    taper crimp?

I always lightly taper crimp anything going into an autoloader. Since most of my stuff is auto-loading, by extension, all my ammo gets crimped. I've personally seen the bullet setback in autoloaders, numerous times. Once, even by the mag-full. Depending on what gear you're using, you might already have a crimp die and not even know it. All the RCBS FL die sets have a taper crimp function built into the seating die. <thumbsup>
  2. That's the truth. The sources you've talked to on the subject don't know what the hell they're talking about. They'd be a lot of fun to sit down with in a bar, when this subject comes up. They'd be crying in their beer within 10 minutes. Yep, sounds like the bulk of their "experience" on the subject comes from other people that didn't know what they were talking about. Regurgitation of garbage. No kiddin'...
  3. Looks like a damn good time! I like the setup. <thumbsup>
  4. The M1 Carbine with it's issued 30-round magazine:
  5. It's more difficult than that. Just having QD scope mounts doesn't mean you can switch scopes from one rifle to the other. The Zero for the second rifle would be far off. For the purposes of barrel comparison, and truly being curious about the accuracy of both barrels, it might be worth it to zero on one, re-zero for the second, and re-zero back to the original. Just to let somebody else know - it really wouldn't be worth it. This would be where you, OP, buy two barrels, a scope, and a good QD scope mount, and go through that process. At the end of that process, you put those results up here.

    Xds 45&9 recall?!

^^^ Ditto. Put probably another 150 through mine to day - zero issues.
  7. ^^^ The ones that had doubles also had poor trigger control, brother. It's all about the follow-through, 100%. <thumbsup>
  8. Damn good read - this needs to be in another section, with the discussions of barrel length vs.accuracy. Both topics should be pinned.
  9. They need to be in prison - where they'll be taken care of nicely, I'm positive. <thumbsup>

    SUPRISE!!!

CONGRATS, MATT!!! THAT'S AWESOME!!! Oh HELL YEAH!!! ^^^ LMFAO!...
  11. Good luck and God Speed, Terry - I'll try to keep the bastards off my back 'til you get in here in a couple weeks. <thumbsup>
  12. Taking off the fixed front sight will be more of a job than putting on the new gb. Look at the taper pins closely - one side will be smaller than the other. You want to hit the small side. I start them with a punch that's about twice the size of the pin. Hit that thing HARD. Hard enough that you think you are using WAY too much force. I'm not kidding. Once they start to move, step the punch down to a size that will drive them all the way out. HIT THEM HARD...

    Xds 45&9 recall?!

Yesterday's update from SA - they think they have the final solution, and will test this week. Bigger update expected next week:
  14. I'm in, brother! <thumbsup>
  15. I don't get it. In reality, I have to remove my 17-year old son from my trust. He's not old enough to own/possess a handgun (21). He's not old enough to own/possess a rifle or shotgun (18). He's not old enough to own NFA weapons, so no suppressors, no SBRs, etc. So, Attorney Question coming up - Do I have to WAIT until all the stamps go through, THEN add him to the trust? More importantly, this looks like I have to do a complete background certification on EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the trust - so is that 7 Tax Stamps that I have to pay for? Or just 7 sets of fingerprints, pics, and CLEO sigs? What a bunch of S H I T.
  16. In the past, several people have reported this exact same condition with RRA 2-stage triggers - second stage goes soft, and essentially disappears, rendering the trigger an "expensive single stage" trigger. I don't know if this is still happening with RRA 2-stage triggers or not. Was this a DPMS-sourced trigger in a complete rifle? Where did the trigger come from?
  17. Also adds 80-thou to the length of the carrier - in some rifles, this is required.
  18. Precision Reflex makes one. PRI parts are top notch. http://www.precisionreflex.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=186815&CAT=4274
  19. No. EDIT: However, research the reason for the manufacture of the Tubb CWS. It explains lock time.
  20. I think I found a possibility just yesterday or the day before. I'll look it up. EDIT - These guys might know; worth the call, anyway. http://www.tworiversarms.com/index.html
  21. Mike, I'll have 2 adults and 2 17-year olds in a small Nissan truck, brother. And I can't transport anyone in the back on the Hwy between here and CG. I have a better way in and out, besides that crazy-ass road. All the roads have been graded, too. Main road almost all the way there, then smooth dirt for a short distance. Definitely nothing that would harm tires, brother. <thumbsup> I plan to be out there at 9am - meeting my old parts manager and step-son.
  22. ^^^ LMFAO!!!
  23. Nice!!!
  24. I was gonna say that EXACT same thing!!! <laughs>
  25. Damn! We were typing at the same time or something...
