Just wanted to point out something. You talked about wanting a lightweight rifle, which is all well and good but how much are you willing to spend to shed the ounces? The proof carbon and some other carbon barrels for one will give a nice lightweight barrel with great cooling properties and while still keeping a rather stiff barrel... but it comes at a cost. $940 cost if I am not mistaken for a proof carbon fiber barrel. You could get slightly heavier barrels for much cheaper. If you got the money to put more high end parts on your build and that's what you want, go for it. If not, keep in might you might have to compromise. That being said, you're building a rather short .308, not gonna be as long as your average bolt hunting rifle, so even if it is a little more weight, the weight will be closer to your core where it will be more manageable. Not to mention weight helps with recoil. If you want the carbon fiber barrel, maybe try https://christensenarms.com/ I mainly just wanted to point out the $ vs lightweight and other benefits with the barrel because it is the most noticeable, but it applies to most parts really. As for other things: Pistol grip- I like my Magpul MIAD Grips Gas System- Keep in mind rifle length may feel nicer, but not all notice, and can make a rifle more picky with ammo which might take other tweeking then. Midlength might be the way to go for you if you shoot a lot of different loads. BCG- I know a while back I believe one of the site sponsors had a great deal on a nice bolt carrier group. Maybe checkout what our sponsors can offer your build, and they can usually help you out with any questions and give you a great deal. I don't think you can go wrong with JP, but it's gonna cost ya. lol. Hand Guard- bravo company is reasonably priced and got a nice look, don't think you can go wrong if it is the style you like. Other things out there that are more simple and lighter, just not as tacticool in my opinion.

I can't help thinking of the Patriot where Mel Gibson has multiple muskets already loaded and then finishes them off with a tomahawk.

This is definitely gun porn worthy, nice looking rifle.

Man I wish I had a rich uncle, more things to add to my long long wish list -
the bald eagles around me are starting to hang around the roads a lot more this time of year because in fall and winter they feed on deer carcasses a lot more that were hit on the road.

Yeah I was thinking the same, that is far more than just assembling a rifle... and with amazing precision. props with a bit of jealousy.

My favorite pistol is a cz75 single action with a thumb safety. I picked it up for $640. I added cocobolo wood grips. It is a beautiful and comfortable pistol that holds 16+1. Accurate as can be, my aunt shot mine, who had never shot a pistol before, and was hitting beer cans without misses at 15 yards. Little different feel to the grip and trigger from a 1911, but I would recommend this gun to anyone who likes single action. For the price, it is well worth it.

were the sailors to busy playing with their torpedoes? I would think they would only let other ships get so close. so much of this country's money goes into our navy. do you know how many soldiers could of been equipped with better gear for the cost of those ships? I can't even think of the possibilities. If we put the money into these things, we need to protect them by any means. our fleet used to be the most feared in the world, I think it is probably the laughing stock of fleets these days.

He probably just knew it would be an easy win for him. :P

Thats a good question shepp... maybe because we have to deal with politics more than any other agency in the state. We drive the governor around, getting promoted is a very political thing basically, and anything political happens it affects us the most, whether it is radicals having a rally/riot or even just a new policy because one stupid officer screwed things up for everyone. Who knows. Maybe they just dont get laid enough. Lol

Yeah i love being a trooper. So much more freedom and i dont have calls unless there is a broken down vehicle on the interstate, a crash, or other agency asking for help. So it is a lot like being self employed most of the time. I chose what i want to do do, which up her often times with so few officers in the area i choose to help county and municipal agencies, which can be a lot of fun with little to no report.

Sisco, if you ever make it out towards tomah or farther west, let me know and bring your rifle. Lol. So far no email about the shooting of the officers, my supervisors probably wanting to get all the facts before they send out an email to us.

the Wisconsin state patrol is hiring. :P the good thing about being up where I am at in the hills of Wisconsin, you don't have to play "what if he/she has a gun" because you are 100% sure everyone has a gun within arms reach. lol. I have been off for the past 3 days, but I will check my email and can get you guys any more information on the deaths of those officers, seems you can't easily find much on it. probably because the media is controlled by the democommies.
-
I'm only going to do traffic stops around sisco and shepp's houses with them providing over watch from their roofs. Thanks for your support guys, it is truly sad that more and more officers are being killed all the time, especially when it hits so close to home. And what these assholes don't understand is there will always be those willing to stand up for what is right, to protect those that need protecting, and bring justice to those that do wrong.

I myself prefer leather over latex, but still lube always helps.

Lol. Just checking guys, i know people that have a reputation for spreading missinformation and thats the last thing i want for myself on this forum. From what i can figure so far from further research, basically just like any gun built from a bunch of different parts, a 260 will need to be tweaked to get it functioning perfectly. And shepp, i know the lack of money to build a gun isnt an excuse to being a stranger. It is more of the lack of time because of the new house and been spending time with the family in the dells whenever it is warm enough.

Yeah, that was me on the other forum. I posted the same thing here. And if you read it carefully, i am saying what i was told by local builders, and asking if it was bullpoopy. We discussed it here on this forum and came to the the conclussion that it was missinformation. But dont confuse it as me spreading missinformation, because i was clearly asking if others had heard the same thing. So far my build has come to a halt as my vehicle needed $3500 in repairs and i bought a house. Still needing barrel, bolt carrier group, and trigger assembly.

I need to start doing some coyote hunting, I only just shoot them when they wonder nearby me. lol

nice! what are you planning on hunting out to 400 yards?

My Wisconsin tradition is beer and catching tree limbs, docks, and weeds while staring at chicks in bikinis.
