    Falconry

I'd imagine you'd need a lot of open space to do this type of hunting. There's not much where I live. Thanks for sharing. It definately seems like a very full-on committment.
  2. I consider myself a fairly open-minded person but the startup of this channel infuriates me to no end! I kept hearing advertising for this garbage on my local sports radio programming and I changed the channel. So now we as Americans, who are still fighting a war on terror, allow for this? http://www.newsday.com/opinion/oped/may-what-s-wrong-with-al-jazeera-america-a-lot-1.5973155 http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/08/20/how-well-do-you-know-al-jazeera-glenn-beck-reveals-networks-origins-some-telling-clips-you-may-not-have-seen/
  3. That has to be one of the most interesting things I've heard someone do in regards to hunting. It must be fun. It makes my occasional fishing and kayaking seem pretty bland.
  4. Great pics, Magwa. I know it wasn't accurate but Falconer had a nice ring to it lol. I wouldn't want to piss someone off that hunts with a bird of prey after all.
  5. You beat me to it. That is completely awesome! Ignore the Magwa shrine in my basement. You shall hence forth be named The Falconer.
  6. ^^^Terry, it's a good post for discussion and I believe many of us understood the context of your original statement. It just merely veered into another case in point of open carry. Many of your statements are accurate but a department's chain of command is not going to get involved in a simple arrest if there are no glaring issues. That is unless a department is so incredibly and overwhelmingly micromanaged that nothing goes unchecked. This is unlikely. As you may have read, I agree that the charge of DC can be abused. It all comes down to training. A well-trained professional LEO should have a better understanding of how to correctly apply laws even better than a lawyer in regards to quick decision making. A poorly trained and uneducated LEO is a different story. Remember that lawyers are not there during the commission of crimes and often have months and years to pick apart reports. Additionally, many many of these youtube videos show a video that did not tape all of a particular event or events. I'm not saying that this one is an example of that just mentioning it. People all too often get so worked up when they see aggressive police action but ironically enough the seconds before it are "magically" not available. It seems that up to half the people I encounter, dependant upon the area, hate LEO and the job is often thankless. It requires a tough skin and constant professionalism.
  7. Good post, Easy. He makes too much sense sometimes and is a very articulate guy. It's great watching responsible people enjoy certain rights like the original vid. However, many great points have been made on both sides. Some dink that wants to goat the police into an encounter to force his or her civil liberties down their throats gets old real quick. I'd like to see more open carry laws but I personally would not do it if I were allowed to do so. It is dangerous to open carry on an everyday basis (IMO) if you don't know how to defend yourself. Some a-hole that wants to try take you by surprise will likely always have a slight edge (just one of many bad scenarios). I don't want anyone in the general public to know I'm carrying when off-duty unless I need to use my gun.
  8. Unfortunately, disorderly conduct has been known to be a blanket charge for certain incidents but that was ridiculous. It's a complete pain in the ass that LEOs have to check on all those calls and it ties up valuable resources but we should be fortunate enough to have more citizens like that. DC for something even close to that is mind boggling. I'd like to see the elements on that charge in TX...I don't see how they'd be met in a situation like that.
  9. wtf? Another BS action that feels like someone just pissed on my breakfast.
  10. All grown up and skanky as hell. A face only a mother could love. That reminds me, there are reruns of Mr Ed on tonight.
  11. I'm not a big assessory guy but I still like the option to have them. Robo brings up some good points. I haven't read up too much on the Fortis yet because I'm not ready to buy, but the look and weight are key selling points.
  12. My current choice for an ultra light free floating rail/handguard... https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=3366
  13. Very nice build.
  14. Sounds like a great cause, Easy. None of us were there so the point of the dog not being manageable could have happened but word here (however truthful) is that he was kicked out right away just because of the dog. I'm sure there was a colorful exchange. The majority of major news affiliates are covering the story and people are constantly driving by honking. Protests/boycotts are also pending. I bet the owner is wishing he just kept his mouth shut. The place looks like a dive anyways.
  15. This is a local to MA story but shocking at what a DB the business owner is, even during an interview. I hope that move to kick out the vet sinks his business. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2013/08/26/oxford-diner-owner-says-veteran-service-dog-not-welcome-in-restaurant/
  16. I've already bought the lower for my future ultra light build but I didn't think that weight was possible. That's incredible. I'll be happy if I get mine under 5 lbs. w/everything.
  17. ^^^confirming the good idea portion... the crime involvement with a potentially stolen prior 80% will likely bring a strong helping of deeeeeeep doodoo lol. Nice point brother. Another thing....if a person buys the drillpress template (you machinists will no doubt add to this) to finish one off, you are losing a bunch of money unless you do a whole lot of them. Those 80's are still pricey and they don't come coated.
  18. I've done a fair bit of reading on the subject but am by no means an expert. From what I've gathered, and this could vary depending on your state, an 80% lower is deemed to be an equivalent of a paperweight (as was previously stated). Robo made a very smart statement by recommending some sort of serial number. You will in fact need a serial number if you plan on selling it and thats the main reason for a serial number so the weapon has some basic level to be tracked for commercial sales. If I were to do one, I would keep every single piece of paper to record the process. Pics might not be a bad idea as well, considering you can finish it in your garage with the right equipment. An envelope with the gun case containing copies will add an extra layer of "cover your ass." CA seems to be a popular state for those interested in 80% lowers. Also, there are a few companies that work with you and supposedly don't keep paper trails which has been said to exist for ATF purposes by a few 80 companies.
  19. Lock 'n Load you ugly motherf-ers! lol
  20. I would love to try it.
  21. I've never used a bump stock but wouldnt that recoil rail be counterproductive for it? My completely uninformed thought is that the stock relies on recoil for the subsequent shots yet that rail reduces recoil.
  22. Very nice brother, I'll take one of each please.

    Well...

^^^rite of passage in the Army. While in Germany, we used to strip down the M249, M240B, & M16A2, put them in a foot locker, and time each other while blindfolded. We had really good times....and a whole lot of time on our hands to do this and single weapons frequently.
  24. He doesn't buy it because he can sense the bullsh!t alarm. Unfortunately, mine has the same sense.
  25. Very true. I think many are being sold on the idea of how one can avoid corrosion with this and that coating or the little amount of lubrication that might be needed with certain coatings. Unfortunately, there's a big price difference between many of the choices. I'm interested in cerakoting because of the durability and how there's a growing number of certified people that are very good at the patterns that they can create. However, I'll be paying through the nose for the look. It's not something that I'll be carefree about doing with all my rifles and handguns....mainly because that equals less in the safe.
