  3. Welcome from Comanche county texas, on this beautiful first day of May 2015
  4. back in the day I didn't consider weight important as firepower. Maybe tthat is why I was promoted? to BAR man. Boy I did hate to double time with that BAR at port arms. I learned a good trick. our utilities had the second button covered with a flap and I would slide my thumb in over the button and kind of hang part of the weight on that button. I got really good at sewing that button on extra heavy duty I did a lot of thinking about getting away from my 0300 Mos. and applied for and got a transfer to artillery as a MT mechanic.

    Hello

I like the looks of the wood on that rifle. I have several old M1 walnut stocks that have been wallowed out in the receiver area I bought as junk. maybe I can get out the wood working band saw and some rasps and chisels and build a set of stock and handguard for my DPMS. If I can figure how to attach the wood to the ass end of the rifle, maybe I should order an extra receiver extension tube and do some welding on it, maybe . any clues from your Windham? I have done some stock work from blanks for Mauser and Springfields and a couple of Remington 1100s in my younger days. I have plenty of sitting time. A walnut stock might even quiet down some of that clang! whang! sound of the buffer spring noise. Is that a Brownell Latigo sling ?
  6. EXACTLY! We have a stupid RINO congressman. He is really just a lobbyist for the establishment. They gerrymandered the congressional district so that us middle class fools don't have a chance. I hope that old Hank Williams song isn't too far off! "A Country Boy can Survive"
  7. A very nice pistol the grips really add to the looks, what caliber?
  8. Most of us Texicans will stay aware of what is going on around us, no protests, no showing off our fat assed milita wanna-bees. No pranceing around with open carry , wearing O.D. tee shirts with "come and get it" written in blood and our old mashed up jungle hats. We will keep on buying powder, primers, bullets and corn pone fritters, water filters and fire starters. We will keep on building deer blinds, baiting crappie holes, planting wildlife grazing crops, raising cattle, and stocking up our storm cellers. We are more afraid of crooked politicians, fear mongering mainstream media, tornados, floods, wildfires, snakes and wild hogs than our military doing training exercises.
  9. Hey AdamO! I think that Cessna 172 used to be a Texas or Oklahoma airplane My Oklahoma Cessna 172M that I sold in 1983, because my company decided I needed to be bonded and a condition was no more flying private fixed or rotary winged aircraft. N20721 is still flying up in Connecticut. but has been repainted a modern style and the wheel pants are gone.

    Hello

Hello from the Crosstimbers area of Central Texas. I know there are some big nasty bugs in SW Oklahoma, but a bug killer needing a bulldozer to kill them is some serious stuff! We used to do a lot of camping and fishing at Luger Lake and at Quartz Mountain. Got to tour a C-5 at Altus AFB My wife has a cousin that preaches at a Church of Christ in Altus.
  11. I noticed one adult male looter made a haul.. A can of Pringles a bag of pampers and a roll of paper towels.
  12. I don't worry too much about weight, that is why I carry a full size Colt Govt. 45. just get a good fitting sling for your smoke pole, and start working out, the knees are the first to go. A diesel powered Gator helps get you there here in the home boonies.
  13. sending PM for details
  14. I shot some cast wheel weight bullets with gas checks in my model 94 3030 with good results pure lead swadged bullets were too soft for my rifle worked well lb a 45 Auto pistol. I used a mild load of 4895. You need a powder that gives a decent fill in the cartridge case.
  15. Blue, I agree that if the money situation allows we should stock up while we can. Most of what is going on in the investment world is a mystery to me.
  16. That is what I paid for my DPMS 7.62 Oracle in December from a local dealer. Added Burris mounts and a Bushnell AR 1-4X40 scope, front sling mount Magpul 20 and 10 round magazines for a total price of $1100 plus change. all new in the boxes. Now I added a SSA trigger and have a nice shooting LR308 for$1300
  17. I went to the Bullseycamera.com website and was really impressed. The Ammocam long range one looks to be top notch. The software seems incredible. I think they would be good candidates sponsors for this site. You can download a manual and instructions for using their software app. Good job Unforgiven!
  18. Like!
  19. Hey Unforgiven! That is exactly what I was thinking about, but better. That is one hell of a good price too! Thanks for finding it. That is just one more thang I won't have to worry about inventing. Thanks, I think I'll take a nap.
  20. Yes that is good to do! I haven't gotten into cell phones to use their full potential, after all I am an old codger, a brown shoe Marine that had to convert to being a black shoe Marine. I'll need to visit my 16 year old grandson, he talks way over my head on smart phones, I pads, I phones etc. I only recently got a tracfone with a camera. your idea is good. It is seldom that I am able to have a friend go shoot and coach. If I had ever thought I'd live this long, I would have taken more risks. We just got a new Tahoe and I still am having a heck of a time getting the WIFI hotspot set up so I can read my email and surf the www. Thanks,
  21. Damn straight, Airplanes, tanks, pickup trucks, big and little boats move on fossil fuels. plastics are made from it and GUNPOWDER and NAPALM molotov cocktails, and styrofoam coffee cups, car and pickup tires. SUVs and Gators and Kawasaki Mules, John Deeres Farmalls, ferris wheels, roller coasters, electric generating plants to make the lights work, NASCARS, Caterpillers and drilling rigs and 350 powered hotrods! and motorcycles gotta have it! Methanol and ethanol eats up my Quadrajet Carbs and my fuel pumps.
  22. Right now I just have the concept. A high res wireless video camera with a built in transmitter transmit a high res color image over 1500M to a receiver coupled to either a laptop, a HD tablet at the shooting bench. I would mount the camera with a small 12 Volt motorcycle- riding mower battery on a tripod like the RVers use for their Directv dish. Set the camera about 15 feet to the front of the target at a 60 degree angle. I wish I had the video sense to pick and chose the parts needed. I found a surveillance camera transmitter for outdoor use and receiver that will transmit a video signal over 1500M down to 100 feet. That setup would cost around $600 without a laptop, which I already have, or a HD tablet like my Kindle Fire H.D. Maybe some of our younger shooters could help bring the concept to fruitaion. I don't want to make anything off of it, just make it easier for long distant shooters to monitor their targets. I don't know anyone that can use optics to see .308 bullet holes in paper out to 700M, I sure as heck can't.
  23. I will do that. May be the middle of May before I get to shoot.
