  1. I wouldn't waste a bunch of time ordering a custom .338Fed bbl... find the barrel you want in a common .308Win and then have it bored out to .338Fed. A Faxon or Criterion could be bought now, sent to a guy like Randall at ar15barrels.Com and be back in your hands within days.
  2. True story.... My my father carries a custom Randall on his hunting holster. He's got 45 years of LE and is cowboy as cowboy gets. On an elk hunt in Idaho, a hunter (new to the group, and not well known or liked by the majority of the group) got excited and took a shot at a bull from about 400 yards away... despite having never shot further than 100 yards in his life. He neglected the fact that my father was about 150 yards closer... AND DIRECTLY IN THE PATH OF THE BULLET HE WAS LAUNCHING. My father said he was stalking to get get a closer shot when he heard a bzzzzzzzzz go passed his head, and then the loud boom. He dropped face first into the dirt and then the second bzzzzzzzzz came by... and then a third... all misses. The bull was harvested by another hunter in the group, on the other side of the grove they were in. Needless to say my father was beyond the point of being a little pissed off. The other guy, 15 years his younger, tried to play the tough guy role as a defense... several guys had to grab my old man to keep him off the guy. The quote of the hunt was, "I'd leave you out here in these hills, if I didn't think someone would recognize my Randall stickin' outta your chest."

  4. I recently spoke with a new company about the concept of caseless ammo. They say it's always on the drawing board, just requires a lot of $$$$ for the research. Remington still has patents on their design for caseless ammo. Nothing new about the concept of caseless ammo, but I wonder if particle acceleration will progress faster? BAE already has a ship being mounted with a system to replace a Tomahawk armament.
  5. What 3rd world country do you live in that still uses salt?
  6. To make it worth it, the velocity of the lighter mass has to increase exponentially. I don't know all the math, but just picture popping a squirrel with your .45ACP, launching a 230gr at 850 fps.... and then popping another with a 4k+ fps 35gr .22cal varmint grenade. The proof is in the mist.
  7. +1 Legalize it all. Make it free and abundant. Free up some parking at Walmart and reduce traffic congestion. Darwin will clense all.
  8. Everything is sold except for HK rails.
  9. It wouldn't have mattered anyways.... everything except for the HK stuff was sold out by the time you posted.
  10. I tried several times to log in and got the same message. I quit.
  11. They are breaking the Internet. Lol.
  12. You should set up a deal with an FFL to order mags in bulk. I know CP-D and Magpul can be bought as cheap as $8 or $9 each, in bulk 100+ boxes. Pinned 10/20 or 10/30 mags sell for $15-$20. Split the profits and you'll still put a few hundred dollars on your pocket.
  13. Don't forget someone else got a 12.5" Noveske bbl for a graduation present...
  14. I've pinned PMAGs for friends. It's so easy, it's stupid. 1. Drill hole. 2. Fill hole with appropriate sized rivet Done I really think it takes me about 45 seconds per magazine.
  15. Do mag tube have to be plugged, or is it more of an honor system.
  16. If you have the means for both, it doesn't hurt.
  17. You're going to want 175gr if you want to reach loooong distance.
  18. Everyone I see Bubba carrying his .308 around, all I picture is the old pictures...
  19. Guess who's got two thumbs and is NOT going to a California prison for some stupid subsection in the AWB....
  20. That's an awesome deal.
  21. Normally.... like 99.999% of the time.... you don't buy a barrel extension separate from a barrel. A match grade barrel comes with a match grade extension. The only time you buy separate is if you are having a custom barrel made. In my case, I wanted a very specific length and contour, carbon fiber wrapped barrel. I also wanted a stainless steel, NiB coated, barrel extension. At that time, very few companies did NiB. I had PROOF Research make my barrel and since SI-D made most of my rifle, and they did NiB, I had them make my extension. It was not cheap
  22. Or upgrade your Fulton upper to be a side charger.
  23. They make heavy .308 rounds... but the 308AR mag is restricted to an overall cartridge length. The biggest round you can reliably fit is the 175gr, or maybe a compressed 180gr... but that's it. I'm all for shooting suppressed... but I'd forgo the idea of shooting subsonic .308
  24. I'm honestly not trying to be a dick here... What's the point of a subsonic .308 in an AR platform? Isn't that basically a .300Blk in a much heavier frame? Even worse... you can only load 175gr into a 308AR from a magazine... At least the Blk can shoot 220gr.
