  1. This was a package I got from SWORD Int, so I can play with their new Mk18. I hope to have some really cool footage for you all VERY soon.
  2. The only thing better than building... is someone else picking up the bill.
  3. Guess what I've been building?
  4. Just sayin.....
  5. You waited for me to have twins before posting this..... I hate being responsible.
  6. Primary Arms Enhanced Red Dot..... just sayin'
  7. My 17", rifle length gas, .308 has a .099" hole. You max out at .125"
  8. My new magazine base plate inserts came in the mail today. Here's a comparison between the P226/P229 (American version) and the P227 inserts. I installed the part easily. Although, I did have to slap the mag a few times to get the little lock/nipple to fit properly. Once in place it wasn't budging. I was able to fit 15 rounds of .45ACP with very little effort. The mag on the left is unmodified with 14 rounds. The mag on the right has the new insert and 15 rounds. If you look at the mag on the right, in the #14 hole, you can see the top of round #15. I'll try this out at the range next week. If it works, I have enough inserts to finish off all my mags. Just hand cycling seems to be working just fine. Even with 15 rounds in the modified mag, I was still able to push down slightly (maybe 1/16") on the top round. I was also able to slam a fully loaded mag into the magwell on a closed (in battery) slide.... it was definitely stiffer than the 14 round mag, and a deliberate (some force) reload was required.
  9. any answers other than "whiskey" and "pussy" are wrong
  10. I think we need a stricter screening process at the beginning of membership. Question #1: How much tin foil did you purchase last week?
  11. I like theme builds, as long as they're functional too. I've always wanted to do a post-apocalyptic theme... something like this; But with an AR instead of an AK
  12. A decent video about their mags... I swear by these things!
  13. Stupid California.... I'll be swapping over to Barnes soon.
  14. I've shot everything, from rabbits to black bears, with my .308 (Mossberg 4x4) using Hornady 155gr A-MAX Match. My father uses a .270 or a .30-06 for Elk. I think he shoots between 130gr and 150gr. If you can put the pill in the kill box, a good bullet will almost always perform.
  15. I know at least one of you ingrates has this pistol. I used to own one, but it went the way of the Dodo bird a long time ago. I need a measurement of the mag spring dimensions. Mainly the width and depth, not so much the length. I'm trying to see if a Wolff XP P14 spring will fit in my P227 magazine bodies.
  16. I actually got a chance to play with that "thing" in Vegas, before it hit the market.... NOT pleased (which can be expected from a sub-par company) The receiver, barrel extension, bolt and carrier are all proprietary. I believe the handguard may be too. The sized up the parts somewhere between the AR15 and the 308AR. They [CMMG] believe the problem with the original design was the fragile bolts.... Except that LMT and Cason Eng are claiming THOUSANDS of steel cased rounds on the same bolts.... in full auto!!! It wasn't a bolt failure, it was a metallurgy failure. The new bolts are not made from tool steel. The Mk47 Mutant is overweight, unsightly, bulky in uncomfortable locations, and all around a fix to a problem that no longer exists. If you had to buy a rifle TODAY, and you wanted something from over the counter.... The POF or the PWS would be my only suggestions. If you wait till the end of this year.... I PROMISE YOU WILL SEE AN ALL NEW 7.62X39 RIFLE DESIGN. I can't speak more on that right now, but stay tuned.
  17. I guess they saw all the posts about people buying the ACT and the JP yellow springs. A very inexpensive way to make a dang good trigger.... I did it.
  18. I have an old Mossberg 4X4 .308 with a 22" lightweight barrel. No whip. Killed plenty of four legged beasts. If used as a hunting rifle, and not a 3Gun/combat piece, lengthening the time between shots and allowing time to cool, there's no reason it shouldn't be 1st shot accurate on a cold (or even a warm) barrel.
  19. Here's the rifle I built for my wife.
  20. An Anderson upper and lower set will cost about $115-$125. The only polymer set I'd suggest is the KSP (Kaiser Shooting Products, out of AZ), but that'll run you +$200 per set. LPK w/ ALG ACT Trigger $75 AR15 "Semi Auto" BCG $75 Faxon lightweight 16" (or 14.5") barrel assembly with a simple comp $300 Magpul MOE+ grip (she'll love this) $18 MFT Minimalist stock/buffer assembly $100 There's an entire build for under $800, and should be pretty dang light. Now that's no where near the lightest.... but that's $$$. Farkle has a polymer and Titanium build that is going to likely be under 5 lbs.
  21. Hey! Eyes off the Elcan!! I already claimed it in the Will. Lol.
  22. This is sooooooo freakin awesome!!!!
  23. I thought they were all called the VSS, and you just got different stock options??? I'll have to look it up.
  24. VSS
