I found out a long time ago I don't want to have a situation where I need to shoot something as small as a squirrel or as large as a Mall Cop at 1200 meters to stay alive, so back in the day my scopes were all 4x fixed power Weavers, Redfield, or Bushnell, I even have a 4 power Mauser marked scope,BTY it still holds a good zero on the old customized 03A3. I bought them because of price or durability now my eyes like the 1x to 5x for the peashooters or the 5x by 18X for the .308 and 3006. I never thought it a good idea to put a $1000 piece of glass on a $400 rifle, just don't make sense to this old brown shoe jarhead.

Could this maybe supposed to read: I carry both slung across the body ( Muzzle up , on my back ) & on the Shoulder? I use a Beachin' sling and it works well for me on my mini 14 with an original Ruger wood stock or a pre banChoate folding stock. I haven't needed to carry the DPMS LR 308 slung yet, but will.

Yes I also like the 12" or 12.5" I could make a quick job with an 4.5" angle grinder clamped in a vise, since I sold my old bench grinder, then use a file and finish it off with a Dremmel tool. rather than have to pull the birdcage and the gas block. Cut off the old Delta ring and weld spring, unscrew the barrel nut and pull the barrel.

I have done some general sloppy measurements and believe I can file and grind down the original gas block enough for a metal freefloating hand guard to clear the gas block on a DPMS LR 308 Oracle. Anyone done this?

I'm going along with Wash Go to David Tubb's web site watch his videos specially the one on the one promoting the flat wire buffer springs. David Tubb is the real thing in high power rifle as far as I am concerned. His AR10 LR308 flat wire spring has 42 coils. And is less than $30. I have one on order (has shipped) YES, I will report on it,as compared to the original spring in my factory original DPMS LR308 Oracle. I have no dog in this issue except the facts.
