  1. If it is not stamped on the barrel (which it usually is) you can put a cleaning rod in with enough cleaning pad so tight fit, ark it with a sharpie, then measure how far it needs to move to make 1 full rotation. Or 1/2 rotation and double, etc. If it moves 5" to make 1/2 rotation or 10" to make full rotation you have 1:10.
  2. Good start! Going with carbine / collapsible stock or rifle stock?
  3. You will figure out quickly we live for this!
  4. Hello, @jeffery Post up what parts you intend to buy, before you buy, we may save you some money/ grief. Welcome to the forum.
  5. Picked this paratrooper up back in the 90's, little over 100.00. Used it for blacktail for a couple seasons. (No full auto sear, just the instructions!) Also have a second 20 round box mag for it, and of course all the bubba stuff, some of the 30 round mags, railed upper receiver and scope, I think somewhere around here a set of bubba black plastic furniture.
  6. Going back through some of the old builds, got to the 40SW Zombie Killer. Added a small block of aluminum on the mag release to hold the mag a little higher. Tried solder, muggy weld, one other "Aluminum" type solder/weld could not get a good bond. (After thinking about it later wondering if the AlOx media blast was imparting a oxide finish, go back to that later) Anyway, for proof of concept used JB weld. held solid enough to mill without coming loose. Gradually reduced the height of the block until magazine locked up in near contact with the closed BCG. Then set the ejector to just touching the top of the inserted mag, filed the top of the ejector until the BCG would clear. Threw a Cerakote black/ titanium stress and a CMC PCC SS drop in. At the gravel pit I could not find a round that would not feed, went through hollow points, flat points, round points, factory and handloads. 250+ rounds, little riser block still epoxied in place. No double taps with the CMC FCG. Need to learn how to weld/ solder aluminum but in the mean time solid shooter.
  7. Get great groups with the Hornady 150s and AR-Comp
  8. @AKDanone thing I notice in the photo it looks like the bolt face barely clears the bolt stop. Does it manually lock back easily enough on an empty mag? Full engagement on the bolt face when it does?
  9. Love revolvers, love S&W revolvers, love SS Revolvers.
  10. I really like their 2+2. Looks like a fair price. Last couple builds used their SS. All good FCGs
  11. 45.9 seems pretty high, watch for signs sneak up slowly. Nothing wrong with slightly compressed loads as long as you don't start deforming the case. 168 Sierra shows 44 max on loaddata, but 168 Sierra HPBT does show 45.9. I like to see SD's when I'm running a ladder, fastest isn't always bestest.
  12. You are right there for velocity no surprises. Looking up your load, 44 gr is about max. Did you record SD's?
  13. And report back!
  14. Used varget for years. Nothing wrong with it at all, just getting better SD's with the AR Comp. Maybe a little more forgiving, who knows. Seeing how you have both, work up a couple ladders and make your own assessment.
  15. I really like AR-Comp, was using Varget and reloader but the AR comp was more consistent over the chrono and cycles the 3 different AR308 configurations I have.
  16. Rifle length... When you get it post back with the ruler!
  17. That's exactly what it's called, thanks for the reminder. @RJE288 give it a try and report back.. You an always use parts that don't work or are extra for future build!
  18. Hello, RJE288 The round ones are the same I think, seems like I put the A4 M-15 carbine handguard from the armalite site on my last 308 build. Maybe same with triangle? Need the 308 barrel nut assembly. Front delta ring should be crossover also?
  19. Finally got to test them at the range, walls 3 sides and a roof, high bullet baffles out front, was not pleasant with anything loud/ ported/ comped going on. 2 bays away brother shooting XM177 configuration 5.56 was acceptable, but 308 with tank brake, 12 gage unpleasant as fuk. had to grab the pro ears gold. Probably be acceptable in open area, give it a try at the gravelpit later. Yes, have the correct ear buds. These ARE the greatest thing since sliced bread for canceling out everyone on the room and watching a video with the bluetooth feature!.
  20. C Products make a steel or SS one, and I have never had issues with their large or small frame mags. Google around you will find one.
  21. Does the ballistic program A: have a scope over bore dimension setting? Maybe you are off a little there. B: what does the table show you should have at 275 yards? I don't like to use a 50 yard number to set up a ballistic table, to much chance for inaccuracy. Things like sight over bore dimension are a lot more critical the closer you get.
  22. I've built on one similar to the one on the left at least once, it did fit in the 5D pro jig so I didn't notice the difference at the front until you mentioned it here and I went back and looked at a photo. Nothing wrong with it, "Billet" (milled from a forged billet) instead of just "Forged" like the one on the right. Fit the DPMS pattern upper fine.
  23. Stealth 28 HTBT's just showed up. Seem nice. Proof is in the pudding!
  24. Yup. Hack with some machine tools and a cerakote gun. Laser on the way, I should be really dangerous then!
  25. Both scary looking sites Crypto only on one, other for sale
