🤣 Albro, that is impressive!

2 of my 308’s have 1 in 11.25 twist. And shoot gang busters. Unless you shoot every day at 800+ yards, you won’t notice the difference. Also interested in the Sino defense thread. I try to keep up On their latest developments in defense, strategy and tactics. Majored in Asian studies and studied Mandarin a long long time ago. As when Chairman Mao was still in power. Never trust them to do anything but what is in their best interest. And never underestimate the Chinese.

Gonna steal this one. Hits the target.

Strange thing my box of 100 AMAX bullets only contained 90. Call Hornady Monday.

Billymag don't sweat the wondering thread. The topic will come back eventually. Actually dialing back your scope magnification might have tightened your group. You get over magnified and the scope hairs can jump with your heartbeat. Just use the magnification you need.

Almost the same thing happened to me in 2012. I got back into reloading and I scored on 7 pounds of RL15. Liked it so much I stuck with it. Might have to look at Accurate 2495. I have gone to the Hornady AMAX projectile from Sierra SMK’s and the results so far, are really impressive. I could only get the 168 grn AMAX, but with RL15 in my M1A with 11.25 twist the groups are excellent. Next time out I will try the AR10 Standard rifle with 11.25 twist. I can see though I am going to become a hoarder with these AMAX until they are plentiful.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2
Sisco replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
500 Hornady 168 gr 308 AMAX, 100 Hornady 45 acp 230 gr. JHP’s, 250 12 gauge skeet loads. -
I really like RL15. A tad bit faster burning then Varget, hence a lower pressure curve. I believe 4895 has an even lower pressure curve, just not that familiar with it. If I was loading max for my M1A I would probably switch to it just to protect the operating rod, but I really never load to the Max. And in the direct impingement AR10’s it doesn’t matter quite so much.
-
It would be nice if we could get the military data from their tests for their Long Distance sniper rounds. After Iraq they switched powder at least once in the M118LR, due to temperature induced variations. I believe they went to RL15 from Varget. That was quite some time ago.

Error: Those were AMAX 168 gr Bullets I loaded not ELX. Ordering more right now. They are great!
-
Gotcha, thanks.
-
Would you trust whoever it is, with mounting your scope,?
-
Thanks for the 260 gr interlock tip. May try that. Might be good for Alaska for the bear medicine we have to carry fishing.

Wish I had brought my phone today. Shot that load in Your PPU brass. Five shots , 100 yards, could cover them with a quarter out of my M1A. Found my new go to load and bullets. Shot 20 total and my M1A loved them.
-
Yeah, I realize that. Generally unless I have. a specific goal I don’t load up to the max anyway. I wanted this load to be comfortable to shoot in the carbine and the wheelguns.interchangeably.
-
XTP’s, actually still had a little room Left. No flattened primers, no signs of overpressure. Quite accurate in my Henry 44 mag carbine. Haven’t tried it in my S&W wheel guns yet. That is the max H110 load without going into the red in the Hornady reloading manual for that bullet.I can’t remember the COL offhand, but it was the spec in the Hornady manual for that bullet.

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/gun-review-fn-fnar-rifle/ Sounds interesting, but have your anti anxiety medications available for disassembly and reassembly. It is based on the FN BAR. I always wanted one of those in 7mm Remington Magnum. With a thermal sight it could be real interesting for hogs.

If they are doing well they are not doing it on retail sales. I have not seen Armalite in ANY gun store of ANY size since Palmer sold the company. In Florida, Minnesota or Wisconsin. And being an Armalite fan I am always looking. Guessing then government and or foreign sales have become the bulk of their business.
