  1. Some of the most sound advice I've seen yet. The only alternative to this way of thinking to me, is to have a matched bolt sent to you from the barrel maker. In this way, you can get a bolt that's been specifically headspaced to your barrel.

  3. That's a very nice suppressor! I've checked those out myself and they are a top-quality product.
  4. That's the very one! I had thought at one time that it was made on a Douglas blank, but in fact it is a Criterion. Thank you sir! I'm no marksman by any means, but I give it my best.
  5. Welcome to the forums!
  6. Well, that makes me feel better. I guess one could hypothetically build an Armalite-style around the gas block if it didn't work.... ;D
  7. Wait for it... ATC SR Gold! ---> Over in the site ads! It really is a fantastic trigger. <thumbsup>
  8. I know that there's a difference in gas tube length between Armalite and DPMS type gas systems, but are there dimensional differences in the gas blocks themselves with regard to the location of the gas port? (It's so hard not to say gas-hole...LOL)My reason for asking is that I'd like to use a Noveske Switchblock on a DPMS-type barrel. I know I'll have to use the correct gas tube, but will the gas port line up in the gas block?
  9. First off, welcome to the forums Mark! To answer your question, there are several here who have built of of Mega's matched receivers, and I have yet to see a complaint with regard to quality or performance. I personally have built off the matched monolithic receiver set and my rifle performs flawlessly so I will give you a rundown of how it is currently configured. 10. Surely some bully hasn't been teasing you about a typographical error or some such.... :o :cookoo: <munch>
  11. Welcome Slash!
  12. I'll call you when the pistol and Helen and Jennifer are here... <laughs>
  13. Who can blame him? I thought shooting a regular 1911 is as good as sex with a supermodel in a tub full of Jello. This would be like sex with Siamese twin supermodels in a tub full of Strawberry Jello!
  14. You could buy a Fulton Carrier and a JP bolt, that's a combo I'd gladly buy! http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPEB-308
  15. Fulton Armory is always a good source for bolts & carriers.
  16. Come on into the Asylum brother, we have your room ready! <laughs> <lmao> <munch>
  17. 4 Feet of snow next week, you can have your own glacier-preserved butterflies... :o
  18. I have a Troy MRF 13.8 in the mail! Yeehaa!
  19. Welcome to the forums!
  20. Sounds very interesting! I'm curious to know if it's button-rifled or point-cut and who made the blank.
  21. You've got it all wrong. There's no way this A3 upper is going to be replicated as a Mk12 Mod 0 upper, it just isn't going to happen. Not as far as the wife is concerned anyways. <laughs> <lmao> <dontknow> <munch>
  22. Here a while back, an upstanding member of our board here sold me a Troy MRF 13.8" rail at a terrific price. When I received the rail, it was brand new, still in the Troy box. I was enthralled, until I put it on that is. The receiver height didn't match up. This isn't an unfamiliar problem in the .308 AR world though, so I figured I'd have it cured in no time by simply ordering the correct height receiver. I put in a call to DPMS, who told me that the difference between their old receiver and the new is that the new one is higher. WRONG! So I ordered a new A3 upper based on what they told me. When I get it, the receiver heights are the same. I had a newer style receiver to begin with. So I place a call to Troy and explain that I have two new uppers of the wrong height and they quickly explained that if I had an older DPMS A3 receiver, the heights (between the rail and my upper) would've matched. They told me to send my upper back to DPMS for a refund. Then he told me to send him back my Troy rail, and he'd replace it with the correct height rail, don't worry about not having a receipt or anything they'll replace it. That's customer service! I may hang on to my new stripped upper though, you can never tell when it will be useful to have a spare upper!
  23. It's all good. Dave's free time has to be getting scarce these days, he's probably going to have to purchase a warehouse here soon.... <dontknow>
  24. The only other rules we play by are the Russian ones, so the alternative was the firing squad. I think we picked nicely.... <dontknow> ;)
  25. It's like the difference between a manual and automatic transmission. Both are transmissions, but the methods they function on are very different. One is also a bit more 'user-intensive' than the other.
