  1. Serial says '78 357 Mag. Great caliber for a blackhawk.
  2. Pretty cool
  3. The Noreen 80% forged lowers were plug and play with "DPMS pattern" uppers. Seemed like really nice quality. Have not tried their "Billet" or "100%" lowers.
  4. Brother built a 308, Toolcraft NiB BCG, BA barrel?, Nightforce glass. Pretty fair build. Hadn't shot it yet and was having feeding issues when manually cycled, I told him to soak the BCG in Mobile 1. He showed up at the range today, with a quart of mobile one and a piece of wire, fishes out the BCG, thing ran sweet brass was getting dinged a little so we opened up the AGB a little more, shot like a champ. When we were done he pulled the BCG and dropped it back in the quart of oil. I was going to tell him after he hits 100 rounds h probably doesn't need to do that any more. Maye next time. Flip side found out my new glasses prescription I can't see open sights on my AKs or my 45-70 Down Under. AT ALL! Kinda sucked. More tears.
  5. 200 45-70, some for the brother's Pedersoli 1874, some for my Down Under 1874, and some for the Guide Gun.
  6. Looks like a nice place to shoot. Envy you guys! (and gals)
  7. After getting done with the 1000+ 308 disassembled the reloading benches and moved everything out of the way, replaced all the rusty iron and PVC water pipe in the most of the house with pex, put in recirculating hot water, put the reloading room back together. Back to cranking the handle Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday 1000 40S&W w/ 180 gr X-Treme bullets, 250 Nickle case 40S&W w/ 155gr XTP, 200 357 Sig w/ 115gr HAP, and started on 250 10mm w/ 155gr XTP.
  8. Merry Christmas Eve everyone
  9. What the last video is showing is the top couple lifts of a shotcrete wall on the way back up. Procedure is the lagging wall that collapsed is constructed from the top down as the hole is dug with tiebacks, then the structural component of the wall (part with all the rebar) is placed on the way back up integral to a large footing and each of the floor system. Apparently, the lagging part of the shotcrete wall was not engineered to withstand the forces (Duh..). The tiebacks look like they held and the lagging let go. Not unusual no rebar in the lagging portion of the wall, just mats around the tieback heads. There should have been no loose fill behind the wall, it is just excavated and the shotcrete lagging is placed right on the dirt in 4-6 foot lifts going down as the hole is dug. All that fill pouring out makes me think there was another (Poorly constructed!) project unknown to the project engineer like a road backfill or backfill around some utilities or whatever and that is where all the loose material came from. When there is fill behind a lagging wall, you will see soldier piles (I-Beams) and wood lagging like 4X12s. All the ground water control is placed between the lagging wall and the structural wall.
  10. Thanks. FWIW I've been talking to Rebecca, nice lady but by the book on warranty issues.
  11. You bet. Thanks.
  12. Cabelas has them for $114 *** the Sigs***
  13. If I'm going too throw money away might as well try something new. https://goaxil.com/products/sig-sauer-gs-extreme?variant=39741145612347&srsltid=AfmBOoraXeHIKLDntsnCxO-MUs4IIFhCYmXj65pcoVs7jIKTmb9Je8dE0gU&com_cvv=8fb3d522dc163aeadb66e08cd7450cbbdddc64c6cf2e8891f6d48747c6d56d2c I've got some other sig electronic stuff, BDX rangefinder binos, scope, CS is great.
  14. I was really surprised they just dismissed me out of hand. No trouble shooting advice, no "send them in we'll take a look", nothing except "Buy another pair if you want, they're on sale now". Not use to that kind of response in the shooting industry. I have 4 of their products, 2 Pro Ear Gold, bought the second set as a backup because the first set was squealing a little bit when volume turned up after a few years, 3rd set of Gold "Pink" for the woman, fine so far, and these. So 2 out of 4 have issues. Not going for 5, life's too short. Finding another brand.
  15. Just received a "Tough luck, but we are running a sale right now if you want to buy a new one...." email. That'll be the day.
  16. Well, quit working after last charge. Won't turn on. Let sit around for a month, re-charged, ditto. Sent email to Altus, we'll see if they stand behind their product.
  17. Ran out of AR comp, had to order some more, almost 60$/lb!
  18. Everything back in action after the flood, just finished up 1500 44 mag and half way through case prep on 1000 308, sized, trimmed, now getting after the chamfering.
  19. Had a pipe break over the reloading room Thursday so spent the last 3 days breaking down a bunch of tool heads, wiping/ oiling dies, breaking down 3 presses, wiping/ oiling, reassembling, tossed over 1000 primers, and have been drying several hundred rounds of wet brass. Fortunately only the "on hand" primers got wet, the ones in the storage cabinets were in another room not in the direct flow. A few of the die parts and pieces rusted instantly, the powder funnels in the Dillon powder dies and RCBS dies went fast for some reason, Hornady, Lyman, Redding, and Lee not so bad. Hornady "American" 308 dies seemed unaffected by a bath. Go figure. Always count on your 308 if all else fails. Box of stuff heading out to the shop see if I can clean them up, maybe chuck in the lathe and use some wet dry on the insides, media blast on the outside knurling and threads. I Yi Yi... Oh, did I mention I had an acute Sciatica attack at the same time. Waiting for #3.
  20. Talking to a SAF Senior Editor at a shoot the other day, said they had the biggest membership jump ever after the court ruling. My question to all these pistol brace sporting "this ain't fair" non members is why you think we members should carry the load? This stuff costs money! Join or die!
  21. The Ken Onion is good for keeping sharp knives sharp, but takes some doing to make a dull knife sharp again. Better on the thin profile ss knives then the heavy profile hollow ground knives.
  22. Got both, fortunately under control. 2 very painful afflictions. Fix for me is wearing Asolo 520 hiking boots, with Cadence insoles and gel heel cups. Old guy I worked with turned me onto these. Not cheap, probably 4 bills with the cups and insoles, but I have to be on my feet several hrs every day so happy feet are worth any price. Get a new pair every year just before hunting season and seem to last a year. On my 6th or 7th pair. Don't even remember which foot anymore. And a daily Alopurinol for the gout.
  23. I was just on Armalite's site, not seeing a lot of the parts including the kit referenced above. Was looking for the link for someone. Checked a few other things I purchased in the past, handguard, sight, nada. Went to Strategic Arms. Just sends me back to Armalite site. Seems like SAC was where I shopped before. Curious.
  24. Agree on the Lee die My opinion neck tension from properly sized fresh brass is 99% of the equation and crimp is the final 1%. Crimping can and will reduce neck tension, replacing it with, in my opinion, a less desirable and weaker hold. Any crimp that pushes down on the edge to create a roll falls into this category. Lee uses a collet that does not move in relation to the case when crimping, so huge improvement but don't want to overdo it. Any more then absolutely necessary, even with the Lee, is not your friend. One thing that factors into this is bullet is not as springy as brass, so bullet squishes, (Technical term) brass springs back bullet doesn't. Just my $0.02, taken apart a lot of loads over the years.
