Oops. Looks like I was kinda wrong. 9mm, and .357sig = 1/2x28 .40s&w and 10mm = 9/16x24 .45acp = .578x28

Oops. Wrong button... Lol. It won't do anything for your back pressure. I was just providing you an alternative option... especially since the pistol caliber barrels (that I know of) aren't threaded for a 1/2x28 or 5/8x24 device. Most pistol caliber builds are "blow back" and not direct impingement. Not much a pig will help with in that fact. If you are building with a RMWxtreme upper, then you'll likely have a custom DI system and then a pig may be of help again... especially if you decide to shoot some lighter .40s&w stuff through it.

I have a LWD .40/10mm comp that I planned on using for a similar build. If you ditch the "pig" concept and want a comp instead,I'll let it go cheap. It's still brand new.

My .308 learned a new trick... Bolt catch not catching properly.
Robocop1051 replied to AdamO's topic in Building a .308AR
Pull the bolt catch off, then check the spring and detent. -
I've used both. Peel washers seem faster to install, since the trial and error portion is so simple, but timing shims seemed more sturdy. I'm sure they're both equally as good as each other.

What if I told you the guy doing it was hoping to get the barrel out at a standard "match" or "Ultra-match" barrel price, sub-$400??
-
Nice. I feel much better about this rifle over the Noreen BN36.

Stay tuned for more info on tensioned barrels. I heard rumor of a tensioned AND carbon fiber barrel in R&D. The company trying this, also makes rocket engine parts for the Virgin space program... he might know his shiit.

The cheapest way... •buy a cell phone back up charger •plug in into your wife's smart phone (iPhone work best) and toss them into the rifle case together. •you can track a smart phone through a linked app... like "Find my phone"... from any computer or other smart phone. Everytime I lose my phone in the house, I do this to give myself a 3m radius of where it might be. It's not exact, but it's pretty damned close. The battery combo should have PLENTY of life in it to track in real time from the plane to the luggage. If it got on the wrong plane... Greg... you'll know exactly which state it's in and be able to track it immediately... rather than some barely English speaking turd trying get to help over the phone from 10 states away.

I saw the MRAD in all shapes and sizes at SHOT. The magazine loaded the rounds to the front of the mag, with the smaller OAL mags having an extra thick spine. They can do it, but it won't be on the receiver they have now. The .300WM receiver will never fit the larger .338LM. They'd have to make a .338LM receiver and then make custom mags for the shorter rounds. I agree that it should be as easy as a upper (or just a barrel/bolt) swap. Just a lot of R&D $$$.... Colt kind of did this with their CM901.

I do have one. It's still a metal barrel and I can get a 3 to 5 shot string before my barrel is too hot to group... the difference is that I only have to wait a few seconds (30-45) till I'm ready to group again. Also, my barrel is never too hot to touch. This quality does NOT transfer to the gas block or the muzzle device... as I quickly found out the hard way.

You can get the USMC KAC rear sights from ebay for pretty cheap. Guys get discharged and swipe the unaccounted for gear. I've seen them scoopscooped up for $60-$75. They are identical to the 600m KAC rear sight.

They said at SHOT they weren't looking at the .338LM as of right now. They are looking at the .338 Win Mag though. SI-D, NEMO & PROOF Research are all fans of the .338 caliber. Both the .338 Fed and the .338WM. The .338LM would require them to make a whole new size receiver.

The MVP 16 inch "Patrol" with the "Scout" rail, and the "Flex" body with some decent Magpul furniture and a folding stock... that'd be pure sex!

SI-Defense, NEMO and SWORD Int are going to blow the competition away this year. If others don't start making adjustments to their design, they will be left behind in technological advances. Where SI-D and NEMO make excellent hunting and target shooting rifles. SWORD makes a 100% battle monster. All of their rifles have ultimately maximized the ability and performance of the AR platform rifles. From .223 to .308 to .300WM to .338LM... And many others in between... they are all phenomenal in design and function.
-
Technically, yes. Then he'd be buying two parts instead of one. That'd put him another $200 in the hole... just to have a black barrel.
-
Finish the AR. It's a buyers market right now, and who knows how the political climate will change tomorrow. The last thing you want is to be stick with a half done rifle, not knowing what the future of gun laws are going to be, with prices jacked up almost 10x. You can buy a bolt rifle any day.
-
Lol I'll be honest, I don't know squat about suppressors. I'll leave the expert talk to R2.

Criterion makes a 16" rifle length Mega and Nemo make a 18" rifle length

I have no experience with .308 metal mag (aside from AIMS and M14/M14 mags). Magpul makes a 10, 20 and 25 round mag. I liked Magpul so much that I bought a custom 5 round mag here... http://midwestpx.com/index.php?cPath=15_136_87 Brownells.com MidwestPX.com 44mag.com DSGArms.com

Fire this guy. Unfriend him. Refuse his calls. File a restraining order.... do whatever you have to do to never get his advice again. If you need further advice on the efficiency of the .308, you can audit my freezer.
-
Just remember to only serialize a part that can be universally swapped between calibers.
-
I have all Magpul mags. I have 20 and 10 round PMAGs for my .308

I was going to suggest the same scope. It's a great piece. Using MBUS sights and a scope is wonky at best. The clearance comes more from the the mount than the scope. There are QD scope mounts will give enough room to collapse a rear sight under the scope. If you go with offset sights, you have a lot more mount options.

While at SHOT I met with ASC and CProducts. I was ready to bad mouth both of them... ASC is trying. The owner was there and a hell of a guy. I wasn't blown away with his products, but he seems aware of his past reputation and stated that he's got some changes for this year. CProducts is actually now CProducts Defense. The owner was away, but his wife was there to fill me in. They bought CProducts when the quality has fallen to crap. They stated that they've had a hard time rebuilding their reputation. They've been taking their mags back to the drawing board and are releasing some brand new designs. What really impressed me was their stainless mags. They felt like they were melonite treated. Their new anti-tilt follower was very sturdy too. Here's their new 28rd and 30rd 7.62x39 mags. The 28rd mag is supposed to fit in standard mag pouches... they rumored that the "new" 30rd can actually fit 35! CProducts advised that they increased the spine welds as well. Not just the number of welds, but also the strength of the welds. They showed me a mag they tried to pull apart. The body ripped before the welds broke.
