  1. Syrac is nice stuff, I am looking at SLR for my current build.
  2. Ya we got some in E. WA, depends if any MT guys come, or Magwa can come up, otherwise I can floor it over to Seattlstan.
  3. Great round, you will be well served.

    What year is your gun?
  5. Might be too short of notice, but... Seems like there are a bunch of us PNW guys around here. Maybe we should take a page out of the AZ guys playbook and schedule a 308AR.com greet and shoot before the snow flies. I could do some scouting for places in Eastern WA which would probably be easiest for everyone if we get PPL from each state. What say you?
  6. When I was young I used to love to drink in the dive bars, hang out with the old guys, listen to all the great stories, these days its at the range.
  7. Well if you miss em at least you'll scare em to death! Haha! Nice work young man. ;-)

Good stuff, thanks for the response mrraley. BUT The following is what I would add to that... DI1) Free floated barrels, obviously the DI gun lends itself to FF your barrel, and the piston gun has a moving rod connecting the barrel to the action which may affect accuracy. true Check 2) Less moving parts on a DI gun, and when it comes to this stuff less is more, less potential problems. true Check 3) Lighter weight, DI guns are slightly lighter, and we all know under some conditions weight = pain. partially true... weight also helps reduce felt recoil Yes, it all depends on the point of use what matters more. 4) DI is the standard Mil-Spec configuration, parts are readily available everywhere and interchangeable. correct Check 5) DI is more affordable than piston guns. true Check 6) DI require much more care and maintenance. not necessarily true... you would perform the same amount of maintenance on either rifle. Not so, the piston will run much longer without having to lubricate, and clean the BCG etc. 7) DI guns dump hot, dirty, gas into the BCG and affects reliability. with proper care and maintenance, this is not a factor. Correct, but that is related to #6 PISTON1) Runs cleaner, resistant to heat, generally more reliable. false. it does not run cleaner, it just places the carbon and dirt in another location. How would this make it more reliable? Actually yes and no, they do deposit fouling up in the hand guard area, but its a reduced amount and its effect is far less problematic than all the captured fouling, heat, and dry bolt you get with a DI. Fact is pistons are cleaner and run longer without having to perform maintenance. 2) Less maintenance, tried and true design ie; AK-47 false. with more moving parts, you have more items to maintain. I mentioned that aspect in #2 of the DI section. also false about the AK47. the AK is a true piston, with the AR style being a push rod. The AK's piston is in the gas chamber and is connected to the bolt carrier not like the AR's where it is a floating push rod that hits the top of your bolt carrier. Meh, short stroke vs long stroke is a long debated comparison, PWS has a long stroke piston if you want one in an AR-15 platform. 3) Piston guns run better with suppression, opinion Not opinion, unless you consider common knowledge as opinion 4) Piston guns make better SBR's opinion See #3 5) Less gas blow back in your face. true, only due to the fact that it is under your handguard now. Okay... but still not in your face! haha 6)Can run a piston gun longer without lubricating etc. than DI under hard conditions. false... still have metal on metal contact which still needs lubrication. 100% true, piston guns will run much much longer without lubrication. 7)Piston guns come with adjustable gas block 8)Piston guns are slightly heavier true, equates to the more parts on the rifle See #2 in DI 9)Piston guns use proprietary parts true, which equates to the higher pricing. See # 11 10)Early piston guns had carrier tilt issues, but that is virtually resolved at this juncture false, you still and always will have carrier tilt issues. Meh, its a red herring that anti's throw out there, I have never seen it, I don't know anyone who has either, and by the time you have to replace the $30 buffer tube assy you will also have to re-barrel, and relace the BCG! Haha 11)Piston guns are more expensive true Check

Ya, its not a Glock... but you'll be good to go, no worries. ;-)
  10. Being an OG Cali guy myself, I feel horrible for you, and, well gee, I wish I could help, but speaking from my ex Cali experience here in Idaho, listen the whole state is filled with racists, skinheads, traffic is ridiculous, meth addicts are everywhere, crime is rampant... need I say more? There's 48 other states to choose from, but don't come here! ...for your own good of course. ;-) Ya the mobile version of our beloved 308AR is... whats the PC way to say it... hmm.. oh yes, challenged. Ha!
  11. One day a young cowboy and cowgirl decided to get married. He was a man of the world. She was an innocent bride with no experience. After the wedding they left for their honeymoon. While driving down the road, the new bride sees two cows having sex. The new bride asks "What are them cows up to honey?" The husband, a bit flustered, answers "Why can't you see? Them cows, they're roping!" She replies "Oh, I see!" After a few more hours of driving they pass two horses having sex. Again the bride asks "What are them horses doing honey?" The husband answers again "Them horses, they're roping!" She replies "Oh, I see!" Finally they arrive at their hotel. The couple washed up and started to get ready for bed. When they got in the bed, they start to explore each other's bodies. Things are going along fine until the bride discovers her husband's penis. "Oh my!" she cries "What is that?" "Well, darl'in'" he chuckles proudly "That's ma'rope!" She slides her hands down further and gasps "Oh my goodness! What are those?" she asks. "Honey, those're my knots!" he answers. Finally the couple begins to make love. After several minutes the bride says "Stop honey, wait a minute!" Her husband, panting a little, asks "What's the matter honey, am I hurting you?" "No" the bride replies "undo them damn knots, I need more rope!"
  12. ...I luv ya man...burp. Haha What a stud, man handling .45 ACP in the baby S frame! Sights look sharp, will have to check em out. Congats. ;-)
  13. Please do keep us informed, very curious about that... ;-)
  14. I'll tell you there is nothing quite as devastatingly elegant and a Berger 230gr OTM Hybrid Target slamming into the steel at 1150yds! (Out of my 300WM bolt gun) Barnes are excellent, though I have settled in with the Nosler Accubond LR's and Berger hunting bullets. Berger is in the LA area, US Optics is out in the Island Empire, you're in mecca Brother, you should go visit some of those guys and spread the 308AR gospel! ;-)
  15. Right on. That threat would have been effectively taken out of the fight 19 or 20 times over... Congrats!
  16. I love the A-Max's, and have wanted to use those or SMK's or the Berger Target's to hunt but have been hesitant to do that. Of course the Secret Service, and Marines have used the 168gr and 175 gr SMK's as sniper bullets for a long time, so I would assume they'd be just fine. ;-)
  17. Nosler Accubond 165gr ... you will not be disappointed. ;-)

You will be fine I'm sure, all these guns models are first rate high quality handguns for sure, its all a matter of what ya like. I put Zev trigger connector bars and ext'd mag releases in all my glocks, makes for EZ control manipulations and a very acceptable and smooth 3.5 +/- trigger pull. I am very like minded, want a 10mm G29, it the baby Glock 10mm model as opposed the the 20 which is full sized and I am not sure how much you save in weight bulk etc over the 454, the G29 would be a great chest rig gun. I have a Ruger Tolkat is 454 Casull and it is heavy, but the revolving insurance in brown bear country is a small price to pay! lol
  19. If these guys who get out of jail want to still be bad guys, no amount of regulatory action will prevent them from getting a gun, they will continue to offend and find themselves incarcerated as they should be. HOWEVER, a guy who gets out of jail and wants to become a law abiding citizen SHOULD IMO have the ability to enjoy all the rights and benefits of that citizenship. There are bad guys, I mean really bad guys out there, and those are the guys who do make there own beds, recidivism will land their asses when they belong. But like PF21's friend being forbidden to own a firearm, to protect himself, his loved ones, and his property, FOR LIFE because of a piece of pizza, and there are 1000,000's, probably millions of such cases, now that's just insanity and shouldn't be tolerated. All these felony convictions do is create fringe criminals out of otherwise decent people, who find themselves forever outcast or in and out of the system for petty probation violations, failed urine tests, etc. Look if a person is caught doing something unlawful arrest them, give them due process, if convicted punish them appropriately, and then leave them the f**k alone! Just the libertarian coming out that has been beaten into me after decades of disappointment with where our government has gone, and its gone completely awry in regards to infringing on our liberties, and the courts and penal system is an obscene mess!

Plus's and minus's to both of course. I have both and without going into the minutia of it all, here are my general thoughts; DI1) Free floated barrels, obviously the DI gun lends itself to FF your barrel, and the piston gun has a moving rod connecting the barrel to the action which may affect accuracy. 2) Less moving parts on a DI gun, and when it comes to this stuff less is more, less potential problems. 3) Lighter weight, DI guns are slightly lighter, and we all know under some conditions weight = pain. 4) DI is the standard Mil-Spec configuration, parts are readily available everywhere and interchangeable. 5) DI is more affordable than piston guns. 6) DI require much more care and maintenance. 7) DI guns dump hot, dirty, gas into the BCG and affects reliability. PISTON1) Runs cleaner, resistant to heat, generally more reliable. 2) Less maintenance, tried and true design ie; AK-47 3) Piston guns run better with suppression, 4) Piston guns make better SBR's 5) Less gas blow back in your face. 6)Can run a piston gun longer without lubricating etc. than DI under hard conditions. 7)Piston guns come with adjustable gas block 8)Piston guns are slightly heavier 9)Piston guns use proprietary parts 10)Early piston guns had carrier tilt issues, but that is virtually resolved at this juncture 11)Piston guns are more expensive I love both, have several DI and only one piston, but I can certainly see why all the elite, top tier, and special forces/ops guys run piston guns. So, take your pick. ;-)

Funny stuff Sisco! Ya I know JT, I was a Bill Wilson, Ed Brown 1911 guy for a lot of years, but when I moved up to live a rural life in Idaho I would cringe every time I even thought I might scratch my $2800 pistol. lol So I bought a Glock, and at first the grip was an issue, but after I shot it and shot it some more it just became second nature and isn't concern anymore. Now I couldn't care less about what happens to it as I am out in the field working and see those small imperfections that occur as I am pulling fence or working the livestock as badges of honor! ;-) Not to mention with any of my Glocks if I come across an awnry critter (or pissed off piece of dishware) I have 17 Rds (34 as I always have a spare +2 mag on me) of 147gr Gold Dot and a virtual lock on the ability to make a positive engagement on the threat under any environmental conditions. Yes of course Glocks can fail too, hasn't happened to me yet, but it may/will someday and that's where the training and preparation comes in right. What more can a guy ask for? ;-)
  22. Well there it is, you heard it from the man that knows... I just read an article in RifleShooter magazine. Scratch that one off the list. On another note, is CMMG a... shall we say "problematic" company? I hadn't really heard or read about that here before?

Dishwasher safe, okay ya I can see that, or maybe the rock solid reliability, parts availability, and serviceability... LOL!
  24. Ya I didn't see them... I think I will have to hold out for the X-Caliber. They are not bad tho actually, their prices are going up but I think they are still in the introductory rates, I have two and about to buy a third, and the are in the low-mid $200's. Awesome quality barrels! Rob should call them, I bet Dustin just might become a sponsor, he was actually on the same precision rifle podcast Rob was. They're good guys, decades of experience, small company with great service.
  25. Lot of the 6.5 guys are lighting it up at some of these local matches these days, what a killer super accurate cartridge that is. Whats the build specifics, what receivers, barrel, bolt, etc are you employing?
