Talking to a SAF Senior Editor at a shoot the other day, said they had the biggest membership jump ever after the court ruling. My question to all these pistol brace sporting "this ain't fair" non members is why you think we members should carry the load? This stuff costs money! Join or die!

The Ken Onion is good for keeping sharp knives sharp, but takes some doing to make a dull knife sharp again. Better on the thin profile ss knives then the heavy profile hollow ground knives.

Got both, fortunately under control. 2 very painful afflictions. Fix for me is wearing Asolo 520 hiking boots, with Cadence insoles and gel heel cups. Old guy I worked with turned me onto these. Not cheap, probably 4 bills with the cups and insoles, but I have to be on my feet several hrs every day so happy feet are worth any price. Get a new pair every year just before hunting season and seem to last a year. On my 6th or 7th pair. Don't even remember which foot anymore. And a daily Alopurinol for the gout.

I was just on Armalite's site, not seeing a lot of the parts including the kit referenced above. Was looking for the link for someone. Checked a few other things I purchased in the past, handguard, sight, nada. Went to Strategic Arms. Just sends me back to Armalite site. Seems like SAC was where I shopped before. Curious.

Agree on the Lee die My opinion neck tension from properly sized fresh brass is 99% of the equation and crimp is the final 1%. Crimping can and will reduce neck tension, replacing it with, in my opinion, a less desirable and weaker hold. Any crimp that pushes down on the edge to create a roll falls into this category. Lee uses a collet that does not move in relation to the case when crimping, so huge improvement but don't want to overdo it. Any more then absolutely necessary, even with the Lee, is not your friend. One thing that factors into this is bullet is not as springy as brass, so bullet squishes, (Technical term) brass springs back bullet doesn't. Just my $0.02, taken apart a lot of loads over the years.

Lancers are good. I like C-Products steel mags. Run them in 3/ 308s and a 6.5 CM never an issue.

I reread the whole thing, maybe I missed it but were different magazines tried? Also, possible leak at gas block?

After using the numbered drill, measure it with a caliper, sometimes the shafts (And cutters) do not match the decimal chart (Harbor freight...)

About your 3rd photo the BCG is slammed tight against the "ears" there should be some clearance. May need a couple quarters for spacing behind the spring. You will need to remove gas tube to get a good measurement, before that measure how short it is from hitting center of cam cutout so you will know how much longer to order the new one. Reading on a smartphone so if this was already covered ignore!

I lap with 2 piece setups on hunting rifles, If I shot long distance competition I sure would also. The cantilevered AR mounts not too worried about. I have a 1/4" (thinking tecton?) torque wrench but if I ever got a new one I would get the Snap On or at least that style. The wrench style has a lot of rotating mass in the handle have to be careful with.

Torque Wrenches and life jackets are two of the many items I wouldn't buy at HF! When torqueing small parts consider that adding any liquid thread locker throws the numbers out the window, lubrication properties can easy cause it to stretch/ strip small screws. I reduce the numbers 25-50% and then re-torque next day with stuff like locktight blue. Haven't seen issues when screws come pre-coated with that red or brown stuff.

I'm just going to throw this out there, save every pin and part you remove, and don't file/ sand/ grind any of the original parts, frame, slide, etc to make the new barrel fit. I cringe at taking an old timer like that and "Renewing" but if you feel you must then you must.

Maybe they have different variations, site down right now, but for sure my 308 Tubbs spring will not work in a 7" tube/ 2.5" buffer. (Well, almost sure memory ain't what it use to be) Anyway, a solution looking for a problem as some would say.

I ran a Tubs in one of my 308's w/ 7-5/8 tube, worked fine but a pain to get the whole thing stuffed into the extension. won't work with a 2-1/2" buffer, almost 3-1/4" fully compressed. Sprinco red or EA1095 as stated above is the gold standard.

They were selling for cheap a while back. Correct, no rail matches. Think it is a Remington. Be hard to match that up without machining a riser block. But on the good side you have a shooter. I'd go with an illuminated 1-8x30 or something like that, leave the rest alone, and count it as a win!

It is a procedure for sure. I like the caliber interesting choice. One thing 98Z was pointing out was your bolt catch. They vary a lot. Small frame catches fit in large frames but with mixed results. If it drops in it is probably small. If it needs fitting it is probably large frame. Beefier the better. We should add to Waterboarding thread. My go to is the Armalite, think off hand 10B Maybe someone will correct me.
