The bonus is that the wife and kids won't be afraid to shoot it. They pop lighter than a 9mm, they weigh almost nothing, and they are SUPER easy to manipulate. My only gripe is the size of the grip. It's pretty thick, and can be issue for some.

SEE ABOVE POST FOR PETITION This is the bill SB249 (YEE) Take a look.. SB 249 (Yee) Firearms: assault weapon conversion kits. Existing law, with certain exceptions, prohibits the possession of an assault weapon, as defined, and makes violations subject to criminal penalties. This bill would, commencing July 1, 2013, and with certain exceptions, prohibit any person from importing, making, selling, loaning, transferring, or possessing any conversion kit, as defined, designed to convert certain firearms with a fixed magazine into firearms with the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and other features making the firearm an assault weapon and would make violations subject to criminal penalties. By creating new crimes, this bill would impose a state-mandated local program. Existing law makes possession of an assault weapon a public nuisance, authorizes the Attorney General, district attorney, or city attorney to bring a civil action to enjoin possession of the weapon, authorizes imposition of a civil fine, and, with certain exceptions, requires disposition of the weapon by sale at public auction or by destruction. This bill would, commencing July 1, 2013, make possession of a conversion kit a public nuisance, would authorize a civil action to enjoin possession of a conversion kit, would authorize imposition of a civil fine, and, with certain exceptions, would, similarly, require disposition of the conversion kit. Existing law authorizes a person to arrange in advance to relinquish an assault weapon to a police or sheriff’s department. This bill would authorize a person to arrange in advance to relinquish a conversion kit to a police or sheriff’s department. The California Constitution requires the state to reimburse local agencies and school districts for certain costs mandated by the state. Statutory provisions establish procedures for making that reimbursement. This bill would provide that no reimbursement is required by this act for a specified reason.

That was the only "-6.66" I could find... S&P 500 dropped 6.66 last year too; http://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/breakout/p-500-plunges-6-66-no-bottom-sight-201831572.html

I hate that I can be such a gun snob, but I agree with Terry. I'm not saying that you need a $3k Wilson Combat, but a good Sig or Springfield will run $700-$1200. My Walther was a gift from the old man when I first got sworn in. My Springfield 1911 cost me a good mint. I trust the lives of my family with both of them.

Strikers are like the Glock. They dont have a hammer that strikes the firing pin. They are proven to be efficient. They call them DAO (double action only) but technically they are single action autos with a two stage trigger.

Soofley, check out the Sig P238. It's a little firecracker.

I expect it to weigh in somewhere near a 16" M4/M203 type barrel... Except instead of a military .750 contour, I will have a .875 heavy contour. So maybe just under or around 2 lbs?? All the benefits of a heavier target barrel, with the weight of the lighter contour barrel. I'm not expecting miracles, just bonus points.

There is a guy at the Cali gun shows that sells gloves with a plastic nipple sewn to the tip of the middle finger. I've lived in CA all my life. I was raised in a MIL/LE influenced household. I have been in LE myself for about ten years. I think the whole premise for the AW law is stupid. There are other ways to restrict purchasing and enforce laws that won't hinder law abiding citizens.

I bought a match grade stainless steel Wilson barrel from Rainier Arms chambered in .223 Wylde, a hybrid between .223 Rem and 5.56x45. It is 14.5" with a mid length gas port. It has a 1:8" twist. Most everyone knows my next story. I ordered a carbon fiber wrapped barrel for my .308. This barrel has a stainless Satern core with a 1:10 twist. The barrel is 17" with a rifle length gas system. Jense Precision has been orchestrating this build for me. I hit a small snag at the beginning of this year, when the smith assigned to my build walked out on the company without telling anyone about my build. They found my items in a box stashed at the guys work station.

Gun plus three mags... All for $800... That's not a deal, that's a steal. You better go to church after buying that. The gun is fun, and if I needed a tactical pistol, with a shyte ton of ammo capacity, and weight was detrimental, this would be the gun for me. The history of this pistol was to give combat pilots something they could carry in a cockpit that had very limited space, and weight restrictions... I personally know a CHP officer that carries this as his off duty handgun. He keeps a 20 round mag in the gun, and two extended mags on his belt... THAT'S 80 FREAKIN ROUNDS OF HIGH VELOCITY TERROR!!!! Not to mention, the popularity of the gun has brought about very affordable ammo. Here in the easy bay area of California, a would-be-burglar entered the home of the proud owner of a FN Five Seven. The home owner woke to the sounds of a home intruder. Upon meeting the intruder in the hallway the homeowner instantly became in fear for the safety and lives of him and his loved ones.... One round to the neck... The itty-bitty 28gr hollow point flew out the end of that barrel at over 2,000 feet per second. The extreme close distance didn't give the bullet time to expand as it entered the suspects neck... HOWEVER, as soon as it struck the vertebra, the bullet exploded on the impact. The resulting damage from the explosion ripped flesh from shattered bone. The coroners report advised that death was instantaneous. Only a few bits of tissue prevented a complete decapitation. Is that the story you were looking for? <thumbsup>

Who's got them? What did you get? Why did you choose it? Where did you buy it from? How long did it take to get it?

I use Win Ranger ammo for duty. I still have some evil Black talons too. They are identical, minus the black part. From what I remember, some idiot mentioned to the news that bullets are designated by colored tips in the military; green, red and black. The black tipped bullets identify the round as being armor piercing (solid core). Obviously this math doesn't compute to us enthusiasts. How can a hollow point ALSO be armor piercing??? The uneducated masses didn't care. They heard we were buying armor piercing hollow point bullets and they went nuts! It didn't help that rap music was promoting songs at the same time with titles like "Cop Killa". Shortly after the "craze" hit mainstream, a company released a video of what they called "Black Rhino" rounds (1, 2, and 3). To the best of my knowledge this never hit the shelves. It was more of a, "Hey, look what we can make." This claimed to be the legendary armor piercing / expanding ammo.

DPMS LR308 AP4 Cheek Weld ?
Robocop1051 replied to outdare's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
The Magpul MOE and CTR stocks both accept cheek risers. They come in 2 or 3 different heights. They also accept the Magpul enhanced butt pad. That makes for a much more comfortably shoot. -
you guys have NO IDEA how many things I can say about that picture....

Right now that's my "utility" pistol. Kind of a "everything" gun. She is mostly fed 230gr ball ammo from either 8rd Wilson mags or 10rd CMC mags. My regular duty piece is a Sig P226 in .40 cal and is soon to be replaced by this 1911. My regular carry is a Walther PPK/s .380 I shot this piece for a plain clothes (I have something to prove) training. I proved my point today... Although a rookie almost ruined the whole thing for me. He showed up with a Sig P238 (newer version of the Colt Mustang) with little to no experience in manipulating it. The Admin frowns on "Cocked and Locked" and I was trying to show them how someone who knows what he is doing can do work. He and I had a "talk" about single action auto's. Gun broker shows these going $1600-$1800 used. The model with the full length rail has been discontinued for a few years. Now you can get the TRP or the Operator, but I don't think you can get both outside of their "Custom Shop". I got this from a friend who had it as a safe queen. He heard I was looking for something similar and made me an offer I couldn't pass up.

Damn you late night iPhone! Your auto-correct can go to hell! I'm sure the three of us are going call eachother lots of colorful names when shooting. I'll come up with something better than Tia.
